The Blowing Stone Inn – WantageWhat a lovely place this is! We were holding an special family event and the whole team at the pub were absolutely brilliant. A great venue in a beautiful location. Food was fantastic with great service. Thankyou so much to the manager in particular for looking after us so well! I would definitely recommend this venue to others.
The Blowing Stone Inn – WantageWe had the 'Monty's Sharing Platter' which was 3 different burgers - a chicken, a classic cheeseburger and a portobello mushroom. We elected for sourdough buns and upgraded chips to parmesan and truffle. There was plenty of food for 2 adults and it was all very tasty. This platter was cheaper than ordering 2 burgers so a great deal. Drinks are a bit limited and quite expensive, while the food was quite good value. Live music on a Thursday night, at a volume that is background so a nice atmosphere.
Montys Burger Bar – BicesterWe came to the Blowing Stone for our Easter Sunday lunch yesterday and have woken up today still thinking about the food. Wonderful roasts and my partner had the sea bass which looked amazing too. Huge portion sizes, friendly service and a beautiful pub with a wonderful atmosphere. Plus, the whole place was very clean!
The Blowing Stone Inn – WantageA relaxing Saturday evening was had at the blowing stone. The food has greatly improved.I especially enjoyed the home made pie.
The Blowing Stone Inn – WantageI took my elderly Mum for Mother's Day. The on line booking system is very easy and I received emails confirming the booking. We were greeted at the door and taken to our table which is a slow progress due to Mum's mobility but there was no rush and I was offered help with Mum if I needed it. There was a bit of a wait for our food but the atmosphere is so relaxed and unrushed, it isn't a problem. We weren't interrupted on numerous occasions to ask if everything was OK but the staff were there on hand and happy to help when needed. Nothing was too much trouble from the time we walked through the door to the time we left. The food is amazing and cooked to order and is freshly cooked. The portions are generous - I couldn't eat all of mine and it was boxed up for me to bring home. I would highly recommend The Blowing Stone and already planning to return.
The Blowing Stone Inn – WantageWent for Sunday Lunch. Both of us had roast beef, which was cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. Pigs in Blankets were extra but a good size and made with tasty sausages. We both had crumble and my only gripe would be that we both felt we needed more custard with it
The Blowing Stone Inn – WantageGreat pub, Spectacular food, Comfortable and stylish rooms, Beautiful area, Staff couldn’t be any more attentive, 10/10 will definitely be going back! Stayed here when previous owners had the place and these guys have saved it! The whole place just makes you feel warm and welcome. The rooms are decorated beautifully with all the bits and bobs you need away from home but always forget to pack, the food was just delicious and left us as full as we could be, chefs home made sticky toffee is to die for. We took it up to our room and enjoyed it watching a film in bed with a glass of their home made mulled wine too. All round perfect place and we will be back!
The Blowing Stone Inn – WantageGreat goats cheese tarts to start, also the presentation of the pie was spectacular! Makes a nice change rather than standard thick pastry. The show stopper was the sticky toffee pudding though, my only regret was the portion was too much for me to finish.
The Blowing Stone Inn – WantagePopped in last week whilst travelling to visit family before Christmas. Oh my! What a find, ordered the slow cooked pork pie and it literally melted in my mouth! My husband had the halibut and cleaned the plate. Desert we shared the home made cheese cake and it was gorgeous, cute little bar with a good choice of local ale. Will definitely be coming back again next year. Well done chef !!
The Blowing Stone Inn – WantageStayed in the b&b for 2 nights so ate in the restaurant for breakfast and can honestly say it’s value for money is impeccable! Such a good selection of all types of breakfast.. For lunch we tried the curried cauliflower and coconut soup. Was hesitant with the description but never judge a book by its cover. Absolutely beautiful, just what we needed on a cold day like today. We shared a rotisserie chicken for dinner before leaving to go out for the night and again absolutely perfect. Crispy skin and tasty onion rings with home made slaw. Already booked a room for next year and looking forward to seeing the team again. Amazing staff, can’t do enough for you!
The Blowing Stone Inn – WantageSuper pub, really great team, I enquired about dairy free options ahead of booking and was told they would make something especially for us. The chef kindly made dairy free profiteroles which was amazing. Most places offer sorbet as the dairy free option, but sorbet isn’t always dairy free!
The Blowing Stone Inn – WantagePrawn cocktail was excellent The Pie of the Day which was said to be pork was the most disgusting thing I have ever been served in a restaurant. Another member of the party agreed. Potato was dried potato and just a huge lump of mash, and the carrots and beans were cold. No sauce with the pie, Good coffee in cold cups. Sorry, we were looking forward to supporting a new venue. The conservatory was very nice and raised our hopes on arrival.
The Blowing Stone Inn – WantageOnce again, excellent food and friendly, welcoming and accommodating service. The Blowing Stone is perfectly placed for walking on the Ridgeway and we plan on going back again on the next training walk for our February charity challenge.
The Blowing Stone Inn – WantageWe stayed one night in a very well-appointed and comfortable room. The food in the restaurant was excellent, and the service was friendly and welcoming. Location is great for walking on the Downs. Highly recommended.
The Blowing Stone Inn – WantageHad a lovely meal. Have never seen a pie presented so nicely. The beef just melted in the mouth. Very cosy pub. The service was good. Would recommend and will definitely return.
