English tapas, beautifully cooked and served with excellence. Was particularly impressed with the black forest mousse. Definitely going back.

This is a wonderful little pub, with great character! The food is superb and the service is excellent. The real ales are kept well and they have a good selection of reasonably priced wines. Well worth a visit!

What a little gem this is - a la carte fine dining and lunchtime menus, set in a beautiful 16th century pub in the tiny village of Brearton. The welcome is always fabulous from the Bleiker family and the father Jurg is the head chef and his food is just delicious. All food is cooked from scratch so gluten free and coeliacs and vegetarians more than welcome, locally reared organic meat and fresh fish all available and the puddings are to die for. They have a choice of seating - from in the lovely garden area, in the conservatory, cosy romantic corners or corporate dining - even weddings and parties! This award-winning restaurant is a must and on our doorstep.

Very disappointing experience. Service very, very slow. Waited about 45 mins to be asked what we would like to eat and at least 2 other tables of diners who had arrived after us had their orders taken first. Other guests at another table left - wish we had. Food was ok, though have eaten better (wondered just what the 2009 award was awarded for and by whom - looked on leaving but wasn't clear). Didn't take dessert as was worried about how long it would take them to serve. Paid bill using bank card. It was inserted into the machine but then the waiter waltzed off with my card (still in the machine) so had to chase after him to retrieve it. Not good with amount of fraud these days. Shall definitely not be visiting again when we come to Harrogate.

During a protracted hotel stay, I had ample opportunity to try most of the restaurants, bistros and pubs serving traditional bar food in Harrogate, however, the allurement of quality beer, good company and excellent food kept me returning to this popular bar/bistro. With a regularly changing selection of real ales, continental lagers/beers, all of which were well kept and correctly served by helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and a bar snack menu which reflected traditional and modern classics Fancy something a little more formal? No problem. The upstairs bistro contains all of the traditional bar meals plus a wide variety of wholesome meals predominantly utilising locally sourced meat and veg. An ample wine list permits the correct accompaniment to any meal, and all of the ales can be ordered at the table. In short, as a place to enjoy the best of Yorkshire food and drink, this is a hard place to beat.

This restaurant was recommended to us by friends who live locally. We had a drink in the wine bar which was packed around the bar, but had a great buzz about it and we ate in the restaurant upstairs. The food was superb and we will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

we had a lovely evening . We ate early because we had a little 'un with is who thoroughly enjoyed the drama and excitement of our chef in action - juggling eggs etc. If there is a downside it would be price - it was quite pricey and worked out at about £45. ph including several beers !

First visit on Saturday night, certainly won't be the last. Excellent food, lovely people & bags of personality. Not cheap but not unreasonable for such a pleasurable evening. Go!

Visted Thursday 4th February, early evening. This has to be my favourite restaurant at the moment. We have stayed at Rudding Park quite a lot and always enjoyed the lovely breakfasts there, but did not start using The Clocktower on an evening for some strange reason at first....silly us! This place is one of the best restaurants ever. The standard of everything is exceptionally high, and at a very affordable price. We chose to select our wonderful food from the local produce menu. Price at time of typing is three wonderful courses for £20.10. Bargain! We had drinks and nibbles in the lovely large bar area, then we were led through to the sort of table we prefer to sit at, when you can be next to each other, not opposite each other. We were then given bread with both oil and butter, both sorts of bread were lovely and i am sure will be home baked. My starter was a crab and sea food sort of thing, it was lovely and fresh and as ever presented in a great way. Husbands starter was a game terrine with fruit bread, he loved it. Mains were a great big pork chop with crackling with various vegetables to compliment it. I had the chicken served on a bed of mash and red cabbage. Both were cooked perfectly and yet again presented in a lovely but not over the top way that some restaurants do. Desserts, oh wow just so good. Rhubarb crumble with creme anglaise (custard!) Cant remember what my husband had now, but I know he wanted more! They tend to use as much locally sourced produce as possible. We had a bottle of Pinot Grigio, and also a large bottle of water. We chose to have our coffees and little chocs/fudge (home made)etc back in the bar area. Bill came to £75 which included the drinks at the bar. You are left to tip as you wish, which always shows a good place in my opinion. This is a very classy place, very clean and tidy throughout. High quality cutlery, glasses and linen.. I have to mention how impressed we both are by the staff at this place, and actually the whole hotel. It has been voted number 6 in the world I believe. The staff are friendly, have a great knowledge of the menu and are a delight to converse with. Thet are all lovely, but I will have to single Tomas out as a particular nice helpful young gentleman. I strongly would recommend anyone to try this place if you have never been before. It will become a firm favourite I am sure. Enjoy!

my recommendation is to never, ever eat from Masala. The food took 1hr 20 mins to turn up. we rang twice and they were rude each time, making excuses over why its taken so long. now the food....the chips were raw and soggy, the naan bread was dry with the salad and sauce no where to be seen. the curry was cold. im struggling for positive feedback now. no i don't have any. rubbish. simples.

Eeee Bye .... can tell tha's in Yorkshire Greeted by the acrid hue of burning chip fat and barely able to view the menu through the smoke I identified the word 'Cheeseburger' and ordered. The lady said 'would you like a bread roll with that?' Puzzled I replied 'yes please'. 'That'll be 55 pence' she says!! Just for clarity, I set out the definition of 'Cheeseburger' with the Oxford Dictionary: cheeseburger 'noun a beefburger with a slice of cheese on it, served in a bread roll.' I recently went for a meal at the Tannin Level and found it very disappointing having heard great things. The woman who appeared to be head of front of house was faultlessly friendly and charming, however i found some other members of staff to be far too snooty (imagine a sketch show french waiter). The menu reads beautifully and I expected great things, despite the idiotic spiel at the beginning- a run down of the restaurants domestic affairs which would be fine for a country pub but would probably still leave me questioning why I need to know the name of the KP. The fish i received was over cooked and the accompanying vegetables were dried out, i would really not be surprised to find that both were cooked in a microwave, and i was not shocked to see the chef walking through the restaurant twice as he had obviously not spent a great deal of time of my food. As is apparent from the other reviews, i may have caught the restaurant on an off day, as i can not see how such sterling reviews could have been mustered if the place was consistently this bad. Good luck to all it's future diners is all i can say, I'll be leaving it for a few years before take two (hopefully there will be a new chef by then!).

We had a superb meal at Graveleys this week. Even my wife enjoyed it and she doesn't usually like fish. The mussels starter are succulent and the Haddock is the best i have ever had anywhere. The wine list is carefully chosen and not overpriced and the selection of sweets made me (a diabetic) massively envious of the spouse.

We came across this restaurant by accident when walking back to our (very disappointing) hotel in Harrogate. This was the highlight of the weekend though; fantastic quality food with a real taste of Italy, as opposed to the usual cheap anglo/american version of the food. The cheese on the pizzas was real mozzarella (can't eat cows milk) so a fantastic find for me! A wonderful atmosphere, fantastically attentive staff and real attention to detail. Can't praise it enough.
