Absolutely tremendous. Every bit as good as James Martin says. Had the seafood sharing platter. So much brought a third home in a doggy bag . Wine pretty good too. Can thoroughly recommend.

31 Castlegate is one of our favourite restaurants. The service is friendly but professional, it’s a lovely small restaurant but the tables are well spaced. But most importantly, the food is outstanding. On our most recent trip we chose from the good value fixed price menu. I had a lovely salmon and smoked haddock fishcake, my husband an excellent crispy pork. My main course risotto was perfectly cooked and an excellent combination of flavours. My husband was also wowed by his confit duck with spinach and dauphinoise potatoes. Great selection of wines too. Highly recommended.

We have been eating here for over 30 years, and have never had a bad meal. The staff are great, very friendly and helpful , and the food is second to none. The Magpie is by far our favourite restaurant. Can't wait till we come here again.

Good, helpful and friendly staff. Clean pub, tables well spaced out and good ventilation. Unfortunately the food was mediocre. The pastry on my vegan pie was so hard that I could hardly cut it and the breadcrumb topping was chewy. My husband's steak pie was also rock hard. Very strange!

Great to have the Good Luck back! Straight forward and tasty menu, perfect for a catch up lunch or client meeting.

As usual,everything was spot on. It's been a long wait in lockdown, but we'll worth the wait.

Perfect dinner, served by the nicest staff ever. Audrey and Pamela are the absolute best. Professional, caring, attentive and so knowledgeable - what more could you ask for? We booked a table on the first evening after lockdown and felt completely safe. As usual, the food was beautifully cooked and presented. The staff are amazing, friendly and professional. Lovely evening

Nice foods, impressed by their self-made reman and sushi rolls. Easy find the restaurant, just next to a bus stop, having a meal next to it is not a good idea but we coped with that as COVID restriction not yet eased. Staff check the table frequently, lovely staffs. I will return and have another one after the lockdown. Highly recommended.

Delicious food when it eventually came, a very long wait though (over an hour). Really good quality burgers and great chips. Sadly our drinks order and food order were both taken incorrectly. Staff very friendly and kind about the errors.

We had a weeks holiday and ate here on our last night. Tables outside were well spaced. Service was excellent and food, although a limited choise due to Covid, was also very good. Lots of friendly staff. I would definetly recommend to anyone wanting a safe meal in good settings. It was dog and children friendly making it ideal for families as well as couples and friends.

We booked a few weeks in advance to have a meal yesterday. Our table was ready when we got there, the staff we're very polite. Its the first time we've been after passing a few times in the past and we weren't disappointed. It was a gorgeous sunny day so we had a beautiful view over the sea. The kids played in the play area while we waited for our food. There was a mix up with the food but staff were very apologetic and it was sorted as quickly as they could so it wasn't a major problem The food was worth the wait. It was very nice. We definitely plan to eat here again in the future .

Was great to be back in my favourite seaside pub staff were very friendly and efficient food was excellent .

The food, drinks, and staff are always wonderful. One of my favourite restaurants in Leeds, could not recommend it more!
