Kasturi Indian Cuisine – Southport

Firstly, May I point out how fantastic, friendly and warm the service was! It was simply unbeatable. You could hold a conversation as if you've knew them for ages and are having a general catch up as it were. Now, onto the food. Delicious. No, heavenly. For starters I had the minestrone soup which was freshly prepared for me, then for the Main I had the Chilli con carne, my brother had the barbecued pork if I remember correctly which he wolfed down (considering he's a fussy eater this was a great result!) and my grandma had the vegetarian option. The chilli con carne was slightly piquant, but delectable all the same. Also, don't forget that the food cooked here is ALL home-made. Twinned with the ambient surroundings (and the service!), you have the most fantastic dining experience. There's no long wait as you'd find in Pizza Express, and the food is piping hot without fail. They have a desert trolley with all home made cakes made by the chef, if I had my way I would have had them all. No over exaggeration. I ended up going for the lemon meringue like my brother whilst my grandma settled for the apple crumble. We all enjoyed the deserts thoroughly. Taking into account the quality of the food, service and surroundings you'd be expecting a hefty bill when you go to pay. Do not fear, I was pleasantly surprised when the waitress told us how much it was. Absolutely outstanding, it really is. So, if your looking for a pleasant restaurant, that is ideally situated in Southport with top-notch, fresh home-made food and don't want to splash the cash then the Little Gourmet is perfect for you. Go on, give it a try. I promise you won't regret it. (Next time I'm up North that's my 1st stop.)

I would Not call it a recommendation but more to the Contrary. My Wife & I have not been there for years & that was when it was called the ''Natterjack''. It is My Birthday this weekend & My Wife thought She would surprise me & go to the Toby Carvery as some of her work mates had recommended it to her. We both went there this evening Friday April 15th 2011. May I say that We were both shocked by the Food on offer. Turkey / Beef / Honey Mustard Gammon, all sounds great but if it is poorly cooked or dried out as this was then it is Not to appetising. The Vege was all dried out including the Peas which looked like they had been shrunk & were wrinkled. The Mashed potato was like Crispy Polycell. To put it mildly it was a disgrace. The carvery meat was badly presented in as much as the Beef was only the size of A Fist as was the Honey Mustard Gammon & yet it was still being carved up. The Turkey on the other hand was about 12inch high. My Wife & I do go to the Bay Horse in Formby & have never had a bad meal there. We most certainly will Not be back to the Ainsdale Toby. Thought you should know. We could Not Fault the Service or the Staff but the Food Yaaagh !!!

Visited bistro verite on 5.3.11 for my husband's birthday, and was not disappointed. Menu was original, taking all 6 of us ages to decide, and we all thoroughly enjoyed everything. The service was also excellent. Can't wait to return. Marie

I visited this restaurant with a party of 40 people a few weeks ago for a 40th birthday celebration. The Restaurant only had seating for 32 on arrival. They had only ONE waiter serving. The manger (I think called Rob of which no other staff member would volunteer his name) was extremely unhelpful, uncaring, unsympathetic and down right rude to a number of members of the party of whom were visibly upset by his conduct. I would not recommend this Restaurant venue to anyone. I shall be writing to the Southport Tourist Board about the Managers conduct that evening.

This is the best Indian food I have ever tasted! I always get take away from here, but it's also lovely to eat in as the service is so friendly! The 4 course early bird menu is such a bargain, you get lots of food for your money! I would recommend everyone to try their food, it is out of this world! I could never eat from another Indian now as it would never compare.

My wife and I called in this week when visiting Southport and had a very pleasant lunch. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her linguine with crayfish and I had a superb pizza. The base was the equal best in the U K beaten only by the ultimate from a Vancouver Micro Brewery where the Parmesan base was awesome. Coupled the food with an Aruuzzi beer and a Montepulchiano wine and two coffees and we were in lunch heaven. We will return when next over. Many thanks

What a wonderful gem in the middle of Chapel Street! If you want fresh, home-cooked food served in generous portions, this is the place to visit. The service is good and the you also get value for money. We would recommend Pippins whether you want a full meal or a slice of home made Lemon Drizzle cake and a mug of freshly ground coffee. Definitely worth trying!!!
