A perfect place to eat! We had three courses and all were perfectly cooked. Service was spot on, polite and friendly, and not overbearing. Wine list was excellent with two choices of red and white to have by the glass. The pedro ximinez went well with the desert! We will come back every time In Orkney.

We loved the use of the wonderful local produce throughout the menu. If we had more time during our stay we definitely would’ve returned to Hamnavoe.

Hubby stuck to the traditional soup, steak pie & toffee pudding, hich he loved & I had the chilli prawns with the most delicious dressing I've ever tasted( would love the recipe) then the special of steamed trout with mash done with a creamy leek sauce. Once again I didnt want the meal to end it was WOW! finished off with a sticky toffee. Needless to say, clean plates all round. Chef & staff such a credit to the Golden Lion, we will def make this a more regular meal out. Thankyou xx

Hamnavoe – Orkneys and ShetlandsMy 2 friends and I booked a table at 12pm on Thurs 6 April - we were the first diners who arrived in restaurant - and it was 12.45pm before we got our starter. We did notice that other diners who arrived after us were served before us! We did explain to a server that we were in a hurry and next 2 courses were a bit hurried. I do have to say the 3-course lunch was well worth it and very good value and was delicious. I am visiting the Ravelston in the next few weeks and hope the experience is more leisurely.
