We met friends in York on Friday 14th January and visited Oscars York for lunch. As always the food was excellent and service great. Our only criticism is that the music was so loud we could barely hear ourselves talk (there were only the four of us in the restaurant at the time so I feel the loud music was more for the benefit of the staff than the clientele). Please consider that eating out is a way of enjoying the company of good friends and therefore whilst we thought the type of music was great, turning it down to a lower level would be much appreciated when there are so few people in the bar to absorb the noise level

Nice place to meet up with family for lunch before attending the funeral of a family member. Parking is easy (you need a disc, we used our Cumbria council one). Good choice of food for different requirements, one vegan, 2 veggies and 3 omnivores! Huge portions of fries went down well. And best for us - dogs are welcome. And ours LOVED the Stray with all its squirrels.

The Good Luck club were fantastic- I can't recommend this restaurant enough! I booked for 45+ people and was so impressed by the restaurant team and quality of the food. They went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. Regular communications running up to the evening was also brilliant. Thank you so much the Good Luck team!!

Much confusion due to us was treated with humor and kindness. We look forward to eating at Brooks because we enjoy the food and the service. Brooks doesn’t ever disappoint. We look forward to returning to Brooks soon!

The food was delicious and the service was excellent, loverly atmosphere, staff very friendly. As this is not my first visit and I think this is a great place to eat. I will be back again enjoyed it so much.

Been going to the empress for a long time for the Sunday carvery, but we had a break for a good few months. This Sunday just gone we went back for Sunday lunch - I have noticed they have invested in new serving stations - and the carvery was better than ever! Lots to choose from, large variety of veg, sides, and lots of different meats. Great down to earth proper traditional pub, helpful staff and really nice food.

Top notch delicious food, friendly attentive service. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back when we visit our daughter again whilst she is at Leeds university!

Great spot for a meal after a lovely dog walk on the beach. Good service, lovely food , clean toilets and dogs allowed to sit under the table, perfect!

Good atmosphere and lovely decor. Quite busy so service on the slow side - had to prompt for more drinks coffees etc. Food was tasty and authentic but lamb skewer was on the tough side. Good value for money.

We visited the Cow Shed yesterday and as always the food service and staff were excellent.

This was a very pleasant visit,the food and service were excellent. The occasion was my wife's birthday and she enjoyed what she ate which is not always the case! Also it was a varied menu. Will come again.

We love this place, we always visit when we are on holiday, in fact we book our holidays here because we love the food and the staff are amazing. Highly recommend, definitely worth a visit.
