Excellent Food and service as always. Recommended.
Wagon and Horses – LancasterA very disappointing visit to The Ship for a family meal out. Food was very average and seemed quite overpriced for what you got. Unfortunately, our visit collided with a lively group of mainly men stood around the bar, which was quite intimidating when we entered. Their language was foul and a heated argument erupted so the atmosphere was definitely not relaxing! This was not what we were expecting to deal with in front of our three sons. A woman was also openly vaping in front of bar staff and nothing was said to her. The behaviour of other guests should have been dealt with more appropriately. A man apologised for his language on our way out but our evening had been ruined. We were barely there for an hour and asked for the bill as soon as we’d finished. I think the restaurant has changed owners a couple of times in the last few years but it’s safe to say we won’t be returning any time soon.
Ship Inn – LancasterDisappointing Valentine’s Evening meal. Menus not ready when we arrived and service poor. We expected the main menu to be available alongside the Valentine’s one. Lots of dishes unavailable so choice was limited. Spoke to other diners and they were of the same opinion. Will not be visiting again.
Ship Inn – LancasterGreat food and attentive service as always.
Sultan Of Lancaster – LancasterThe food and service were fine but wheelchair accessibility not great. The cobbles in front of the door were very difficult to negotiate in a wheelchair and the disabled toilet is too small and there’s a wall jutting out right in front of it! A more thoughtful approach to disabled access at this pub is needed I think.
The Waterwitch – LancasterThe service was dreadful. The atmosphere was ok and the food was not bad but also not very good. Too much of the food is tinned and ghastly added colouring. But a slow and surly waiter who was unobliging in every respect is disappointing. We are looking for a more welcoming Indian restuarant in Lancaster.
Sultan Of Lancaster – LancasterWe visited for Sunday lunch, not having been in the inn for some 20+ years. The Crook hand pump ale was excellent. Sunday lunch consisted of roast beef with roast and mash, yorkshire pudding and vegetables and lashings of superb gravy. The beef was wonderful, as good as any that I have eaten and very much better that lots. This was a beautiful plate of food, served in a timely manner by very helpful staff. I would, and will, be very pleased to go back to try it again.
Ship Inn – LancasterVisited here at the weekend as we were staying in the area. Overall very disappointing- firstly they couldn't find our reservation then we were seated and waited over 30 minutes to get menus. During this time there was an altercation between the ?manager and 2 ladies who had complained about the food being cold. The way this man shouted at the customers was dreadful. At least 3 other tables who arrived after us were served and eventually after about an hour we got our food which wasn't very hot. Meat very fatty, vegetables over cooked and roast potatoes reheated/refried. Extra gravy came in a ramekin as opposed to a gravy boat that other tables got. There was an offer on for 2 meals for £20 which was just as well as we would not have paid the £18.50 per head! Staff were disorganised with only one seeming to know what was going on. Whilst we were waiting for our food the chef was in the bar chatting to someone. We did express our disappointment in the food but nobody came to talk to us about it. Given the attitude of the manager to previous customers it was a blessing in disguise I suppose
Ship Inn – LancasterThe food and service was exceptional. We eat alot on the curry mile in Manchester. Lets just say the Sultan of Lancaster is very understated. Excellent food and spices , will go again.
Sultan Of Lancaster – LancasterI was very surprised to recieve a thank you email today asking me to make a review following a booking made for new years eve at 18:30. The reason I was taken aback by this was that as we arrived prompty to take up our reservation for 4 on time, we were informed by a very embarassed server that the chef had closed the kitchen and was no longer serving food. As you can imagine this left us high and dry on new years eve with no option but to walk back home (yes we are all locals) and start cooking! The pub had my contact details and not even attempted to contact me, we are disgusted with their complete absence of customer service and shocking lack of care.
Ship Inn – LancasterAbsolutely love it at the Water Witch! Great food, very reasonable price (especially from the lunch menu on weekdays), friendly and helpful staff. Brilliant location by the canal. It’s dog friendly too! Highly recommended!
The Waterwitch – LancasterFood was good for pub food what you'd expect value for money was great coming from a major city you would expect to pay twice as much
Ship Inn – LancasterGreat setting in a lovely building. Food & service great !
Sultan Of Lancaster – LancasterWe popped in for a Sunday Roast just before Christmas and had a great time. Surprisingly it was not busy and we got first class service and a great meal. The location is great because the pub is light and airy and looks over the river.
Wagon and Horses – LancasterFab building in the heart of Lancaster for an Indian restaurant! The interior lent itself to the setting. Service was great, food excellent, with a great choice of classic and traditional dishes. We went on a wet Monday night in December so the restaurant was naturally quiet hence a slightly lower score on the atmosphere, but nevertheless we will return definitely!
Sultan Of Lancaster – LancasterEasy to book with great staff accomadating a late request. Good food with a great selection of beers to wet the appetite. See you soon
The Waterwitch – LancasterExcellent food, probably the best in Lancaster! Tried near enough all the menu, faultless, absolutely beautiful food. The crab and prawn ravioli is fantastic, and tiramisu for a dessert is a must. Good choice of drinks too, and top staff. 5 stars.
Wagon and Horses – LancasterHad an absolutely fantastic meal for my birthday. The service was great, the staff were all friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious, well presented and the portions were very generous. I would absolutely recommend and I will be coming back.
