El Tombro

Went here a few months back and was severely disappointed. I ordered pizza and my then girlfriend ordered a pasta dish, gnocci I think. My pizza was no different to what you can get in the supermarket. My girlfriend also said the gnocchi wasn't great and so we left a little disappointed. I suppose a really noisy hen party group being there didn't help, nor the annoyingly wobbly table but, all the same, the food should have been much better. Walked out feeling slightly ripped off.

I’d heard many good reviews about San Carlo on King Street West, and so when celebrating my promotion at work, I thought we should try out the infamous San Carlo. It was full of gorgeous people - the guests, the waiters, and the management. The food was just divine too. We tried a couple of dishes off the sea food menu and was overly impressed by the quality, and quantity of the dishes that arrived. The fish seemed to be quite a popular choice with other diners too, as we only heard positive remarks throughout the evening. A highly enjoyable night, and a very suitable place to celebrate something special.

Went to Via during Pride. Meal was excellent although a tad pricey.

A Tokyo Season is a shame to the vibrant restaurant in Manchester. My friends and I, i.e. a group of 5, visited the restaurant on a Saturday night. When asked about what drinks to order upon arrival, we simply said we needed a little time to settle down first. The waitress seemed disgusted by our request to delay our drinks order. After a while, we made our order for food and drink. (Mind you, they charge green tea by the cup, so no free refill unlike other Japanese restaurants) It took over 30 minutes for the food to arrive. To our disappointment, the portions were small and the quality of the food was not good. The deep fried pork fillet I had was all soggy. The food my friends ordered were not up to standard as well. To make matters worse, the manager and the waitress started removing our chopsticks even though there was still a few pieces of sashimi left on the table (we were sharing among us). I told the manager that I wanted to keep my pair of chopsticks while he was taking them away, and he asked me in a rather rude tone why. I had to point out that there were still food left to be eaten before he unwillingly returned my cutlery. In all, we were rushed for no reason, as, including us, there were only 2 tables occupied that evening. Unless you want a frustrated night out, I would not recommend this restaurant to you.

Went for my birthday with my girlfriend and friends who came down from London.Have always enjoyed turkish cuisine especially after my holiday to Alanya.Very disappointing meal. Staff took a long time to sort a table out.To be honest the waitress ignored us for 20 minutes even though several tables were empty. Food was below average.Plates and cutlery were dirty and my friend had to ask for his cutlery to be replaced.Wont be going back.

myself,my partner, friend and my 3 year old boy dined here on a busy Saturday afternoon. the service was quick, very polite waiters as soon as we seated my boy was entertained by the colouring crayons already on the table (to which i thought this was excellent). We all ate of the lunch express menu which was6.95 for two items. I had the vietnamese? dishes and they were fantastic ,my boys meal was OK but he isn't really used to eating fried veg.

I have dined in Gaucho Grillo n several occasions and I have to say it's always hit and miss. My partner and I went on Saturday night and after our experience, shall not be returning any time soon. Having already made the decision to book a later table (whenever we have eaten between the times of 7.45 and 9.15 it's been awful) we were annoyed to have to wait nearly an hour longer to be sat (no apology was given - I believe that the mismanagement of the reception resulted in them having forgotten us) When we eventually sat the service was 'ok'. The wine recommendation did not come naturally, however the one we eventually chose was delicious (not topped up once by our waiter however). The starter of Carpaccio was absolutely delicious, the steak we had for main were awful! Tough and flavourless, I found it hard to believe they had been marinaded for 24hrs! Needless to say that after this, we did not feel in the mood for dessert nor coffee. We asked for the bill and got charged £115 for the experience!! I have to say I am upset as when you have a good experience in Gaucho, you have a bloody good time and don't mind paying at all! Unfortunately though, we shan't be returning!

Last night I dined alone at the Manchester Branch of this Argentinean steak house. After being seated and having to wait over 10 minutes for the sommelier to arrive, stinking of cigarettes, I sat back and waited for my meal to arrive. As a lover of meat, I had a waitress trying to tell me I should have my steak cooked on the side of well done. My over salted fillet arrived with a limp salad, soggy and tasteless chips and an overpowering sauce. With the manageress was unable to offer any type of service recovery, and I left £106 lighter and with half my meal still on the table. If you truly love your meat, think again. Go somewhere else!

My wife and I went to try the Beijing Taster menu. It was a brilliant dining experience as we learnt about the regional food and the pairing of the wines. Each course was delicious and the service was outstanding. I will be returning with more friends and also booking for Christmas at Sweet Mandarin. Thank you for a wonderful night out.

Whether it's business or pleasure then you are not going to be disappointed here. The food and service are excellent. There is a wide range of dishes available and occasional special to try too. Wine list, again, plentiful. Good value for money and nice atmosphere. See you again soon!

Very little to say about this place at least in a positive sense anyway other than the interior of the restaurant is very appealing to the eye and is clean and tidy. The food however is a disaster. The only half decent part were our side dishes. They were tasty enough but were far from inspiring. My main course was extremely poor and judging by appearances and the lack of any comment so were the dishes of my companions. I'd avoid.

Overrated. There are better places to eat in the city centre.

This is our joint favourite Chinese restaurant in Manchester by far! Its the sort of place you go when you're in the know rather than a run of the mill Chinese. Prices are average for an in town restaurant but worth every penny....the food is exceptional. Try the traditional clay oven roasted pork Cantonese style....a mouthful to order but a taste sensation that typifies the quality of the food. Service is very good...attentive yet not overpowering. The decor (recently updated) is excellent and adds to the quality feel of the restaurant. Go early or book as its always full (a good sign). Excellent City Centre choice.

Big Name big expectations, average experience. Well on a wet Sunday afternoon at 6.15pm nipped in to the Gaucho, the place had around 20-25 diners, seemed understaffed as the service was dreadfully slow. Saw the service pick up after observing the team brief at 7pm. Soft shell Crab 4 pieces, £17, was ok, like a light tempura batter with the 1/2 lemon and alioli, was not greasy, nothing much to shout about. The waiter mixed up the order for the seafood platter, we ordered the main course but arrived the starter cold portion; we did not say anything as we were in a hurry! Rib Eye was cooked to perfection, and was a good quality matured steak. The waiter forgot the salad to go with this. however the mangeress on duty was I think the star of the show, alert and hovering the tables talking to all tables and guests. She took immediate action to organise the salad. Bill £74, for bottle of still, 500ml of rose (served in a cheap water jug.............come on Gaucho find a better carafe!!)and 2 starters and 1 main course. Yes the place is visually stunning, chairs and most of the restaurant seemed to be covered with a sort of black and white cow patches, did not dare to as if this was from the real cow! Great bar and seating area around it. Sloppy service at these prices is not expected. the place when we left at 7.40 had in total around 35-40 diners, around 1/3 full, Dread to see what the service is like when they are packed to capacity.

This place is brilliant - 4th time here, very clean and efficient service - no rush to finish quickly, variety of starters and main courses to suit to everyone. Chicken and Fish dishes out of this world!! Thank you for a great meal - recommend to anyone.
