A lovely inn, serving delicious food. My rhubarb and ginger gin was made all the more special with a sprinkling of freeze dried raspberries.
Lunesdale Arms – Kirkby Lonsdale
Kirkby Lonsdale is a historic market town located on the border between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales on the River Lune. Famous for it's Devils Bridge - a regular meeting place for motorcyclists and it's Victorian Fair held every September. There are many dining options including pubs, tearooms and hotels.

Lunesdale Arms – Kirkby LonsdaleWe came for Sunday lunch on the 13/6/26. We had a Sunday roast which was very good. It was great value for money and the staff were excellent. The room is lovely. Would recommend it to friends.
Lunesdale Arms – Kirkby LonsdaleHad a lovely meal, two courses, couldnt manage a third but certain it would have been delicious as was all the food we had, service was really good too and the setting is lovely

Lunesdale Arms – Kirkby LonsdaleGreat food, beer, service and atmosphere. Can highly recommend.
Lunesdale Arms – Kirkby LonsdaleFood was delicious! Prices are very good. Staff were lovely with perfect level of attentiveness. Interior isn’t perhaps what you’d expect, very modern, open space. Highly recommend a visit! If I lived nearer I’d definitely return.
Lunesdale Arms – Kirkby LonsdaleThis was a Friday night birthday meal with excellent service and food (if rather large portions!) We were pleased to find that soft drink costs were very reasonable, given the rip off prices charged in many venues. Excellent: would recommend!
Lunesdale Arms – Kirkby LonsdaleSad to say this was a very disappointing meal. Badly prepared food this week - confirmed that a sou chef/junior chef had made the lunches. Greek salad contained more than 100grams of olives - you had to fight through the olives to find anything else. Fish pie was overcooked - completely dry where all the sauce had boiled out. We will be taking a break from the Lunesdale until we hear that is a proper chef at all times - Staff were lovely. I think the review from "Caroline and Joe" below is a fake "masterclass in modern gastronomy" - clueless.
Lunesdale Arms – Kirkby LonsdaleAmazing food, good selection and plenty of it. The Staff couldn’t do enough for us moved our table when they realised my grandmother had mobility issues and were constantly checking in. Thank you all
Lunesdale Arms – Kirkby LonsdaleThe WELCOME: Stepinside, and you are greeted by an atmosphere that balances rustic historic charm with contemporary elegance. The service is a standout feature; exceptionally attentive, welcoming, and knowledgeable without ever feeling overbearing. Every so often, a lunch/dinner transitions from a simple meal into a genuinely memorable event. This spectacular dining experience achieved exactly that. It seamlessly combined flawless technique, warm hospitality, and a vibrant atmosphere into an absolute masterclass in modern gastronomy. The menu is a brilliant celebration of seasonal ingredients, where classic flavour combinations are elevated by inventive, modern techniques. My Verdict This was not just lunch it was a flawless culinary journey. From the precision of the kitchen to the effortless grace of the service, every element was executed to absolute perfection. For anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion—or simply experience dining at its absolute finest—this is an absolute must-visit. Thank you team from Joe & Caroline
Lunesdale Arms – Kirkby LonsdaleSadly this is the second disappointing visit in recent months. Today we arrived at 7.15 and waited for 20 minutes for drinks. We then continued to wait for our order to be taken. After another 15 minutes the waitress informed us there were a large number of items unavailable. When we visited on a Sunday a few weeks ago, by 5.30 there were no roasts left. Neither was there fish pie, lamb or mixed grill. Both times we ended up with burgers which were ok but not what we had gone for. Very disappointed and will sadly not be giving it a third chance. Plenty of other local pubs and restaurants that we currently feel are providing a better service.
Lunesdale Arms – Kirkby LonsdaleAn absolutely delicious freshly made meal was enjoyed by us all. My husband had the bacon chop, our friend the chicken Caesar salad and I the beef brisket and pancetta roly poly. Our two puddings were the honeycomb cheesecake and dark chocolate and banana Eton Mess. Each dish was an absolute joy to eat! Clearly quality ingredients and perfectly prepared. The atmosphere was warm and inviting … and all the tables were full. We will definitely look forward to returning. Thank you for serving beautiful food (and at sensible prices), it is appreciated.
Lunesdale Arms – Kirkby LonsdaleI would highly recommend The Lunesdale Arms. We had a group of 10 for a celebration. We had to pre book our food but that was no problem and the menu was varied and extensive. Everyone enjoyed the menu choices. The communication between staff and myself was done via phone and email and very easily done. Plenty of parking front and back. Lovely village location. Staff friendly, helpful and attentive. Meal absolutely brilliant. Starters of Spanish hash, chefs scotch egg, mussels, calamari and broccoli temporal where complemented and devoured. Mains were also wonderful. The mixed grills were huge but in our family there are some comparable appetites so the food was eaten. One person couldn't manage all their chicken kebab but staff boxed it to take home. All the food was delicious and everyone enjoyed the meal. Drinks were served throughout the meal and water replaced. We went on a Wednesday night and there were other dinners but the atmosphere was nice and not noisey so the conversations around the table were flowing and could be heard. If we were in the area again, we would definitely go again. We were all on a weeks holiday.
Lunesdale Arms – Kirkby LonsdaleAnother wonderful Sunday lunch. The lamb was amazing and the veggie options delicious too (eg the veggie parcel). The staff handled with great diplomacy an extremely demanding and unpleasant woman who wanted the table that had been prepared for us. The waiter apologetically asked us to move which we happily did, to an equally good table and area, and quietly gave us a complementary drink and desert. Impressive. Personally I'd have thrown that party out of the place. Who needs people like that? But the staff at the Lunesdale Arms are far more professional than me...
Lunesdale Arms – Kirkby LonsdaleGood service, good food and good ambience . Not alot more to say. Will be back
