Silver grill – BradfordCalled at Marr Lodge two weeks ago . we have been several times in the past and always been happy. this day we ordered and were advised that they had no new potatoes I was surprised to be told I could have a jacket potato but it would be £1 extra I also ordered fish and chips, this arrived but the fish was all batter and the chips were nearly I cut into the piece of batter to find hardly any fish I Understand Marr Lodge is under new management but this customer will not be visiting again Poor food ,bar staff trying to cope with serving drinks and food ,come on new management buck up please
Marr Lodge – DoncasterI have visited the Old Mill three times in the last month, the first time I was in a party of 5 and we had to wait over an hour for our meal, the second time again in a party of 5 when we had to send one of our orders back as the salmon was not as "fresh" as it should have been. The third time in a party of 4 when 3 of us ordered a chicken dish as our main course, this arrived along with side dishes of salad and chips. The chicken was presented on a bed of "sauce" which I can only liken to barbecue sauce which I never ever put on my food, it spoiled the meal completely, may I suggest if you must include this "sauce" with the chicken meal that you at least put it on one side or preferably in a side dish. Also for some reason the chef decided for me that I would like vinaigrette on my salad -NO! I am a big girl now and would prefer to add "sauces" vinaigrettes, other condiments myself and do not wish to have them added for me prior to being served. It will be a long time before I cross the doorstep of The Old Mill again.
Old Mill, The – BrighouseVisited aldos for my sons birthday 10 4 2012 very disappointed the food was not good.
Aldo’s Pizzeria – Cleckheatonhad lunch at this charming country gastro pub and was very impressed with the quality of food available, service with a smile and the ambiance. This place is well worth a visit!!
Duke Of Wellington – HarewoodWe made an overnight stop at the Frenchgate and were very impressed. The room was pleasant and well appointed but it was the restaurant and David who made this stay so memorable and identified the Frenchgate for a further visit. Prior to dinner, we were settled into the lounge where David plied us with some aperitifs and introduced us both to some truly English Gins and an unusual marmalde vodka (I now have a bottle of each at home...) although not too much to spoil our appetite for dinner. Wow, very, very nice experience which, to be honest, took us a little by surprise. We also opted for the 'Wine Flight' which allowed for a different wine to complement each course each served by David who also provided an informative brief as to why he had selected each wine.....we were not disappointed, a wonderful meal, each plate appointed with the precision of a Michelin starred establishment and wonderful flavours! Exquisite meal, lovely atmosphere and highly recommended!!
Frenchgate Restaurant and Hotel – Richmond4 star food hygiene rating, not to sound snobbish, but not many Asian restaurants have a 3 star, never mind a 4 star. nice, clean surroundings - no carpets and pots everywhere gathering dust.food at leena's is great. prices are fantastic and have not changed since 2007.john, dwayne, lucy loo, you are all right, leena's has great food, fantastic service and a great atmosphere. prices are very friendly on the pocket to.
Leenas – HuddersfieldCustomer service was ok. Food was terrible. Ordered chicken pie which was like mush, a child burger which looked like it had been on the grill all day and the corn on the cob looked like it had been reheated to death. The steak was supposed to be well done was dry and had no taste. Worst pub food we'd ever had.
Meadows Brewers Fayre – BarnsleyI have to agree with some of the reviews above. This place has a lot of potential but I also think the staff let the place down considerably. I have been on many occasions with friends who live nearby and generally I have found the customer service quite poor. Some of the staff are young admittedly but I felt as if they weren't really bothered about my custom, both when they came to the table or when I went to the counter myself. Some of the older female workers didn't even smile or acknowledge me. Maybe this is just my own personal gripe, but as someone who use to work within catering, customer care is absolutely paramount to a pleasurable experience. Putting it simply, I didn't feel welcome! There is an adjoining space full of different things to buy (which is VERY cold - take a jumper!) but every time I go they appear to be having a reshuffle; on one occasion everything was so crammed I couldn't even pass or look at things properly and another time things were so sparse that there really wasn't very much to look at. Recently there just seems to be the same things on sale without much of a turnover. I have had some ok food there but have heard others commenting on how poor they thought the Sunday lunch was (I haven't eaten there on a Sunday as yet myself). If you're passing it's worth a stop but to be honest i wouldn't recommend anyone to make a special journey. Great location and building but I think they need to up their game staff & food wise considerably if they want to stay open.
The Old Canteen – HuddersfieldAbsolutely appalling. Local to us but will never go back. Went on Friday lunchtime 23rd March, as we walked in the first thing you noticed was the tables that had not been cleared, when they eventually were they were not cleaned. The floor was filthy, could not have been from that day only. I then decided a sandwich would be the safest option, this I ordered and my friend ordered a panini. A little later a waitress came with our cutlery and plonked it down on the table and said "sorry we are out of napkins" and walked away. The cutlery was filthy & greasy, fingers prints all over and of course no napkin to wipe them with. The sandwich & panini arrived, the panini order was cheese & onion when it came it was full of lettuce which you can imagine once griddled went black & slimmy. I opened my beef sandwich to put on some horseradish & pulled out a long black hair which obviously didn't belong to either of us. I had previously commented to my friend how most of the staff had long hair, and not one was tied back. We did complain, we couldn't eat any of the food, so we left feeling very disappointed & hungry. What a shame, its a lovely building but they have absolutely no idea how to run a food establishment, and what's more didn't seem to care.
The Old Canteen – HuddersfieldTry the Curry night on Thursdays at the Duke of York. Deal is food and drink for £5.00 home made curry by Maria is fantastic better than the local Indian! and she always has at a bowl at some point during the week on the bar for the locals to try. They also do steak night which again is a deal wine and steak. Sundays lunches are the best your full after your lunch! and not forgetting the good old quiz night after you have had your tea.Home cooked food at its best by Maria service with a smile and home from home. This is a gem of a local pub not to be passed by...
Duke of York – HalifaxThank you to the Duke of Wellington for a fabulous lunch. We had 2 birthdays to celebrate that day and the family friendly atmosphere and superb food were excellent. We will definitely be coming back.
The Duke of Wellington – NorthallertonI live in nearby Horbury and was really pleased to see a Thai restaurant open nearby. I was however, worried that a restaurant nestled in the suburbs of Ossett might not be as good as the Thai restaurants I am used to visiting in Leeds. I was very pleased to find that Malagor uphold fantastic standards and serves beautiful food. Within a month of opening, Malagor grew popular enough with locals to mean you couldn't just turn up and hope for a table, a reservation was vital. As we found to our disappointment when just turning up one Saturday night. I've now eaten at Malagor 3 times and can say it easily matches its more well established competitors in Leeds and has saved me driving 30 miles to get a great Thai!
Malagor Fine Thai Cuisine – WakefieldThank you for the heads up, Davy B!You were spot on about Leena's. I also used to go to Akbars, but not anymore - why fork out for a taxi, when you can just walk down the road and save money?!!!Went on Mother's Day with the wife and kids - when we got there they were holding a Buffet for Mother's Day. Apparently, this was the first buffet that they have ever had - the place was packed. The food was BEAUTIFUL, the service was fantastic. Tell you what Davy B, Thank You!!!

Cafe No.5 – Sowerby BridgeWe found Lockwoods by chance on a visit to Ripon two years ago, but only for tea and cakes. We thought it worth remembering and how right we were.
