Great food ! Lovely refurb and great staff my favourite place

Wow, I'd read reviews and was expecting a lot. The reality was even better. Great decor and ambience. The hostess was very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We sat at the bar to have an aperitif and peruse the menu, it was like we were meeting old friends as we chatted to the barstaff who were very knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. Its not your typical Italian restaurant, there's no pasta on the menu. Its more like Italian tapas. We were really hungry and ordered 11 dishes to share, my brother has a very healthy appetite. The beef carpaccio melted in the mouth, the melon and parma ham was uplifted with slithers of fresh reggio parmigiana. My brother absolutely loved the lamb ribs with a tangy bbq sauce, the meat was soft, tender and falling off the bone. I indulged in 6 oysters natural which were big, plump, fresh and properly shucked so they still tasted of the ocean, some of the nicest oysters I've ever had. The scallops with delicate flavours of Thailand, the grilled prawns off the daily specials board and the sicilian salad of fennel, fresh orange segments, mint and other amazing tastes were all incredibly moreish. I even found room for a delicate panna cotta with fresh berries. Our favourite dish was a mix of mushrooms in a rich gorganzola and salsa verde sauce. I haven't stopped thinking about the food and cant wait to go back. Everything we ate was fresh, presented beautifully and prepared with careful attention paid to the balance of flavours in each dish. Now it wasn't cheap but we had two cocktails each, a nice bottle of wine and after dinner liquors without which it would have been much cheaper, obviously. It was a special night out for us and worth every penny. I travel and dine out extensively and often have amazing dishes but its very rare that I find everything delicious. I honestly cant recommend A'vucciria highly enough. I'm planning to eat there again very soon. There's lots more on the menu I want to sample.

Lovely new decor but food not so good . Staff need some training.

Lovely food at a reasonable price.

Our 2nd visit in a week. 1st. Visit we hadn’t booked but were graciously taken to a table with a view and had an absolutely excellent steak and Stilton pie. Yesterday we did book just for a quick lunch as we were travelling to Knutsford. We had chicken and crispy bacon ciabatta. Again very good. Lovely decor,good friendly service. Can’t recommend highly enough. We’ll be back.

My wife and I had a lovely meal on Friday , my wife had the chicken sizzler and I had the fish pie both were tasty and great value , the staff were very attentive and pleasant, and with the newly refurbished decor it was a very nice and relaxing evening , something we both said we should do again , thanks see you soon

Absolutely delicious and delightful meal. We met up with friends from afar and thought this might be a good place to eat - simply because I'd been past so many times and was curious. We two couples each had the 5 dish for two sharing. Plus wine, beer, and coffees. The dishes were excellent. Timings were excellent. Service was excellent. Definitely coming back.

Went with my daughter yesterday. First time since the refurbishment, the whole place and the staff felt very welcoming. Glad we booked as it was very busy. We had starters and mains, the food was really well cooked and the price was reasonable for such quality. Definitely down for a revisit.

Booked a table well in advance for 4 and requested to be seated away from the bar area. They sat us near the bar on a circular table With 2 tub chairs and a 2 seater sofa not Ideal with a circular table and obviously sat lower than on normal chairs,not ideal with 2 younger children. Food was good along with the service just a shame they didn't read the booking information.

We met up with some friends for dinner whilst visiting our son and daughter in law in Helmshore and on our daughter in laws recommendation booked the Whitchaff. So pleased we did, the food was excellent and the staff outstanding. We are visiting again in January and the Whitchaff will definitely be having another visit from us.

The Inn has been impressively updated and now has more of a restaurant feel; the food was excellent, as was the service from the young staff

Fantastic , just a shame some of the guests choose to use their mobiles with background videos while eating and make burp without an apology

Food was lovely, our waitress was very friendly and welcoming and it looks fantastic after its refurb a very relaxing atmosphere. Will definitely be going back and it’s a bonus that it’s on our doorstep.

Great little find. Food was fantastic and the waiter/waitress was very attentive. Would highly recommend to anyone. I traveled a fair way to get here and will do again in the new year.

Great location great food superb service and staff very nice, definitely will be going again

Took my family out for my daughter in laws birthday on Sunday, there were 5 adults and 3 children. The refurbishment looks great a massive improvement. The food was fantastic from the starters to the desserts. Four of the ma8l meals were off the specials board and they were definitely special. Fantastic food in great surroundings. I would definitely recommend ans will be going again.

Always such a lovely atmosphere and consistently delicious food no matter what you order. So lucky to have such a great pub as our local! The staff are always so friendly and welcoming.
