Garam Masala – CannockThis is a copy of an E-mail I have sent to the Saleem Bagh restaurant, Queens Square, Cannock, WS11 1EH. You need to know negative feedback such as this because I think it is important. Thankyou. Dear Sir, Myself, my wife and some friends attended your restaurant at about 00.45am on Sunday, 22nd February, 2009 (Saturday night / Sunday morning) . I have read numerous reports in the local press about your good reputation within the community and how you operate to a very high standard. As a citizen of Cannock, I have indeed used you restaurant on many occasions over past the years. I am therefore very disappointed in the service we received when visiting your establishment. I am told that whilst I was in the toilets, one of your staff told the group that they should have only one poppadom each because we would be quicker eating them, as you all wanted to go home. Unfortunately, I wasn't there to hear that remark, because if I had, I would have walked out of your restaurant. That was an extremely rude, unprofessional and offensive comment. If you did not want our custom, then you should not have allowed us into the restaurant. We were the customers who were there to pay you for your services, not for you to tell us how much we can have to eat or how long we should take to eat it!! Furthermore, you did not wait for us to finish our poppadoms before you brought the main meals out and started placing them on the table. We were not asked if we were ready. Where is your etiquette? The last issue I want to raise is that you started to clear the table before everybody had finished eating their main meals. This again, is extremely rude and disrespectful. You should wait until every one has finished eating before you do this. It made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. It is not good to have someone leaning across one, whilst one is trying to eat one's meal. You did not offer us desserts, or ask us if we wanted more drinks (which of course would have meant more money for you). You appeared impatient and it was apparent that you could not wait for us to go. We are all respectable people and we behaved respectfully towards you. Is it too much to ask for the same in return? Remember, it is we, the customers, whom you rely on for your livelihood. There is a saying that 'the customer is always right'. After all, it would seem that the only reason you allowed us into your restaurant because you wanted our money. Not because you valued our custom. You certainly did not make us welcome. The only polite thing you did was to call a taxi for us. I thank you for that. I know that you have been established in Cannock for many years. I just hope that you do not treat your other customers in such a way. I shall expect a response from you, before I decide whether or not I am going to report this to the Chase Post newspaper. They give you a lot of positive reports and they need to know the true picture. I shall not be using your restaurant again. I respectfully await your reply. Sincerely,
Saleem Bagh – CannockMy husband and I went there for a 65th Birthday Meal last night 17th February 2009, and it was absolutely marvellous. The food and service was excellent and it was a wonderful evening. We will definitely be coming back. Gwen and Dave Hulson
The Rag – CannockThe Garam offers both Chinese or Indian food -so its perfect if you're going with friends who like different things! I eat there most weekends and love the food, the service and the atmosphere. My favourite dishes are Silsila (a lamb and chicken Chinese and Indian fusion dish) and the Mass Platter which is a mix of monkfish, prawns and salmon. They also now have a beautiful function room upstairs - the decor is not what you would expect at a curry house - it's really special! Haven't tried all the curry houses in Cannock - this is by far the best!
Garam Masala – CannockHave given this pub the benefit of the doubt a few times but I am disappointed. Positives, Sunday lunches are good value for money and well worth a visit for, the pedigree is mainly good. Negatives, apart from Sunday lunch then drive past the place, even get served in an empty bar is hard work, the staff are more interested in gossiping than serving, the landlady looks and treats you with contempt (personal observations only). I would and do pop in for Sunday lunch despite the slow and inapt service but apart from that I would not bother.

Foresters Tavern – BurntwoodIf you are wondering what to have during the week then nip in for one of there cheap carverys. Food is edible and the beer is competitively priced. Family friendly and excellent value for money.
Wych Elm – BurntwoodI totally agree that the food in Aashiqs is excellent, been a few times and never had cause for complaint in the food. It has no bar so you can take your own drinks making it a cheaper night out. My only gripe has been that sometimes have felt rushed (Friday and Saturday nights) during there busy periods when they want you eaten and out. On saying that it is by far the best Indian in the area.
Aashiq’s Balti Restaurant – BurntwoodI always go Clayton it has friendly staff and a good atmosphere
The Gate House – NewcastleThe food is always excellent and the staff amazing. big play area which is good for the grandchildren. 11 of us going sunday 18th 2009 to celebrate my birthday.. again would recommend this place to all.
Pretty Pigs Inn – TamworthHaving taken a slight detour going from our Daughters in Manchester to South Wales, we stopped at this watering hole on top of the peaks in thick fog. To walk through the door and be greeted by a real fire and friendly landlord was the start of the pleasure. Being a pig I ordered the mixed grill and my wife the sausage and eggs. They did state it may take time and it did but the wait was worth it. What really made it for us was a thing that we find hard to find in our area but sets it off, REAL CHIPS!!!! Maybe we will take the long way home again. Thanks again and good luck. Evan Williams
The Winking man – Leekwent for a meal on christmas Eve absolutely awful! served the wrong dishes food bland, boring expensive extremely disappointed would not recommend .Was offered a refund by manager who then disappeared! will not dine there again
