We’d heard great things about the Harbour lights in its new guise. (Not geared up for a pub, more like a restaurant. We’d previously been 2 weeks ago and had a 5 out of 5 rating for our visit. We booked for 1pm and they were having to turn people away as it was full. Braised beef feather blade and liver and onions, separate veg were excellent. Staff were friendly and included a check back during our meal. The restaurant deserves to be a hit for years to come.

Two very satisfied customers, staff were great and of course the food was excellent. We will be back soon!

Booked in for meal last night (28/6/25) and must say we thoroughly enjoyed it. Ordered rump steak and was cooked to perfection, nice chunky chips salad and black pudding. Ordered extra onion rings and portion was huge. Staff very friendly and attentive. No hesitation in recommending. We will return

The meal was very good but with a couple of caveats. Firstly, it needed to be aesthetically pleasing. With the cajun chicken and chips appearing to be the sane colour, it neede an addition of a bit of salad, a bit of colour to break up the same colour on the plate.. The cajun chicken was a bit too salty. As a former head chef I do know about sight and taste. Overall very good, just needs attention to colour. Remember, people eat initially with their sight. Obviously cannot comment on other dishes, just this one but overall an excellent experience. Would eat there again

Dined here a number of times. It is our goto if passing through South Shields. The food is excellent and the staff are very efficient and friendly. Usually very busy so booking is a good idea. Jan and Michael run a great establishment with a very efficient and congenial team. The prices are very reasonable.

Another lovely evening in one of our favourite places. Can never fault the food, the staff or the value for money. So welcoming for a relaxed evening with friends. We'll be back.

Had Sunday lunch with 3 friends feathered blade of beef. The beef fell apart at touch and was perfectly cooked enormous Yorkshire pudding beautiful veg mash and roasties beautiful food cold drinks amazing friendly service efficient and fast always checking your OK love this place recommend and book before going well worth the the pricec11.99 for a fantastic Sunday dinner.

Had lunch with 4 friends yesterday. We all enjoyed the food which was fresh and home cooked. Service was friendly and efficient. I have been a few times recently and not been disappointed yet

4 ladies had lunch on Thursday. Staff so friendly and accommodating as one of our group is partially sighted, another dairy intolerant. It can be difficult to eat out, not at the Harbour lights. Food was delicious, love they have a fish menu, dressed crab salad was a real treat. We will be back.

Went here for a birthday meal excellent service food was high quality and the homemade triple cooked chips are delicious lovely friendly staff members great service would highly recommend

Food as usual was absolutely beautiful with massive portions. Never had a bad meal here and we are weekly visitors. Breakfasts are great value, quality and taste. Light bites are huge and evening meals are spot on. The onion rings are banging.

We have been to the Harbour lights in different incarnations for years, so we were looking forward to visiting and having some peaceful time with family. The staff were great, food excellent, location great even on a dull day. Grandson enjoyed his pizza whilst my beef dinner and son’s huge mince and dumplings were brilliant value as well as great tasting. We liked that the vegetables were served separately. Pricing was surprisingly good too.

Once again, well 3 time's sinse last week. Weve vistited the harbour lights Back again for fathers day' this is a hidden gem.. service is the best ive ever encountered in all my days, the staff are so pleasent nothing is a bother and the team who own the pub are caring about theire customers the food is also quality, the cruzcampo lager is so good michael keeps the best pint of beer in tynside. Best book a table as people turn up on spec only to be told so sorry were fully booked thanks again guys, keep doing what your doing..

This has been a regular visit for my wife and I. The food is fantastic. The service is first class and the staff are lovely! Always look forward to going back!

Really nice venue and good food. Only reason for marking down is previous 2 visits I have ordered Rare steak, and both times it came Well Done. Maybe third time lucky?

Food was enjoyed by everyone and it was beautifully presented. Homecooked, hot and plenty of choice. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Will definitely be returning.
