The Plough At Eaves – PrestonI’ve waited a while to post this review. This was the first time we’ve “eaten out” on Christmas Day. No other pub to compare against. I understand (from reading Facebook reviews) that the pub were let down by staff on the 25th, leaving them exceptionally under-staffed. It may have been a good idea to tell clients up front. The staff that were working were rushed off their feet, continually apologising for “the wait”. Our table seemed to fare quite well all things considered so I’m not going to be too harsh. Feedback for my meal: My starter of melon came with a vinaigrette dressing which, putting it bluntly, was horrible. I scraped off as much as possible. The beef Wellington was miniscule. The sherry trifle was weird - no sherry flavour, in fact mostly custard (tasted like Ambrosia) on top of what tasted like crushed meringue. By now, we were on the verge of going home anyway, so I was certainly not about to complain over that. Other tables around us were having a dreadful time and their reviews can be seen on Tripadvisor or Facebook (and also on here). I felt sorry for the front of house team - lord knows what the kitchen was like in the chaos. We usually go for Sunday lunch which has always been good so we will venture to the Plough again, but it was not their finest hour on Christmas Day. Well done to the staff who did turn up, they tried their best but were simply overwhelmed!
The Plough At Eaves – PrestonAlways enjoyable breakfast , brunch , tapas . Must try the afternoon tea !
Bread and Butter – PrestonBeautiful food, well cooked, well presented and good service. Nice brunch choices. Not the cheapest but the quality is good so it doesn’t feel overpriced.
Bread and Butter – PrestonThe amount of waiting times between courses was ridiculous my turkey dinner was only look warm unfortunately I like my food piping hot,I think the pub itself should have closed to the general public after a couple of hours like other pubs do which gives the staff serving Xmas dinner's more time far too many customers and not enough staff poorly organised. You should not have to ask for your food or clear dirty plates yourself.
The Plough At Eaves – PrestonRegular visitors to Bread and Butter and have always enjoyed brunch, tapas and Sunday Lunch! On the occasion it was for a festive afternoon tea. Excellent food, great service and good value! Looking forward to our next visit.
Bread and Butter – PrestonLovely food and great service. Never had a bad meal here and it has a lovely atmosphere.
Bread and Butter – PrestonFood was good, table service was warm, friendly and prompt. Issue on arrival with the reservation, explained to the manager but felt this wasn’t really listened to. Was required to show a screenshot of booking before being shown to our table. Was then told that there were plenty of tables and that it wouldn’t be a problem. Feel that too much was made of this despite it being a mistake by the staff/booking system. Not an enjoyable start to the experience.
Maxy Farm Pantry & Restaurant – PrestonLovely food and service as always but felt a bit rushed as only allowed the table at lunch time for an hour and 15 mins which is a bit short for a Christmas get together. This wasn’t mentioned when I booked.
Bread and Butter – PrestonMet family here for brunch. Couldn’t fault a thing. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly and the food was fab. Will definitely be calling again
Bread and Butter – PrestonWe regularly visit here and the service-atmosphere and food is always great. So much so that my friend and I booked for 16 Dec over a month or more ago, knowing it would get busy because of the time of year. I had no communication prior to this, so was rather surprised to be told on being seated that the table had to be vacated by 1.15pm ( we booked for 12pm) not a lot of time when you want a catch up with a friend, but we reluctantly agreed. The waitress was exceptionally busy so didn't take our order until 12.30pm and reiterated again that the table was only till 1.15pm.I intended to order a meal but was feeling pressurised/rushed so just ordered soup and a sandwich instead. We were then told again that we had to vacate at 1.15pm on bringing our drinks and again when the food arrived and again when ordering coffee. I appreciate that at this time of year that tables are booked out back to back, with it being Christmas. However we felt 1) the limited time to eat should have been mentioned when we booked, weeks ago, giving us the option to eat elsewhere if we wanted a leisurely lunch.2) That we really didn't need reminding 5 times that there were time restrictions on us. 3) We had no option but to order differently than we'd have done if we hadn't had those limits. Sadly, Bread n Butter this time youve left us disappointed at the Christmas lunch we thought we were going to have v the rushed lunch we received .
