But at the meal we had in the Hamnavoe the other night, the vegetarian option which three of us chose, was delicious, as imaginative and cooked with as much care as the options which our meat-eating companions had. All were delicious. The service too is friendly and warm, as well as efficient. We had a great night! Thank you.

The food is consistently superb, striking a fine balance between haute cuisine and everyday local fare. All the dishes are inventive and well thought out, without being too exotic. I look forward to visiting very often in the future.

Ravelston House – EdinburghNostalgic visit to golden lion for a meal with my 86yr old father. Vegan options brilliant, staff cheery under great pressure. Staff performed above and beyond in order to try and satisfy the demand on the day. Management were not visible to us and should have been out supporting the staff and communicating the expected delays to the customers. The kitchen were producing the food as quickly as they could and it was delicious when it arrived. Communication to customers from management was the only issue on the day.
