Rico’s – RoundhayBought this deal from Groupon and had not had any previous bad experience, but beware this was a con. Firtley nice outside but inside rather like a where you go when drunk at 2am set up. Bad customer service, telling us he hates Groupon vouchers, he makes no money form them, making us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. Then went on to do it to the next table maybe to push drink sales?. Service was very self obsessed saying his food the best curry anywhere, so great expectations for the food. To recieve warm table water, tough chewy lamb, chicken was bits ie not breast), the rice was dried out and the curry taste itself salty. Then on paying the voucher was a £25 food voucher, we had service charge, popadoms and pickles were charged to us they stated this is not food when asked and they did to the other groupon voucher holder.
The Balti King – Leeds City CentreMy work colleagues and I often have national Telecom company meetings in Leeds and we always go to Viva restaurant as the welcome, the food and the service is excellent and after more than 7 visits in past 2 years we have never had any complaints. Great family restaurant and fantastic food and ambiance.
Viva – Leeds City CentreI have been to the Drawbridge numerous times and never had any complaints about the standard of food quality nor service, I find the staff to be friendly and most welcoming, it is one of my favourite places to go for a meal and drink, its not a noisy place and kids are welcome as well
The Drawbridge – RotherhamA great cafe and deli, Fantastic sarnies and jacket spuds, Some great puddings as well. I have also had breakfast there,,,yummy!
Taste – SkiptonI can thoroughly recommend this establishment to anyone. We were travelling on the canal past Bradley and so I looked to see if they did my favourite brew, Theakstones Old Peculier, but the landlord said he had not had it in for five years but promised to get a barrel in for the weekend. And he was as good as his word with me able to sample the first pint of the barrel at lunch time on good Friday. I also had the beer battered haddock with chips and mushy peas and can only say the standard was excellent. If you are in the area and want excellent food, good beer and a friendly reception, the Slater's Arms is a must not miss opportunity.
Slaters Arms – KeighleyHow this place remains open i don't know - fleas yes FLEAS walking and jumping on the tables where we sat; even in the glasses! The glasses were stained. We asked for a complete new set at our table. There were fleas swarming inside the hot food counters. Plates stacked for the buffet were unclean. Do not attempt to use the toilets: totally filthy. Mouldy food under the tables showing the place had not been cleaned properly for days. The only reason we did not leave was that we were attending a wedding ceremony and did not want to spoil the day for the newlyweds. I have made a formal complaint to the council. I even suffered stomach cramps after the meal. Even now i feel sick just thinking about it. i will not go back if they pay me.
Anams Restaurant – BradfordFantastic bar with an extremely vibrant atmosphere, wonderful people and the staff are always very chatty and entertaining. The bar is strictly over 20's and the choice of music is suitably suited to this age range making for an even more pleasant and enjoyable night out.
Legends Bar – BatleyDon't be fooled by the good reviews it's decor is very good but thats where it stops, food try's to be good but really is just average. Service, slow when restaurant full. Starters, good Main's are mostly pizzas with good toppings but let down by poor hard base. Sweet's no fresh cream on Cheese Cake made it very stodgy and gluteney, but the hardest thing to swallow was the price at £90 pound for a family of 4 and thats happy hour prices, its definitely not value for money. Drinks prices for kids are small glass of lemonade £2.00 per glass total rip off and staff so rude when we enquired about the price.
Da Vincis – YarmA visiting lecturer from Bolton, Lancs., was staying with us. We came to Prashad for dinner and introduced him to the unique Indian vegetarian cuisine offered there. We had faluda, papads, bhel supreme, pani puris, utthapam, idli sambar, black-eyed beans, puris, kulfi and masala tea. We described the origin of each dish. Our guest had seen the progress of Prashad in the Gordon Ramsey Restaurant Competition and was delighted that we had taken him to Prashad for dinner. He was absolutely over the moon with the meal. So thank you Prashad. You have now a firm devotee in Bolton!, Lancs.!
Prashad – BradfordIt was our wedding anniversary and so we went for afternoon tea at the Devonshire Arms. It was a little more expensive then other venues at £20 per person but we had heard good things about the restaurant and the location is beautiful. The tea was good and the scone was very nice but we were disappointed with the sandwiches and some of the cakes. The sandwiches were cold and the bread was hard, as if they had just been taken out of the fridge (rather then being prepared fresh). One cake had far too much pastry (about an inch deep), and there was a little jelly and cream desert in a small glass where the liquid and solid had separated. When I told the waitress that I had a peanut allergy she told me how difficult I had been and that I should have told them in advance. We would not recommend the afternoon tea and we would probably now think twice about returning for dinner.
Burlington Restaurant – SkiptonWe were stuck in the Barnsley area on a Friday night with no idea where to go for food. Reviews suggested Romanos would be a good place so we went along - food was excellent, staff friendly, prices reasonable for the quality - BUT it is VERY noisy. there were 3 large birthday parties (which seem to be a regular thing because they treat birthdays so well), and also a VERY VERY LOUD Italian sing-a-long. I've been to many noisy gigs before but this was just painful to the eardrums. We nearly walked out.
Bistro Romanos – BarnsleyLatinos is one of Barnsleys hidden gems. The restaurant, staff and food are all excellent. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone knowing that they will be totally blown away with just how good it is.
Latinos – BarnsleyGreat for business lunches or a romantic meal for two. Situated on the main parade of shops and restaurants in Saltaire. I went for lunch with our PR consultant and we both enjoyed a light lunch.
La Rue Restaurant – ShipleyI booked the Cattlemans as it was recommended by someone who had been there several years ago and had a great meal. By all accounts it used to be a top steak house. We were a party of 6 and we all had a steak. Out of the 6 only 2 had been cooked correctly. I sent my cremated medium well, bone dry steak back and it came back less than 10mins later as a rare steak with blood oozing out all over the plate but again burnt on the outside! This was a £19.00 fillet and they got it wrong twice. Even the two steaks that had been cooked OK were nothing special and 4 of us didn't enjoy our meal. This was on top of the fact the meals took over an hour to come in the first place and the chips were barely warm when they arrived. The final insult came when I paid the bill. I had a 25% discount voucher from Harrogate Vouchers and they wouldn't honour it. They said that the voucher was only for 25% off the food up to 4 people and as we had a table of 6 I couldn't use it! I had to insist they take the service charge off. What a dreadful place. It is obviously living on past glory. There are plenty of other good restaurants in Harrogate including steak houses. Don't waste your money here.
Cattlemens Association – HarrogateBingley's small and friendly wine bar with great food - everything from tapas style bites to larger meals with various offers available midweek. They also do a comedy night - a great little place conveniently situated near the station.
Foundry Hill Bar and Lounge – BradfordWe use the Tempest as one of our favourite venues to run our food safety and HACCP training courses. The food is fantastic (very large portions so be warned). Bedrooms are also very comfortable and reasonably priced - two executive suites with hot tubs! Decor is cosy with plenty of modern, colourful touches. Make sure you book at busy times otherwise you could have a long wait in the bar as it's VERY popular.
The Tempest Arms – SkiptonNot overly impressed. I took my uncle and aunt from the USA to The Bull and we had to pay up front just because we asked to sit outside. Did the five of us (two of whom were in their 60s) look as if we were really going to do a runner? Also there was very little choice on the lunchtime menu and the staff seemed disinterested. Disappointed - had expected so much more from Nigel!
The Bull – Skipton5 dishes for £50 and 2-4-1 cocktails.
