Very tasty food. The chef(s) is clearly very talented. I'm not familiar with Greek cuisine so i found the flavours unique. If you like to try something different, away from the "typical" foods, certainly worth trying. My only criticism is value for money. As a rare or one off experience, I will return to Yayaka. I like my food (I certainly have capacity for it), so if you have an appetite it's likely you will need a starter and a main. I had the scallops which is just under £20 and the excellent lamb just under £25. Lamb was totally worth it. As tasty as the scallops were, they were quite anemic. Instantly cheapend the experience. I went for all three courses for dinner and had 2 beers which came to around £70+. With other great places like Polka and Remoli around the corner, not sure the price would justify frequent visits... maybe for the cocktail ;-)

Just love Matthews - great food, friendly staff, a good ambience and the decor is great. The menu has both fish and veggie options which for us, was great. We cannot recommend Matthews enough - TRY IT!!!

We hadn't been to Matthew's Kitchen for a while but were very happy last Saturday evening with the food & wine. The service has really got a lot better since the last time we went, the waiters were very attentive whilst serviing us. The mixed sea food & Tuna salad were of a high standard, so was the sticky toffey pudding with ice-cream. We shared a nice bottle of white French wine at £29.00 was of good value. We'll be returning to the restaurant very soon. Kevin & Teresa

Special starter prawn & scallop ravioli, and special main grill of prawns, scallop, miso salmon and lots of mussels in tomato, both exceptional.

We are so blessed to have this family-run restaurant on our High Road. The food is consistently brilliant as is the genuinely warm service. Our favourite seafood restaurant in all of London. Look forward to many more meals there in 2025. Thank you!

We went at Matthews Kitchen for Christmas Eve .The food is absolutely fantastic. The service and atmosphere is excellent. The restaurant was buzzy with good vibes. We really enjoyed everything from the cocktails wine the food desserts and we had complimentary drink from Matthew . Thank you very much. We definitely recommend this family restaurant

Finally went there on Friday evening after many times walking past the restaurant. Good vibes in the place and food was as expected. Just didn't have the wow factor we'd hoped for but would certainly recommend.

We booked our work Christmas team night out here for 32 people and when we arrived, we were seated across 3 tables and there were only 20 seats! I spoke to the waitress who confirmed yes 32 people and I had to explain that there wasn't enough seats. They brought out an additional small table for 2 to put on the end of a table and gave us another table for 10 which was away from the group. It then took 45 minutes for drinks to arrive and we had to constantly chase. When the food arrived it was amazing, however the restaurant had clearly overbooked / didn't have enough staff working to cope with the demand of large groups and a fully booked restaurant a week before Christmas. The toilets were blocked and even though I brought this to someone's attention, it was not fixed and the disabled toilet was used as a coat closest so my boss who is disabled, could not use the facility. Furthermore we opted for the Christmas set menu and 2 hours into our booking had to start to leave as we had something we needed to leave to go to. The set menu was something we had to pre book so no food options were taken whilst there on the night. We were told that we couldn't get the bill yet as dessert was coming out so when the bill did arrive, we had to pay and go so not to be late for our event. The next morning I noticed we had been charged £70 extra for dessert that we did not order or actually want as it was not included in the set menu and it was not something I had pre ordered. Due to the mess up and delays we had we assumed it was a gesture of goodwill, however it wasn't. Overall the food was good and I would return along as I just needed a table for 2!

I had to come on here and leave a review for this spectacular restaurant based in Whetstone! I chose this restaurant because my partner is an avid seafood fan and until I visited Matthew’s kitchen I would’ve said that seafood would be my least favourite cuisine choice. From the moment I arrived into the restaurant I was greeted by the friendly staff and I really felt comfortable and at home. The waiter was very attentive and explained all of the specials on the menu board and made sure we had all the information we needed before looking at the menus. We ordered porn star martinis to start which were made to a mixologist in a five star hotel standard. For the starters I had salmon and tuna tartere, which is the best I’ve ever had. For the mains, I tried the seafood bouillabaisse something which I’ve never had before. Wow what can I say? It was at a spectacular level and I nearly licked the ball Clean everything was 10 out of 10 and I would definitely recommend seafood lovers as well as people within the local area to come to Matthew’s kitchen. I will definitely now be a regular customer and it was also very reasonably priced with a luxurious feel and atmosphere. Well done Matthew’s kitchen!

Had a good evening with friends - great pizza & good atmosphere

We had a lovely meal in a great atmosphere. The fish dishes were delicious and we had great service. Would highly recommend
