1863 – PenrithGreat and handy place to stay in Penrith. The best thing about it is the excellent Italian food!
Villa Bianca – PenrithI've not had a Sunday roast for ages and never usually go for pork if I do. So it was a real treat to have one at The Greyhound in Shap. Very tasty and filling after our hike up Harter Fell. The place has had a refurb and looks great. Rustic but contemporary. Beer was good too!
Greyhound Hotel – PenrithSuperb family run restaurant/pub, there italian dishes are out of this world. Please try this place, you wont be dissapointed. Steaks are 10/10. Great local atmoshere, reasonable prices for quality of food, good varied choices on menu, cant wait to go back,
Crown Inn – PenrithDropped in here for the first time after a walk from Aira Force around Gowbarrow Fell (incidentally the most stunning views along the length of Ullswater). For somewhere so out of the way, The Royal had an extensive and interesting menu as well as cask marque ales and accommodation.
Royal Hotel – Penrithlovely little cafe in a very quaint spot!
The Eden Gallery Tea Rooms – PenrithDropped in here after a windblown walk on the fells above nearby Patterdale. It’s got the feel of a lodge in the Canadian Rockies with a huge panorama window making the most of the view and a barn-type interior. Only had a couple of drinks and sandwiches but the service was friendly and the food good. I think they have bedrooms here too and a campsite close by.
Brotherswater Inn @ Sykeside Camping Park – PenrithMy friend and I had a lovely lunch here on the way back from Scotland. We were very impressed with the food and ambience. Recommended
Greyhound Hotel – PenrithWe have just had a beautiful Sunday roast. Starters were full of flavour and well sized portions. Children’s menu again boasts a well sized portion, excellent quality and value for money. Much nicer than some of your “branded” pubs serving food. Excellent value and quality food! Thankyou for the lovely welcoming atmosphere! Beautifully decorated pub full of character and history
Crown Inn – PenrithBooked in here tonight for a table of 7 people . The table was reserved but no cutlery ,condiments etc in place . We asked to set up a tab as we knew we would be having a few drinks ,food etc but were told that we had to pay as we ordered . After one drink they ran out of ice , the meal came after a lengthy wait ( only two other tables occupied ) the adults scampi of which we had ordered two of varied from 6 pieces of scampi to 9 pieces whereas the child’s scampi at1/2 the price had 5 pieces on it !!!!!! We had to ask for cutlery, salt, pepper and sauces . There were no beer mats, no glasses cleared despite the table being full , they then asked if we wanted puddings before they had cleared away plates . Definitely a real let down and will not be returning again
The Squirrel Inn – PenrithGorgeous old pub with stunning views over to Blencathra and the fells beyond. My lunch was lovely and portions huge. its near Penrith and on the way to Keswick and very near the M6 motorway so in a great spot!
The Clickham Inn – PenrithLovely tasty filling lunch in front of the fire at the Brackenrigg Inn. Posh homemade (including the bread) fish finger sandwich with a side salad and chips. Great views out over Ullswater and the snow peaked mountains behind. Will stay next time and try the beers from their own brewery!
Brackenrigg Inn – PenrithReal Olde Pub it's walls oozing with history and folk lore. The food is out of this world yet reasonably priced and it's menu as refreshingly different and varied as I have ever seen in a Pub. Booked again for this sunday evening can't wait!
Crown Inn – PenrithJust tried to book for a meal. Says dogs allowed on website, but they are not allowed while food is being served. So we did not book.
Crown Inn – PenrithArrived shortly before closing but received a very warm welcome and were shown to our table. Very prompt and attentive service. Excellent food, great value for money. Staff were very courteous and we weren't rushed even though it was getting late.Would visit again if staying in Penrith.
Raj Exsuisite Cuisine – PenrithXmas dinner bland could of been eating anything.
The Fox Inn – PenrithExcellent food, far better than "normal pub grub"! Lovely atmosphere, very friendly staff. Good range of choices and very reasonably priced.
Cross Keys Inn – PenrithGreat pub in a great location on the riverside at Pooley Bridge Penrith. The Crown In has one of the best beer gardens I have sat in on a lovely summers day with the kids playing in the water. Enjoyed the local Ullswater ale too.
The Crown Inn – Pooley BridgeSunday Lunch: Main course, £16.95; 2 courses, £22.95; 3 courses, £26.95.
