Service & Food were exceptional & we love this pub and are loyal customers. However, when I booked I asked for a table near heaters & was told that this was ok & tables were sheltered & that this was fine. Upon arrival, our table was in the thoroughfare (table 30) & wind was travelling right through the courtyard up & down & we had no heaters, we were not sheltered and the nearest heater was 7 feet away (despite many others being under heaters & in t-shirts) & we were just too cold. The food was awesome & the service was attentive & great, however, we got too cold to stay. We will be back when warmer, as we know how good this pub is, but this is our review of yesterday’s stay. We realise the current circumstances, but we would rather have been told you were full than been out somewhere so cold/exposed.

Great staff. A warm welcome on arrival and very attentive service. We had the fish finger sandwiches which were delicious. Will visit again on our next trip to Wadebridge.

Fantastic reception on arrival, the freshly pressed apple juice was sublime, looked like a cocktail at breakfast time! The prices are higher than a street cafe but the view, service and ambiance are worth every penny, Really cool place to hang out

May 2011...This was the first time back in Polzeath after 27 years.... not changed that much at all.... except for an Indian Restaurant !! Perched high on Tristram Cliff overlooking Polzeath Bay, we set out on our first day to find it. A few steps up Dunders Hill and to the right reveals a small coastal path which takes you direct to Cafe India. We were greeted by Adie, a very chatty guy and great host who didn't mind us just calling in for a pint of Cobra. Cafe India is a Restaurant, Bar and Takeaway, so you have to remember you can just nip in for a beer, albeit a dear one at £4.00 a pint of Cobra, but the views are magnificent and magical (the local pubs were not much cheaper). Three pints later we decided to book a table for the following Tuesday. After arriving we had a couple of Cobras before we ordered, the wife had Prawn Puri and I had Balti Tandoori Grill which is grilled chicken, lamb and sheek kebab served coated with a light balti sauce... delicious !!! My wife had Ayre Jalfrezi (fish dish) and I had Duck Naga... portions were very hearty... keema rice with a keema naan bread and a bottle of house wine £66.00. This restaurant has only opened this year and deserves to succeed... here's our best to Adie and his team !!! See you next year !!!

One word - "Excellent". The menu suits all members of the family and I have to say that the portions are a good size and well presented. We only waited about 15 mins and there were 9 of us dining. They have done a superb job in totally renovating this Restaurant. Can't find a single fault and would thoroughly recommend! Porthilly Mussels best I've ever had anywhere.

I took the recommendation off this website and treated my family to a birthday bash. It was excellent and the eat as much as you like on Wednesday was some thing else. You don,t just get a choice of dishes on a buffet. You get the whole menu to choose from and you just keep choosing until you can't eat any more. The food was great

This Cafe has the ambience, food quality & presentation of a Blackpool Pleasure Beach Cafe with the prices a of a central London Restaurant - we regrettably didn't check prices before we entered but saw the sign & fancied fish & chips. The no more than 5oz Battered Haddock was tasteless, arrived only with a large bowl of McDonalds style (very thin) chips, a very small bowl of rock hard peas & tartare sauce!. For this & 2 small bottles of Coca Cola we paid £39! This is the worst value establishment have have ever been to - an absolute 'rip-off'

I had a very bad experience on my first (and certainly the last!) visit to this restaurant. I had dinner here recently with my wife and 14-month old son and although this place described itself as 'family-friendly', when I arrived there I was told rather tersely and unsympathetically that they do not have or provide high chairs for small children. When I questioned the owner (Abdul) about their claim on restaurant guides/websites of being 'family-friendly', his curt reply was - "you should have checked before you came and made the decision beforehand"!! To me this came across as an absolutely nasty shock and being particularly rude. Basically, he was implying that families with children are NOT welcome at his restaurant! Moving on to the food, I have to say that not only was the food far from authentic Indian (it was clearly Bangladeshi!), but it did not taste good either. The seafood we ordered was certainly not fresh and too much of colour and spices were used. To make things even worse, everything on the menu was overpriced (I have eaten in popular upmarket Indian restaurants in London and the prices at The Raj were around the same!). I feel that this is a really cheeky and dishonest tactic because the general impression is that if something is priced rather high, then it must be good!! Even the pappad and pickles that is served on arrival was charged at a ridiculous £3.80!! The really cheeky thing about this 'pappad business' is that as soon as we sat at our table the waiter comes up to you and casually asks you 'how many pappads you would like'. He never mentions (and I'm sure is clearly instructed not to!) that it is not complimentary, rather will be charged. This is a very deceptive tactic, as the guest is tricked into thinking that it is a complimentary item (as it indeed is in many good Indian restaurant across UK). The worst part of my experience at this restaurant was the absolutely impolite and uncouth behaviour by the owner of this place, Mr.Abdul. Not only is this person totally incapable of conversing with his guests in a polite and decent manner, but moreover he has this attitude about him that seems to suggest that he is doing his customers a favour by letting them eat at his place!! He needs to learn to talk and behave like the local people, especially those in Cornwall, who are amongst the most friendly in this country.

This restaurant /cafe - as others have indicated is pricey. Expensive is OK if visible and reflected in value. Unfortunately this was not our experience last week (Sep 09) We were handed menus and our gaze directed to the 'Specials' on display. Without checking the Menu we went for the trad. fish & chips on the board (pricey we thought at £9 ish each - but "hey this is Rock - it'll be good") We ordered two fish but with just one portion of chips for the 2 of us; Fish was fine - not excellent. Chips were matchstick frozen type but the pot of peas were 'rock' (pardon the pun) hard. Hungry.... we were fed. We were more than surprised though, to be presented with a bill for £33.50 which included a coke and tonic water. On checking - we were told that the 'on board ' price was the 'take away price' Sadly, we hadnt consulted the Menu after being shown the boards....knowledge is all Wont be going back. Far better value to be had elsewhere. PS Tables could do with a scrub. Wooden slats ingrained with ketchup doesn't look good. On the positive side - the waitress was pleasant, the location is enviable as is the classy seaside ambience but they shouldn't expect to profit from that alone by maximising takings from unwitting visitors in the short season.

Fantastic food in wadebridge. The lady who served us really knew her stuff and also all about the area and was so sweet and helpful even though obviously rushed off her feet. They have an "all you can eat" on Wednesday evenings..this is such a bargain! One wouldn't expect such a deal when it's normally a little on the expensive side. No wonder they were so busy. Would advise booking for this and ask for lady with long gingery hair to tell you where to visit if (like us) you don't know the area!

I'm not one for entering comments, but had the carvery today (Sunday lunchtime). Have to say this was as good a carvery as I have ever had (and I'm no spring chicken - 50). Staff polite, food wonderful - vegetables al dente, batters just right and a very generous helping of meat, perfectly cooked. Well worth a visit, but need to book unless you're happy to chance the outside tables (which I did).

Absolutely crazy prices even for the Rock area, a chicken burger at the exorbitant price of 13 pounds, I'd expect the whole damn chicken in a bun for that price, coffee also far too expensive. Surprisingly never seemed that busy at any time of day. About time there was some competition for this overpriced excuse for a cafe!!!.

A really rare find. A quaint pub in a dear little Village. The Menu seemed fine but after ordering just 2 very small glasses of white wine we declined to eat there....they cost £9 for the 2! Afraid to say we certainly won't be visiting again, this was a blatant and exorbitant Gastropub at it's worst.

There are actualy TWO Indian restaurants in Wadebridge. The Bash Bagan is easily the best for cuisine and for its extremely friendly service. The Dal Sambar is simply to die for and the same quality is somehow replicated week after week.

We were looking for a place to take some old friends, food was superb, all the typical English food but done in a very trendy style, and beautifully cooked. Atmosphere was great and we were all impressed. Service was excellent and the staff very friendly. Will definitely go there again.

What a pretentious cafe, with surly rude staff! Shouted at me because I had the audacity to bring in a buggy, Therefore would advise management that the back to front sign on the front door is a bad idea... Overpriced food I mean £9.95 for an Egg Mayo sandwich even if it "does come buttered" and with packet of crisp!!!!! and £4.50 for a smoothie..would have to be a whole weeks portion of fruit for that price Better to go up the road to the delightful "The Rock Bakery" where they not only charge £1.95 for said sandwich, they also have some yummy pasties and cakes.....Although they would benefit from tables and chairs outside as eating in the car does leave lots of crumbs....
