Unfortunately this visit was very disappointing. It took over an hour for the waitress to take our order (and we had to prompt this). The sharing starters arrived. We had to ask for serviettes and plates. We had to use salt and pepper from a different table. Prior to finishing our starters, five of our mains arrived and our starters had not been cleared. We waited a further 10 minutes for the other mains to arrive. It was clear that the food had been stored under warmers as it had dried out. The chicken and cheese salad contained no cheese and was extremely greasy. Two of the meals were acceptable. The service was poor, we believe to be down to the lack of staff. The food was poor due to the lack of staff serving the food in an acceptable timeframe. The waitresses were very pleasant and dealt with our concerns as best they could. Very disappointing experience.

Very polite staff. Long wait for food. 4 people in our party, 3 had starters and all were very good. Mains - fish n chips was good, steak sandwich was good, vegetarian selection was good. Meat platter was very poor- pulled pork was in fact pork belly and all others items were ok at best. In fairness the cost of the meal was deducted without hassle. If the food was as good as the staff it would be excellent.

It has a very good 'feel' to it, has The Station. Called in 3 or 4 times over the last few months, and always found it friendly and welcoming, yet traditional too. Beers are excellent (had Wainwright and Black Sheep on whenever we've been) and the food is very good. Partner and I shared a veggie pizza, the veggie chilli on nachos, and some sweet potato fries, and our friend had the cheese pie and chips - all of us were happy. Will definitely be back.

Perfect as usual

My husband visited the Station Hotel at Caton on Xmas Eve. We had the 3 course Christmas menu which was very good. However, the portions are very generous and I was unable to finish my meal. Good value for money and attentive staff in a relaxed atmosphere.

We visited in Christmas eve after positive reviews from friends. It wasn't a busy evening but food took more than 30 minutes for food to arrive. When it arrived we asked for condiments which did not materialise until we had asked again and we had nearly finished our food the staff looked completely flustered despite it being quite quiet. The food was almost inedible due to the amount of salt which had been added. We mentioned this to the waitress when the plates were cleared and the manager came to speak to us. He apologised and explained we were the third table to complain about the salt in the food. It was agreed we would pay only part of the food bill. For a limited menu it was hard to believe the chef could have got it so wrong, and the prices are too high for what food they do serve.

If you want proper pub food you won’t be disappointed.

Food was nice and the decor was lovely, but the service was shocking. It took almost an hour for our drinks to even arrive, with the soft drink for the child in our group not even coming out until we complained. The service was unbelievable slow and when we asked about where things where we were met by no apology and a bit of an attitude. Unfortunately the waiting staff let this place down.

When I go to a restaurant and write a review I think about what could be better or is already good. Things that don't need improving are the Mango laasi and home made naan bread which were excellent. Could improve the naan bread more by brushing it with ghee and cutting into 4. The ambience could be improved by their actually being any. Maybe this could be solved by them getting an alcohol licence. Listening to the people on the next table who had clearly been in the pub for several hours before coming for food was quite annoying but there was nothing else going on. in the distance I could see some screens from lockdown/covid restrictions and thick layers of dust on the tables. Our own table wobbled and all the furniture is wobbly and old and should be replaced. When our food was delivered it was brought on a trolley and deposited on the table with a here's this dish and here's the naan bread. No clue why. They should just carry it on trays and give the servers chance to earn a tip and look busy and bin the trolleys and bin the horrible old carpet. I assume the black dressed servers were students there were plenty of them but they managed to forget my drink. Perhaps give them a uniform to be proud of. We had a lamb curry (Naga) and a chicken curry from the special menu. Lamb was overcooked and very small pieces but flavour was good. Chicken was one of those old fashioned English curry house yellow coloured featuring 7 pieces of chicken that were probably pre seasoned then have the yellow almond heavy gravy added. Tasted of nothing but almonds. It was supposed to be £17.95 but we were charged for something different. It was only worth £6 on takeaway in my opinion. Fresh samosas to start were tasty but don't know why they had sweetcorn in. We didn't have a pudding but do not want an English pudding after curry. Overall impression was a very tired old fashioned restaurant without personality or gastronomy. Maybe whoever runs it should visit Mowgli in Preston to see what great Indian food can be. They should also sweep the front steps to give kerb appeal. Last note-when we arrived our candle had already burnt out. I took it out of the candle holder and put it on the table. 6 times we were visited and no one gave us a new candle or took the used one away. I don't know if they didn't care or couldn't be bothered. I suspect the latter. I feel the same way.

Fantastic food. Over the last few visits I and my friends have had the burger, the hanging kebab, the katsu curry and the club sandwich. Everything has been delicious. The portions are very generous. The last time there was a large group there, so service was slower but normally it's fine. Nice warm modern pub with nice toilets. They allow dogs which I don't like but not a problem.

We’ve eaten here for years, and maybe it’s me that’s changed but I didn’t enjoy my experience this time. The place looks tired and lacks atmosphere. Food was ok but not excellent and the service was vague and unprofessional.

Excellent meal, nice and relaxed between courses, lovely staff. Couldn't fault anything.

My husband and I had an evening meal in Sydneys a number of weeks ago, the food was excellent and the building has a lovely feel to it.....very cosy. We did have to wait a while for our food as they were very busy however this didn't put me off enquiring about Christmas works do ......they have a private room on the top floor which seats upto 25 which was perfect so after informing my work colleagues we decided to book......as time went on I printed the menus including the festive menu so there was plenty of choice, I have to say I was a bit apprehensive because I did find the staff member I dealt with a bit negative over several quite basic enquiries.....I made everything very easy for them by collecting in deposits and writing a list of all names and food orders, I also provided crackers party poppers napkins etc as there was a £5 charge for a glass of prosecco on arrival with a cracker, which we declined as not many of us like prosecco and I thought it was a bit tight of them not to provide crackers but never mind as all went well on the evening and the food, service and the room was all excellent and they made plenty on the bar....the staff members I dealt with on the run up just need to be a bit more friendly and less negative because all in all its a lovely venue.

Worth a miss! Firstly, let's say, the little food we were presented with was tasty. The serving staff were friendly and attentive. However, the time taken to be served our meal, when the place was less than 15% occupied was very poor, nearly 1.5 hours. When we finally did receive our main course, to say there was very little on the plate would be an understatement. We had heard before that service was slow but we didn't expect it to be this slow and the amount of food to be so little. The kind lady did sort the bill for us, however, a very poor experience and clearly it appears to be a known issue.

Lovely evening. Top food, great staff and lovely atmosphere. Nothing to fault, we had fun. Thank you all
