Sultan Of Lancaster – LancasterVery disappointing! We have lived in Lancaster for a while now, and we're looking forward to visiting. The place looks very impressive with it being an old Methodist church. When entering, there is a lot of decoration, which again looked quite beautiful. However, the carpet was absolutely filthy, with it being nearly black where people have obviously walked, and the toilet floor was very sticky, like being in a nightclub. We had the early bird menu, just because we had booked at 6pm..We didn't realise there was an early bird menu until we got there. Very disappointing. The portions were very small and the main course looked like a ready meal. We were told this was because of us choosing the early bird menu. When we have visited other restaurants, and had the early bird menu, we have still got the same amount of food as the main, and the quality has been as good as the main menu. To us, the idea is to get people in during the quiet period and to give people good quality food and quantity, so that you will leave and recommend the restaurant to others. We will not recommend any one to go here!
Sultan Of Lancaster – LancasterA few friends and I recently enjoyed a fabulous meal at this restaurant. We had starters and main courses of which all of us thoroughly enjoyed. The only negatives I can say is that the restaurant doesn’t serve alcohol, and the atmosphere was a little too quiet/cold (2/5) but that didn’t stop us from enjoying the food. A little bit on the high side price wise and situated in the centre of Lancaster.

The dessert were really tasty too. The portion size could have been a bit better, especially the chips, but still very enjoyable. We will be booking again soon.

Wagon and Horses – LancasterWent for a Sunday roast dinner, and we both had fish cake starters, they were lovely, tasty and a good size. The main event was Roast beef served with carrot, parsnips, broccoli, red cabbage, roast and mashed potatoes with a fresh Yorkshire pudding on top. The meat was a generous portion and tasted great. Highly recommended.

Wagon and Horses – LancasterI had booked an evening meal at the Sultan for my wife and I. I had booked it for 7pm but due to our bus into town running faultlessly with very few stops we got into town early. We decided that seeing it was a Thursday they would be quiet so it wouldn't be a problem. We got there and there were a few tables with couples on but be also one huge table with around 30 young men . We were still welcomed and led to our table. The service was great even taking into account the work that must have been going on in the kitchen etc. Our starters and main meals were very nice and I highly recommend the Sultan to anyone who loves Asian food.
Sultan Of Lancaster – LancasterWe have visited Caton regularly over the last 4 years and always eat out at one or both of the local pubs. Unfortunately our experience here on Friday night was really disappointing and we probably won't bother booking again. We waited an hour for our food (having been told that a lot of items on the menu were not available) and there were only three or four other tables of diners in so I'm not sure why it took so long. The young girl serving us was a delight and she couldn't have been more helpful/ apologetic, but if it hadn't been for her we would have probably walked out. The food, when it arrived, was quite nice and we ate it all but we didn't bother with a dessert and just wanted to leave. Quite a shame for a birthday meal, although we did appreciate the complimentary drink offered as an apology .
