Excellent food and great service
Sultan Of Lancaster – LancasterFirst time visitors. We ate at The Station on a Wednesday evening. There were quite afew people in the pub when we arrived at 6.30pm so a nice atmosphere. A member of staff showed us to our table and took our drinks order. The menu is extensive. We all ordered different things and we didn't have to wait long for the food. 5 clean plates went back to the kitchen. All the staff were friendly, polite and efficient. Food and drink were good value. We will definitely be back.
The Station Hotel – LancasterBooked in for an evening meal and although it looked really nice on the outside, the inside seemed quite dated and the table was rocking back and forth whenever you leaned on it even slightly. It was also really quiet in there, to the point you didnt want to have a conversation because others in there could clearly hear everything you were saying. As another review has said, it really does feel like a canteen. Food however was really nice and one of the best naan breads we've had, cannot criticize the food at all and if you want a good Indian meal then I'd surely recommend this. However for atmosphere and quality of the establishment furnishings perhaps takeout is your best option until they improve.
Sultan Of Lancaster – LancasterBooked a table for 8pm and mentioned we had a gluten free diner. Upon arrival we stood at the sign saying wait to be seated for a minute, no one came so we asked the guy behind the bar, he told us to take a seat near the bar and someone would seat us. Waited for about 5 mins and we were then taken upstairs. I asked the waitress if they had a gluten free menu, she said they didn't but would come and tell us the options. We sat for about 10 mins and a different waitress came to ask us for our food order, we hadn't been told any gf options yet, so just ordered drinks. The first waitress came back with the drinks and asked if we were ready to order, she still hadn't told us about gf options. Once that was done my wife ordered the baked salad, with chicken option and asked for no onions due to an allergy. I got some of the small plates, the first dish arrived, we were then asked by a different waitress if our food was OK, when we only had one plate on the table. The rest of the food came a minute or two after. The salad my wife ordered came with no chicken on it and covered in onions. We then asked the waiter about this, and he said he'd check if we'd been charged for chicken. No apology or offer to replace it. Other than this the food was decent, if a little expensive for what you got. The service felt a little all over the place, with different waiters and waitresses trying hard, but it was very disjointed. Somewhat spoilt the visit. They were all polite and pleasant, but it looked like they were all either pretty new, or just not communicating who was doing what for each table. It might be better to visit when it's a little quieter, as they struggled a bit when there was a few dining tables in. Would consider returning for maybe the lunch menu, but I don't think I'd go for another evening meal.
Sydney’s of Lancaster – LancasterGood food, but very disappointed after seeing “Grill night” advertised on website and then when viewing the menu on arrival and realising that it no longer exists! Reluctant to return.
The Waterwitch – LancasterIt was our first time visiting - though we only live in the next door village! We welcomed from the outset with friendly staff who were most attentive. Food was lovely and excellent value. A roaring success and we will be back for sure!
The Station Hotel – LancasterFriendly staff, good food and properly dog-friendly. Family lunch with our son, who's a student at the Uni. Student discount volunteered - both he and we will be back.
The Waterwitch – LancasterExcellent experience. Lovely staff food arrived promptly , we were a family group and everyone really enjoyed their food . Our sons at uni and is planning to come back .
The Waterwitch – LancasterMeal was spot on, service was brilliant also. Would 1000% come back
Sydney’s of Lancaster – LancasterWent to the station with a couple of friends. Food was really nice and reasonably priced. One friend is gluten free and there are plenty of options. For the first time since becoming gluten free she was able to enjoy a sticky toffee pudding whilst out for dinner which really surprised and impressed her. Lovely atmosphere and all the staff were lovely. Definitely be back soon.
The Station Hotel – LancasterDelicious food, lovely service, beautiful surroundings
Sultan Of Lancaster – LancasterWe came to The Station for a date night and it was perfect. Great, tasty food (pie and chips and ribs and wings) and everything was spot on. The jalapeño poppers to start were lush. Service was speedy and helpful and, of course, the beer was on good form. Thank you!
The Station Hotel – LancasterThe food was delicious as always but the service was poor. We had our food at around 8pm and then no one came to clear the table or offer us more drinks/desserts. At 9:30 we had to go and find someone to get the bill. Disappointing when the food was so good
Sydney’s of Lancaster – LancasterThe sunday lunch and chicken stack were both good. The dessert - a creme brulee - was small and somewhat overpriced. Service was pleasant.
Sydney’s of Lancaster – LancasterWe have eaten here many times but it now feels like a canteen. The restaurant is dated and the service is poor. We had to ask multiple times for water and in the end had to go and get it ourselves! We had dirty plates building up between courses that were not cleared away and had to keep asking for cutlery. The staff were surly and rude. It wasn’t busy but they were just standing around chatting and not doing their job. As we had gone out for a birthday meal it ruined the day. We won’t be going again. I recommend that you spend your money elsewhere.
Sultan Of Lancaster – LancasterFirst time on a visit to see our daughter at uni. The hanging tandoori chicken kebab was lovely and ribs got a thumbs up. Good value with the discount for grill night and staff are really friendly and helpful. Would be lovely in the summer when can sit outside by the canal. Would recommend and my daughter definitely coming back to try one of the other specials nights.
The Waterwitch – LancasterGreat food, choice and service
Sultan Of Lancaster – LancasterExcellent food and venue. However some staff must have been new to waiting on. And no uniforms as one man was in a tracksuit and the women where all wearing different clothes
Sydney’s of Lancaster – LancasterTakeaway available at 15% discount to main menu prices - collection only.
