Kirkby Lonsdale is a historic market town located on the border between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales on the River Lune. Famous for it's Devils Bridge - a regular meeting place for motorcyclists and it's Victorian Fair held every September. There are many dining options including pubs, tearooms and hotels.

I ate Sunday lunch at the Lunesdale Arms with a friend and despite it being very busy due to being Mother’s Day, I was delighted that the food and service were just as good as usual and the prices the same. We were also given a small gift bag when we left which was a nice touch. Highly recommended.

Met friends for lunch. Food was very nice and hot, would definitely recommend the cheese and onion pie the nicest I’ve ever eaten. A pleasant dining experience, although the room felt chilly on arrival. Service very friendly and prompt.

Had a very pleasant Sunday Lunch at the Lunesdale Arms. I always enjoy going there and although it had been a while since my last visit, I was pleased to discover that it is as good as ever. I have already booked a return visit.

Excellent food, 2 mixed grills 2 burgers all cooked perfectly, large portions plenty on the plates which is a pleasant surprise!

Fantastic meal and friendly service. We had the Tempura Prawns to start which were really nice, followed by Tuscan Chicken with Butter Beans and the Roast Beef, both dishes cooked to perfection, very tasty. The decor is top notch, modern and classy, with a lovely warm atmosphere and great staff. Will definitely visit again.

Nice place and atmosphere. It was fairly busy when we dined, but a tad cold. Most of the food was good. The fish pie was supposed to be in a ‘creamy veloute’, unfortunately it was dry under the mashed potatoes. There was plenty of fish and the taste was good. The only zero lager was Peroni which was acceptable, but l would have preferred a choice. Why not do half portions!? I do not like to be over faced. I couldn’t have eaten the roast dinner as too big.

Not the best meal in the 20 plus years of supporting this place. Soufflés starter was excellent, but the main course ( brisket with pancetta in a suet crust) was uninspired, lacking flavour and veg ditto. The portion (and my wife’s different choice ) were huge. Much too big. Reduce the portions please and bring back the flavour. Service attentive and friendly, and wine prices very reasonable.

I booked a table for five at 12-00 on a Wednesday. They were aware of the booking and we were quickly shown to our table. Both starters and mains arrived in good time. The service was good and attentive and we all enjoyed the food. The servings were all a good size. I would go again. The heating could have done with being set a little warmer.

Table booked for 7.45pm and our order wasn’t taken until 8.15pm. To wait half an hour wasn’t great. Starter arrived at 8.40pm and main at 9.05pm. This wasn’t really acceptable for a 7.45pm reservation. Food was ok but my mash was just warm, as we’d waited so long I didn’t send it back. The restaurant wasn’t busy just didn’t seem to have enough staff. No wine list on the table and had to ask for it. Jug of water brought to the table but the jug was ridiculously heavy!

I booked the Lunesdale for 5/2 at 1pm for 4 our friends arrived before us and were told there was no reservation under our name which obviously perplexed them - and me when we arrived soon after particularly as I had received confirmation of the booking on email. The service was prompt, although a bit more training might be in order on how to deliver food and clear the table - lots of leaning across people with plates rather than walking around the table to deliver/collect plates. Or asking us to pass the plate. Two of us had fish and chips, the fish was over cooked and dry and the mushy peas tasted burnt. One person had the kebab, the chicken was tough and another had a chicken and broad bean dish, the chicken was overcooked and dry. Not a good result. With a bottle of wine and a glass of red and one starter the bill was £137.00 for a disappointing experience.
