Went to San Carlo mid week for my hubby's birthday. When we arrived the place was half full and already had a great atmosphere. By the time we left it was full to capcity. A really good sign mid week. Loved the food and enjoyed a large platter of shellfish to share. The only downside was our table. We were sat next to the waiter's station and were constantly interrupted by waiters leaning over us picking up peper mills and parmesan cheese etc. This did get quite annoying until the place got so busy that nothing was ever returned back to the station! Therefore I would make a point of not being seated near this area again, but apart from that a great place!

Sorry to disagree with popular opinion. Having read its rave reviews we pitched up at the New Emperor on Sunday last and the whole experience was pretty depressing. One starter forgotten. Crispy duck was dry and had poor texture, king prawns in satay sauce had no flavour or seasoning, the brown gloopy sauce barely distinguishable from the fillet of slimy beef in ginger and black beans. Bland, bland, bland! Ordered a decent premier cru Chablis that was served too warm from cheap, horrible glasses. The request for an ice bucket for the sparkling mineral water that came at room temperature resulted in a wine cooler full of ice with the bottle sat on top. Clueless. Then the bill has 10% added automatically and the staff push you to add a tip when they bring over the credit card machine. It wasn't overly busy, but FOUR other tables complained about slow service or dishes that had been ordered but forgotten. The decor is tired. Don't often eat Chinese in town and if this really is one of the best, I'll stick to that policy.

wow This is one of Manchester's best restaurants. Really authentic and top quality thai food. Soooooooo reasonably priced 10 out of ten. It's hidden away on an upper floor in Manchester's china town. It's a real gem why isn't there more hype about it.

I have been going to Happy Seasons for longer than I care to remember. Moved away and forgot about it. Then five years ago went back for meal with my now partner who is Chinese. So maybe it can be romantic!!! Anyway I always thought it was good and he thinks it is the best value in China Town. Try taking somebody who can read Chinese, the Chinese menu has some great dishes not on the English menu.

recommend this place you must be mad. It's chav and vile. Would'nt be caught dead in there a second time. A girl could get a bad name being seen in there. I'm just insulted the door staff let me in they clearly mistook me for an coke fan that would welcome the advances sleezey men for whom a song comes mind. The great prentender. The food was ok. A lot of a certain type of person in here and it's not footballers and celebs.

I have visited Sweet Mandarin many times and the food is delicious and the service friendly and efficient. I brought some friends from London to the restaurant and had a brilliant time. I've just bought their book too and can't wait to read it. If you've not tried Sweet Mandarin you must! Also northern quarter is a great spot now - buzzing and cool.

Absolutely superb food, the entire meal was delicious but the amuse bouche of a mini bakewell tart was to die for. I can't stop thinking about it neither can my dining partner. The atmosphere was fabulous, the staff were equally fabulous. The view of Exchange Square made it all the more spectacular. I will definitely dine here again and recommend it to my friends.

My boyfriend and I ate here yesterday, and having arrived at 6.15pm we were too late for the tapas offer of 3 for £10. We ordered around 8 dishes altogether including bread, a beer, and glass of wine (which was fantastic), and our bill was £57. Pricey, but well worth it. You will pay 25-30% more than in La Tasca, but it is worth every penny. Fab food, nice service, great experience.

We were recommended Sweet Mandarin by many work colleagues and decided to go try the restaurant. I decided to try their new cocktail Mandarin Jazz and i wasn't disappointed. The food was tasty and plentiful. I certainly was impressed with the service and food. I will be recommending Sweet Mandarin to many more work colleagues.

I was there last night with my fiance and we had a lovely time , the staff were very professional and the food was FANTASTIC. I had a chicken and pinenut pasta for my starter which was a bit rich but neither the less lovely . I would highly recommend the florentina pizza and the peppered fillet steak both of which are a good choice . We finished our meal with lemoncello which was served ice cold and very refreshing. I would urge anyone to try this great city centre restaurant .

Fantastic restaurant! Food is really yummy with some really authentic Malay dishes that I haven't seen in other Malay restaurants in the UK. There are always specials along with the main menu. Loads of options for veggies and all reasonably priced compared to elsewhere in the city. Restaurant also has full disabled access. Service is great, friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Nice touches such as the waiting staff ask if you're ready for your next course. The owners are usually around and always take the time to talk to you/ask if you've enjoyed your meal. Decor is beautiful and modern but not pretentious. This restaurant is great for any event, whether it be a romantic meal for 2 or a group night out. It's the only restaurant in Manchester that has ever inspired me to write a review!

We used to go to Happy Season. But since we discover Fus Chinese Restaurant, we never look back. The innovative interior design is a refreshing change to your typical Chinatown restaurant. Bright and airy with relax atmosphere. I would recommend the Fus Chinese Restaurant in china town any day. Me and my girlfriend go there about 3 times a month, the Chinese style roast duck and char sui are the best in Chinatown, try it and see. The price is excellent. Very friendly staff. Good service. Excellent quality of food. Definitely would recommend friends for a sooner visit! Thanks

Whenever we're in Manchester, we always head to San Carlos, as the food is great, the service is fast, the restaurant is clean and beautifully decorated and the prices are very reasonable. Great restaurant in a central location!

This restaurant is fabulous! The waiters could not do enough for you and the restaurant itself has a nice relaxed ambience. The best portebello mushrooms I have tasted, we thought the steak was a little overcooked for our taste, but when we mentioned this to the waitress the manager came straight over and offered to replace them. All in all we were very impressed and will definitely be going again.

The food was excellent, as was the service. All of my friends agreed that Ning was top notch and I'm sure many of us will return in the future.

The burgers are gorgeous but on the pricey side at £7+ for most burgers. I've only ever had the blue cheese burger when I've been to GBK and it's delicious. My husband had the pestarella which was okay but not as good as the blue cheese. I guess my only real gripe about the place is that the fries are £2.65. For a small portion of obviously frozen, pre-processed chips that you could get in any fast food place it's extortionate and lets the meal down. They'd be better off doing real chips or potato wedges. For 2 burgers, 2 portions of fries and 2 cokes the bill came to £26 which isn't particularly good value in relation to the quality of what's on offer.
