Beautiful evening meal enjoyed at the Magpie Cafe, tried an Oyster for the first time, lovely would certainly recommend having a go, fresh and flavour options available. Starters of Octopus and Scallops, mains of Magpie Medley and Monkfish, just enough room for puddings... cheese cake and a cheese board! The best cheese board I've sampled ever and what a size! Very enjoyable evening and super friendly staff as always nothing too much trouble

We have visited before and booked in advance as we know how busy it gets. We both had fish and chips with a side of mushy peas which was delicious. I had the small which was more than enough for me, lovely crispy batter and flaky fish. A trip to the Magpie is a must when you come to Whitby.

A visit to celebrate my 81st birthday and to relive previous visits. Our booked table happened to be number 18! Tradition has it that we start by sharing a crab and prawn starter but it wasn't on the menu. Our fantastic waitress said she was sure that it could be provided - and it was! Main courses were sea food pie and skate and chips. Both, as usual, superb - and filling. A lady on a neighbouring table was celebrating her birthday. That, and the friendly conversation we shared, really made the atmosphere special. So well filled that I didn't have anything else to eat until suppertime. Thanks to the kitchen staff, the warm waitress and The Magpie for making this so special, When can I go to Whitby Again? Soon, please.

My dinner was absolutely fantastic. Great service. So pleased we went.

Visited on a cold 30th June . Service was excellent from start to finish , the starters of whitebait and crab bisque were great , albeit the whitebait portion size was huge. Main courses were equally as good , with the scampi and chips being well received and the pan fried scallops, prawns, halibut and salmon dish was superb . Can't fault it.

Excellent fish & chips the best in the world by far, looking forward to returning in August.

No trip to Whitby is complete without a meal at the Magpie. We had one holiday when we didn't go and that holiday has never been spoken of again. Without doubt my favourite fish and chips in the world

Excellent as ever

The well known Magpie Cafe wasn't a disappointment. Extremely busy but well organised. Staff friendly and efficient therefore, good service. The haddock and chips were delicious, fish lovely and white. You are best to book beforehand.

In all honesty, it was the best seafood I have had in the U.K. the service was great and very friendly atmosphere!! Value for money and a great evening. Thank you:) the specials were amazing and the menu was really good. We will be back. Highly recommended!!

Very disappointed! Went for the oysters and mussels, they didn't have either. The seafood pot was nice though. Was overcharged on the bill, but the staff were nice and corrected the bill immediately. Such a shame, I had been looking forward to going to Magpies ☹
