Had a great meal at the Dog Inn, excellent staff and service . Wife went for fish and chips and was a perfect portion and everything cooked to perfection . I went for the Beef Tacos from the special menu and they were awesome, really well cooked and tasty. Would also definitley recommend the chicken wings on the starters menu but starter and main require a big appetite..... love the vibe in this pub and background music creates a really good atmosphere will definitley be back.

Delicious food as always and lovely service. One issue. We weren’t aware of a 10% service charge automatically added to bill.

Excellent Sunday lunch roast. We have had a good meal here previously when visiting Mellor. As we found ourselves in the area again we did not hesitate to book. We had a delicious meal especially of note was the cabbage. All the vegetables were tasty and nicely cooked. We followed our mains with desserts and they were just as tasty. A bonus was the two mains for £34 offer. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. The atmosphere and ambience was good. We would definitely recommend a visit.

First time booking. Cheese Pie was to die for. Portion size was good for lunchtime. Service was great. Reasonable prices for lunch menu. Will certainly be booking again.

Well I really wanted to give a glowing review as I did for the meal we received on Sunday 28th June 2026, but unfortunately I can’t. We had two beef roast dinners as last time, but it was no where near as good. Broccoli was too hard and the cauliflower cheese was hard too and nowhere near as good as last time, the cheese sauce looked n tasted rather gloppy like it had been made from a packet, unfortunately. The meat was also not as good as last time hard to cut. Looked amazing when it was brought to the table, but it was disappointing to be honest. We will go again to give it another try though. Service was very good from the girls.

We always enjoy meals at The Traders, the new menu was great. I had the crispy beef with Singapore noodles, delicious. Atmosphere as always great & excellent service.

Sunday lunch . It was very busy .. just a short wait from ordering to being served .. excellent roast dinner .. very helpful and pleasant staff .. good choice of deserts also very tasty .. competitively priced .. will come again .. highly recommended..

This is our go-to local and we feel lucky. The food is great. Tonight, the special duck with plum sauce was exceptional and the salads yummy. Chips here are always to die for! There’s a great atmosphere with wonderful, friendly, attentive staff - nothing is too much trouble. All this at a very good price. What’s not to like?!

Enjoyed meals here on several occasions with friends where service and value for money have always been great. Most recently enjoyed a meal with family and grandchildren. All enjoyed meals and conversation with staff. Kids also met the pub cat which was very welcoming.

Another excellent visit. Mark and team offers a great choice of menu along with a few specials to. Fresh tasty ingredients. Chippy tea on a Friday well worth the £s. My favourite scallops and the myshroom starters. See you again soon.

This is a very friendly and welcoming village pub/restaurant! Food is excellent, especially the Sunday roasts. I love the warm atmosphere and vibe.

Lovely food and excellent service!

Food is fantastic, staff are really friendly and helpful and proud of the service they provide, they were more than willing to clarify my questions about the suitability of my choice for a Celiac, gluten free options were really good finished of with a gluten free peach cobbler for pudding, thank you we will definitely be back.

The Food at the Dog Inn is always fresh and cooked to order. Always plentiful and the staff are super friendly. I have never had a bad meal here and the meals are very reasonably priced. Long may it last! Thanks

We had a lovely meal at the Dog, I had the steak pie and my wife had the Chicken supreme with fresh vegetables and chips. It’s in a lovely setting overlooking the valley and the staff were very nice and attentive. The only criticism we have is that the music whilst being proper music, unlike some places we have been to that have that horrible electronic music. Which for us was just a little too loud for our liking.
