We had a group meal at the Preston restaurant and found the food and hospitality excellent. Highly recommended.
East Z East – Preston
Preston in Lancashire is a cosmopolitan city located on the River Ribble and is also the home of the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN). Many restaurants and food pubs can be found in the city centre and its suburbs.
We had a group meal at the Preston restaurant and found the food and hospitality excellent. Highly recommended.
East Z East – PrestonWhat a fantastic place. We were all blown away. It looks cool and funky. The service was very professional and friendly. The food was excellent and filling (it's hot and spicy be warned though!). It's open all day and has a great cocktail list. I wasn't expecting it to be as good as this. A really good menu too that I want to work through.
Turtle Bay – PrestonMy husband and I took a friend out to a meal here on Friday last. We all had fish and chips and basically afterwards we all agreed it was nearly inedible, The fish was completely dry and tasteless, the mushy peas were cold and the chips were undercooked, As we were treating someone we did not complain at the time, but wish we had done.We have eaten here frequently and had very goods meals, but since it became self-service we find the whole place has gone downhill and this was the rock bottom. We will certainly not be going there again.
Guild Merchant – PrestonBest indian take away in Preston. Service and staff exceptional, food consistently good. Always willing to advise on dishes.
Amonbagh Indian Takeaway – PrestonHad a great lunch on my own at Slice of Sicily. A fine Sicilian pizza and a coffee. Managed to get a lot of work done on their Wi-Fi. Great spot just off the motorway in Fulwood near the hospital.
Slice of Sicily in Fulwood – PrestonDrinking mojitos, eating jerk chicken and curried goat, best Sunday ever.
Turtle Bay – PrestonA superior Indian restaurant in terms of food quality, presentation and their take on famous Indian dishes. Service was good. The food took a while to arrive which I saw as a positive. In many Indian venues the food appears in seconds, reheated. Here it would appear they cook to order. The Chapati bread was the best I have had as it was fresh and tender. Why do other lesser Indian restaurants serve old breads and popodoms? It's insulting that such basic foods are not fresh. The place looks a bit naff. Perhaps they think it cool and contemporary. We felt it looked dated, which is a problem with restaurants who go for trendy styling. Anyway, I went for a good curry and I got one. Would recommend.
East Z East – PrestonWe enjoyed a very nice lunch at the Plough at Eaves last week. It was very busy which is always a good sign. We are going back for dinner soon!
The Plough At Eaves – PrestonWe went to the grand opening of the Olive Tree Brasserie last night. First impressions were great! A perfect location in Preston at the Miller Arcade. Its cool and sleek without being over contemporary- which always dates so quick. It's airy and bright with its floor to ceiling windows on two sides. Open kitchen, bench and booth seating. Our canapes were a very good interpretation of the full menu. Juicy and succulent Greek and Mediterranean treats, served by young and cool waiting staff. I expect the restaurant will do very well and look forward to dining next time I'm in Preston.
Olive Tree Brasserie – PrestonExcellent, friendly pub with welcoming staff. Visit this pub every saturday with family, young children. Always made to feel very welcome. Lovely log fire and excellent food. Would highly reccommend.
Smiths Arms – PrestonI had a fantastic steak from The NYC Steakhouse, one of the best I have ever had. However the sauce was very poor in comparison. Not sure about the decor, just not to my taste, it's all black.
NYC Steakhouse & Grill – PrestonOk for the price, but have had better elsewhere for fish and chips.
Ali’s Chippery and Curry House – PrestonWent to a 40th birthday party and was very disappointed with their bar prices, other guests mentioned this also so it just wasn't me. It was one of the only 40ths I've attended where the majority of guests were still sober at the end of the night - if invited to another event at Bartle Hall I would definitely make an excuse and avoid. By having smaller profit margins I'm sure they could reap higher profits.
Nest at Bartle Hall Hotel – PrestonA yummy lunch with the ladies today at Langs!
The Lounge Bar and Restaurant – PrestonWe have had many meals at the Saddle Inn. Staff are friendly and courteous. The food is good and plenty for bigger appetites.
Saddle Inn – PrestonI had heard about the new Indian restaurant in Preston, The Silk Route. It replaced Ming Dynasty which I always found a bit soulless. The name suggested a fusion of cuisine's that gather along the real Silk Route in Asia. However it's a typical curry house that serves good Indian fayre. Nothing out of the ordinary, which was slightly disappointing. The venue doesn't look much different and could do with something to provide more atmosphere. Service was friendly and efficient from the waiter, though the table next to mine complained about their wait. My portion of chicken tikka Jalfrezi was ample, rich in sauce and hot! I would return I suppose but as I don't live nearby, not in a great hurry.
The Silk Route – PrestonThis has quickly become my favourite dining place in Preston. The reception is stunning and the restaurant is lovely, staff very friendly and food excellent. The area of town is nice too. Definitely worth a visit!
Face Chinese Restaurant – PrestonReally enjoyed my meal at the Silk Route Preston. Had the chilli Jhal, hot and tasty! Took some home in a doggy bag and would definitely return.
The Silk Route – PrestonSunday Lunch: 1 course, £18.95; 2 courses, £23.95; 3 courses, £28.95. Available 12pm-8pm Sundays.
