Food was tasty and well presented and the staff were all friendly. Unfortunately the restaurant itself is very tired, the lighting was far too bright and we had to sit with our coats on as it was so cold. It felt like a cheap greasy spoon cafe. Sorry but won’t be back.

We booked at Red Mezze to eat before attending an event nearby. We received a warm welcome on arrival, the food was excellent, and the service was efficient and helpful. This restaurant has a lively atmosphere and provides very good value for money. I would recommend

Faultless - staff were extremely helpful, originally booked for 10 but ended up with 12 the staff had no problem adding 22 more to our booking. We were given time to read the menu, no pressure from the team who took the order when we were ready. Starters arrived promptly (and were delicious as always), mains were also fantastic. Cant recommend this place highly enough - outstanding, well done guys!

We (a party of 5) regularly visit restaurants in the area (Tyne and Wear) taking turns to choose the location. It was mine this time and wanted to try something a little bit different other than pizza, curry or Chinese. I came across Kafeneon (Greek) and looked at Tripadvisor. Was pleased with the reviews it had received so booked through their website - which was very easy. Staff were attentive and courteous and didn't mind waiting whilst a member of our party was late - having gone to a different place. As for the food, there was an early evening menu which one or two chose from. Each member had chosen a different meal, one having a starter which he enjoyed, the rest of us ordered from the main menu, including Moussaka, Lamb Kofta Pita, Beef Stifado and Big Fat Greek Gyros (mine). Everyone enjoyed their meal. There was so much on mine I gave some to one of the party. Prices for the meals ranged from £11.95 to £16.95. Excellent value for money and would definitely recommend a vist.

Fantastic food and service. Super friendly atmosphere. Would highly recommend. We had the early bird menu which was great value. The dips were great, the grilled feta was incredible and our gyros and souvlaki were delicious.

Food was fantastic! We went in a large group of 19 and were on two big tables next to each other. Service on the day was good. The pre-booking communication was very good, made it a lot easier to organise the event. Looking forward to going back again.

Had a lovely meal here on Friday with my partner. From going in to coming out staff kept checking back to see if everything was okay. We didn't wait very long for food and it was delicious. This place had been recommended to us so thought we would check it out, we will be back

Brilliant food and value for money . All home cooked no Heated chilled food. A fabulous venue to meet and eat with friends. Great service. Keep up the high standards All our family and friends love the place

Once again, we enjoyed excellent food here two nights ago on a short trip to Newcastle. It's the best Greek food ever, in my opinion. The two us always have the meze platter, which is obviously cooked with outstanding, high quality ingredients. The portions are very very generous and every mouthful is a dream. PLEASE KEEP THIS DISH ON YOUR MENU as I don't think I could cope if it disappeared! There's also a lovely atmosphere and the staff are attentive and very very pleasant; they can't do enough for you. The refurbishment is also fantastic and I simply can't wait to come back to Newcastle from North Wales, so that we can eat here again. Eating at Kafeneon is always the highlight of our fairly frequent trips to this wonderful city. Outstanding!! Would definitely recommend to everyone.

Had a work team lunch Service was great - everything flowed smoothly Submitted the pre order and food was on table within 5 minutes of our arrival. Food delicious and no complaints from the team :)! Definitely recommend.
