I have visited MJ's restaurant a number of times and the fact that i keep going back tells you what i think of it. I thought it was about time i let the whole world know just how good this place is. The whole restaurant has a very nice feel to it with the decoration and design very modern. There are lots of nice touches such as large fish tanks embedded into the wall with fancy fish swimming around. The service as you walk in is second to none with the kind staff offering to take your coat and then get your drinks in for you while you take a seat on the comfy, modern chairs. The Menu is superb with lots of choice and for what you get, the price is simply excellent. I always believe that a restaurant has to have good service to win me over, and MJ's certainly has that and on top of that the food is delicious! The corn-fed chicken is a personal favourite of mine. As well as excellent food, the presentation of the food is also second to none. Not only does the food taste great, it looks the part too! The meal has not been thrown together in the kitchen and rushed to your table, a great deal of thought has gone into it! MJ's is certainly the best restaurant in the area as far as im concerned and i know i have not eaten there for the last time! I would absolutely recommend it to anyone!

This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend who informed me that Rob Povall is the chef at Haighton Manor. I use to dine at Campions (must be 8 years ago) were Rob Povall was the chef, so on hearing his name again I had to visit. I was not disappointed the food was fantastic I'll certainly be dining at Haighton manor in the near future.
Haighton Manor Country House Hotel – PrestonAs a new contemporary restaurant in Darwen I suppose you could say that I'd taken a risk booking here for my mum's 60th. But I just knew it would be a triumph for Neil and the team - and it was. The food was outstanding, the service friendly and interesting (thanks you for waiters with a repertoire outside of - 'here is your table, would you like to see the menu'), the setting brilliant (if your partner stares over your shoulder in a vague fashion he isn't bored he is fascinated by the fishtank), the pricing fair. This is a hidden gem in Darwen and I challenge anyone not to have a fabulous night out - whatever the occasion. You will also find yourself 'thinking Lancashire' and taking some of the passion of the chef with you into your own kitchen. My mum, my nan, and all their friends have made return visits since our celebration evening and are passing on the good word to everyone they know. You too can do the same!
Springbank Manor – DarwenHi All, Thought I would update you on the change of ownership at the Viceroy. The place has been re-vamped, new furniture, carpets (not the stairs - sorry) all new colour scheme. I think its very nice. A new chef in from Dubai, the food is superb. Yoy will not be disappointed, its gone slightly up market. My only concern if you want no hassle, don't go at pub closing time, if you know what I mean.

Have been going here for a good number of years. Generally good Italian cuisine but not many italian staff! Despite always booking never expect to sit down usually up to an hour later than your booking time. Also they also seem to have a high staff turnover of waiting-on staff, usually college age people. Went recently and no rest period between first and second course which I find unacceptable. Despite the above the spare ribs are our fave...the garlic bread to die for... the pollo ala creme yum yum and my favourite the calzone pizza

The Cafe Bar – PrestonThis area is lacking of fine dining and cassis is definitely setting its stall out with talk of a Michelin star. I think there is a way to go. The place itself is welcoming and the manager was very attentive. When aiming so high everything has to be almost perfect. The food was very good, not sure about whole black peppercorns to ruin a nice beef dish, when the flavours are so delicate this is far too overpowering. i found the other staff to be less than knowledgeable about the food and I don’t like eyes burning into my head waiting for us to finish. Tell the chefs to stay in the kitchen instead of rummaging in the cutlery draw for all to see. Maybe I’m being picky but when you are asking for such accolades these things must be addressed. That said the other dishes are of 2/3 rosette standard and overall the evening was quite pleasant.
Mr Freds @ Stanley House – Blackburni had my stag night meal there, it was fantastic, the waitors were very polite, a gentlemen call kan was very outstandingly polite and looked after me and all my friends, i would recommend this restaurant to the whole world, the curries spiced up my night. everbody out there knowing about the Agra go and try their food, its WALLAH

Balti House – BlackburnThe setting is outstanding, especially if you are lucky enough to have a window table. The food is delicious and I really liked their attitude towards our 13 & 9 yr old children. Without us having to ask, we were told they would do smaller sized portions of the menu for the children and could do a couple of different dishes if nothing appealed to them. They were also happy to serve any sauces on the side, rather than over the dish to enable to children to try the sauces/dressings first. The waiter was attentive and again, made an understated fuss of the children - he got it just right. My daughter asserted the sea bass was the best she'd ever had! The food was faultless. The only negative thing I would say is that having been several times now, it's rather formal and the majority of the customers on every occasion have been in their 50's & over. It's a place where we take our parents on special occasions, & they absolutely adore it, but we wouldn't go there on our own. If it's a modern place with a buzzy atmosphere, this is not the place for you.

Thyme and Plaice – ChorleyI have eaten at many of Lancaster's establishments, and the sun Cafe is a cut above. The atmosphere from when you enter the funky building is very relaxed. The service is spot on and the food is some of the best in the area. I will always visit when I am in the area, a great place in a great city.
The Secret Bistro – LancasterI have just returned from an amazingly fabulous dining experience at the blue elephant. At 10.30pm at night I had expected a restaurant that was almost closing, but no - there were loads of people still eating and yet without a booking they squeezed me in. The waiters are exceptionally friendly and nothing is too much trouble. I was particularly impressed by the way I was asked after the starter if I would like the main course straight away or to wait a little while (even though by now it was getting onto 11pm - definitely not ushering me out the door). The chefs are highly trained and even offer cookery classes (with 10% of the price going to charity!) The food was delicious - the chicken I ate was extremely tender and there were no grisly bits at all (I am very fussy!!) The poppadoms came with a large selection of dips and I couldn't count the number of times the friendly waiters asked if everything was alright. I don't think any other restaurant I have been to (no matter what genre of food it served) has topped this one!! Oh and the portions were huge - we took the rest home as a take-away for breakfast!!! This restaurant really deserves to be given a higher profile on this website - It ticks all the boxes - ambience was great - not too dark, modern decor with screened off quiet areas and plenty of people dining all at nearly 11pm at night!!! It is popular and I can see why!
The Elephant – ChorleyI went for the first time last night and was greeted charmingly by Tracey, the Manager. A light supper was what I wanted. She suggested garlic bread and Mediterranean dips with a glass of Chardonnay whilst looking at the large menu plus 6 special starters and mains. There is a good selection of pastas and pizza at £8/9, however the Beef Stroganoff took my eye on the main menu, it turned out to be excellent, accompanied by a good mixed salad. With another large glass of wine and an espresso the bill was £30.95. Staff were attentive but not a pain and no one said "no problem". The refurb I thought has been done well, Tracey obviously has the experience to make it work. I will definitely go again soon.
The Halfway House – ChorleyBy far the best bar in Rawtenstall - once inside, you would think you were in an upper-class, trendy Manchester establishment. The drinks are a little bit more pricey than the usual "run-of-the-mill" watering holes in the town, but this is far in excess of "run-of-the-mill" and well worth paying the extra money for. However, when compared with similar type venues in other, larger towns and cities, the prices appear average. The food is great too, with a good selection - the wedges and dips are my top tip! The atmosphere is fantastic - there is a great vibe about the place. The music is loud, but not too loud so that you cannot hold a conversation. There is comfortable seating too, which is just a great bonus and helps you to relax. On summer days, when the sun is cracking the flags, there are numerous tables to the front of the bar - actually outside on a small patio area - the perfect place to sit with a chilled bottle of wine or a cold beer on a hot summers evening. The staff are always very accommodating, and not once have they attempted to hurry us out the door after having consumed food and drinks. The staff are always friendly and chatting - despite being (usually) run off their feet. Overall, the best place in town!

Try it for yourselves, you will receive a warm welcome from Mario on your visit and if it's your birthday, get ready for all of the restaurant singing Happy Birthday to you!!
Mario’s Ristorante – BarnoldswickDoes a nice take away and is lovely to eat in. Staff seemed a little stand offish when we first arrived, but soon became more friendly. I would recommend this restaurant for a great meal.
