Beyond disappointed. I dined at the Sultan pre COVID and had a great meal but the standard has definitely slipped. Firstly they don't respond to emails sent via their own website. We emailed a week in advance of our booking to ask if we could take a bottle of wine as we understand almost all Indian restaurants don't serve alcohol but in our experience, most will allow you to take your own. We got no reply so chanced it and asked as soon as we arrived if it was okay. We were made to feel as if we had taken an illegal substance into the premises! Embarrassing encounter with our server and made to take the bottle off the premises which seemed extreme. Absolutely no issue not opening it but to be made to feel very uncomfortable was unnecessary. The food was below average, very VERY oily and greasy, with little to no flavour and very unsettled stomachs the next day. The restaurant decor is tired and in need of a refresh. Such a shame as it used to be a really good place to eat. Would recommend going somewhere else!
