The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeUnfortunately not as good as our springtime visit. The main man behind the bar was missing, don't know whether he's left, but he was an extremely good host. I'd ordered the ham Sunday roast but the meat was dry. I was given another piece when I complained which was tender and tasty. We tried to order desserts by attracting the staff but the menu wasn't forthcoming. A gentleman from another table also asked on our behalf. Eventually we ordered and the steam pudding and custard was good. I'd recommended the place last time to friends but I probably won't this time.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeHad a scrummy meal on Saturday. There were 5 of us in the party and we all had something different. I had the Venison , it was so tender. Fab service, lovely wine and delicious food. Definitely go back again.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeVery disappointing experience indeed. The dinner was of poor quality. I chose the haggis and was served with a small mound of mashed vegetables topped with some greasy and tasteless minced beef. There were no fresh vegetables to accompany this offering which cost nearly £14. My partner had the fish and chips and was not impressed. The dessert was Affogato which is difficult to ruin but, again, was a miniscule portion, the espresso was only lukewarm and this cost over £6. The staff were friendly and the service was good but, because of the poor quality of the food, we won't be returning.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeFish & Chips excellent Sticky Toffee Pud excellent Roast Beef mains average Great attentive staff & not expensive Generslly a very pleasant experience
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeStayed on the Sunday Special, good value at £109 for dinner bed and breakfast. Quaint village in the countryside despite being minutes from a busy road. Very dog friendly.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeFriendly and attentive staff Food was tasty and well presented at dinner Breakfast was very good, porridge and granola large portions and good quality Poached eggs and haddock was good You can always pick holes in any F&B experience but the Wheatsheaf for a small pub in a rural area where staff are not plentiful was very good
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeWe were staying at the hotel so booked dinner as well. The restaurant was really busy for mid-week - a very good sign. Not a lot of choice so I chose steak and pepper pie which was brilliant with loads of separate gravy - and this from someone who NEVER eats pies nor gravy. My husband's gammon and eggs was not as good as some he's had but ok. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was not as good. Tea was cold, toast a bit hard, cooked breakfasts took a long time arriving, sausage with the full English was a cheap and unpleasant one, not up to the standard of a not-cheap hotel.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeGreat staff very helpful, food was good and breakfast was excellent

The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeGreat meal. Best roast beef we have had in a long time. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeLovely Sunday lunch with the little one and my parents. Service was quick despite being busy. Food enjoyed by all and colouring thoroughly enjoyed by little one. Only complaint was that smokers smoke right outside the door, which is open, bringing smoke into the eating area.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeWhat a fantastic meal, great choice on the menu and the service was brilliant would definitely go back again
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeThe atmosphere on a Friday is great and a lot of new faces who are all helpful and welcoming and that just adds to the delicious food. The cobb salad is gorgeous with avocado, eggs, pecans, chicken breast and bacon plus the expected salad leaves but this is more protein than salad so no skimping here and ordered garlic bread without cheese which is my first choice now for the best garlic bread and I love my garlic bread. My friend’s son wanted something plain and this was arranged with no problems and averted a meltdown. We did have to ask for the dessert menu twice but to be fair it was crazy busy. Definitely book in advance if possible.
