All four of us enjoyed our meal. Good food, good service and pleasant, attentive staff

Booked online about 4 hours before we needed the table. Booking was very easy. We arrived some 40 minutes before our table was booked for. This was no problem to the staff. Ordered drinks at the bar and within a few minutes we were shown to our table. No issue with changing the tab I’d opened from one table to another. They were busy if not full at 19.30 on a Friday night, our food came within a few minutes of ordering. Our meals were really good and well presented. We found it better value than other places in the area. This is only the second time we have been here in 6 years, as previously it was well out of our area, but now we are looking at making it a monthly visit.

It's been a while since we visited but found the charm of the pub has not been lost. Professional pleasant staff and excellent food well presented and perfectly cooked.

Table for 5, we all enjoyed our meals, and good service. Been here many times, we'll definitely be going again soon.

This is pretty much the only pub I'll go in around the local area and theres a few reasons why. For a drink, the small bar area is cozy with seating and enough atmosphere from the locals to make a happy night and during the winter, the real fire makes a great addition for warmth. For a meal - the food is consistently good quality at a fair price. There's so many other pubs that charge way more but deliver far less. The staff and team are always friendly and are trying their best however busy the restaurant is. I've never had a problem and if there has been a mistake, its been sorted without question and the shortfall recovered beyond any other pub within 20 miles. The menu is small enough to trust but big enough to have a good choice. My personal favourite is the Sunday Roast selection - I don't want to big this up as I'd prefer to keep it just for me. Good quality meats, huge yorkies and a great selection of veggies with a rich gravy make it my first choice of restaurant roast lunches. As a second choice, its rare to find a chef that can cook liver properly and its great to see it remain as a favourite on the menus! The music is always spot on, both in volume and styles - I've never not been able to have a conversation or found it too loud in any part of the building. For me, its the perfect country pub to kick back, relax and let the pace of life drop away for a few hours.

We managed to get my Mum out for lunch (first time outside the house for 4 months). Staff were lovely and welcoming...had our favourite table. All the meals were delicious...haddock and chips, cheese pie and veg and a mixed grill ...hot tasty and generous portions! No room for pudding - but we appreciated a special day out. Thanks to all.

Lovely service, arrived 10 minutes late which is very annoying for the pub but customer service great. Was chippy Tuesday apparently so very busy but no impact on service. Food was tasty and plentiful and some great choices! Did smaller portions which is amazing (and meant I could fit 2 courses in) thank you, all 4 of us were very happy and will definitely be back.

This was our second visit. Very disappointed to find there was a set menu - not mentioned at booking. Main course selection was very limited. Prices were much higher than those on the normal menu - felt like a rip off. Wine selection had no Australian offerings which was disappointing. Will not be back soon - if ever.

Very busy last Thursday but no excuse for poor service. Arrived at 13.00 and ordered our main meals (gammon steak) at 13.15 did not arrived until 13.45 despite a couple of reminders. Unfortunately despite booking got the table nearest the door and in a freezing draught. Worse still elderly 2 men on a table virtually touching ours coughing away to the point when we both felt really annoyed .

The food and the staff are excellent, but I have been twice within a few days ans on both occassions requesrted a quiet table. on both occassions we were seated very close to speakers playing music that we all agreed was far to loud. on the first occassion we were told that we were in the bar as we had requested a quieter area, but the corner of our table was situated directly beneath a speaker.

After completing one of The Plough’s circular walks with our dog, we returned to the bar side to have a great meal and good beer. A warm and friendly welcome.

Back within a week to share lunch with two friends. We all ate a different main and each one was delicious and plentiful. They were most impressed and will be back again soon. Thanks so much

We have often called in during the week, but this was our first Sunday dinner at the Plough. It was excellent. We got a friendly welcome and prompt service. I had a roast beef dinner and husband had turkey. The meals were hot, very tasty and huge! Eight different vegetables including the biggest roasties ever! Thanks to all - we both fell asleep when we got home!

Four of us had a lunch at The Plough. Nice place, but has music on constantly which is always a minus for us. Food and service were good and good value.
