Last minute booking for Sunday Lunch. Beautiful area and views. Friendly staff and very obviously a ‘local’. Great beef roast which we really enjoyed. Unpretentious good price too.

First time visit on a detour drive to Warrington, we were welcomed by big smiles from the friendly staff who were more than happy to help. We were sat down with a window view overlooking the beautiful hills and valleys. The decor is what I love about a pub, keeping the history of the building at heart. Meals were fantastic, all four of us enjoyed what we had picked. The youngest son has already asked when we next visit Warrington to see family can we do the same again an come back to visit. All in all an top family friendly pub. Would highly recommend, thank you for having us!

My friends and I had a lovely afternoon at the Shepherds Restaurant recently. The views were outstanding and the food delicious. We will be booking again!

We had been told about this restaurant by a friend and we weren’t disappointed The views are spectacular and the food and service the best we have had anywhere. It was nice to be greeted by a smiley lady and nothing was too much trouble for her customers. The food was delicious and with ample potions. If you’ve not tried this pub/restaurant you really must.

Our favourite place to come for Sunday lunch! We even bring along our Staffy who gets a dinner too! The Sunday lunches are by far the best around with generous portions and everything cooked just right. Great menu choice and the service is friendly and on point! We will be back again soon!

We have visited several times and absolutely loved the atmosphere, the staff and of course the food. Yesterday we had our post wedding meal, only a small affair but the service was excellent, the food absolutely perfect, all empty plates after, and we had requested a small cake just to cut, which they made for us and we couldn’t have asked for more. We will be back very soon, thank you all very much

We came on a thursday evening, with 2 small children. Staff were super accommodating, friendly & professional. the food was exceptional. Can't wait to come again

We stayed in a cottage near The Shepherd's Rest for a week seeing friends and relatives. We ate at the pub 3 times and we and our guests all enjoyed the food and, particularly, the service. We will return.

Wanted to treat my family to a meal out after a very busy weekend and the Shepherds Rest was top of their list. Atmosphere and service excellent. The Sunday Nut Roast went down really well and my husband enjoyed his pork dish. I love the cheese pie and was really looking forward to my meal. Unfortunately, when it arrived the order was wrong. The dish came with mash instead of chips and was covered in gravy instead of served separately. The staff tried their best to correct the order but unfortunately the pie couldn’t be replaced as I had the last one. Sadly, I didn’t enjoy my meal. We’ll be back and in future double check our food orders.

I took my family to celebrate my son's 16th birthday. He specifically requested the beef & onion pie. Everything was great, quality, service, location. And the beef and onion pie is outstanding. It remains our go-to special occasion pub

Came for Sunday lunch yesterday. Was absolutely amazing, I was surprised at the amount of meat given on the roast dinners. And my daughter's half roast was just enough for her. She ate it all bar a piece of pork. Lol. Great service. Definitely recommend ☺️

Had lunch on Saturday great place to stop mid Hike. I had the Battered Cod sandwich and chunky chips amazing ! Great food, Service and value for money 10/10

The service was excellent. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The food looked and tasted fantastic! The desserts were delicious. My friend said the cheesecake was the best she'd ever had! The only gripe I have is my daughter asked why the vegetarian roast wasn't vegan and was advised there was egg in the nut roast. However, no one mentioned that there was butter and cream in the mashed potatoes. My daughter doesn't eat dairy (preference) so was disappointed that she wasn't advised there was dairy in the mash.

Fabulous proper country pub. Great menu choice and great food especially the pies and Sunday roast! Good beers on draught and a lovely choice of wines. Real fires in the winter and a lovely beer garden in the summer with a play area for kids. All set in a stunning location. The staff are warm friendly and attentive. The pub itself is spotlessly clean. What’s not to love?! It obviously has superb managers / owners because in a tough industry they’re doing a blooming great job. Highly recommended.
