The food was exceptional,reasonably priced, and beautifully cooked. The staff were very friendly and attentive. It was our second visit to the restaurant .We will be back.Cant recommend it enough.

Warm welcome. Good but not outstanding food and service.

I'm going to preface this review with the following - I love this restaurant, it is currently my favourite in Wells. I've eaten here a few times and the food had also been cooked to perfection. I've eaten here in the evening, for a weekday lunch and most recently, Sunday lunch. Also, the service has always been fantastic. But I also have to say... I went, with my partner for Sunday lunch a week ago (birthday treat for him). He ordered the roast beef and it looked amazing. Decent portion sized and he said it was delicious. As a chef I could tell by looking the meat was cooked perfectly. I tried some of his tenderstem broccoli and it was perfection. I don't eat meat. There was only one non-meat option on the menu (no fish option either) and I didn't really fancy it. That's not to say it wasn't good, I just didn't like the sound of it personally. Given there was nothing else on the menu I could eat, the waitress suggested I have 2 starters instead and I readily agreed. This seemed like the perfect solution (The price of 2 veggie starters equalled the exact amount of the vegan roast). So I ordered the vegan pate with toasted brioche and halloumi salad with orange. Both were lovely but also tiny. Four tiny pieces of haloumi with a garnish rather than a salad and 2 tiny slithers of pate with barely any bread. 3 bites each and they were gone. Neither my partner nor I are big pudding eaters, especially at lunchtime but he did fancy the cheese board. At £11 (the most expensive option) I assumed this would either contain some really nice, fancy cheeses (we're spoilt in the West Country for amazing cheese and I don't just mean cheddar) or be big enough to share, just a little bit. Unfortunately it came with 3 little slithers of cheese - a meh stilton, cheddar and brie. They weren't awful but there are so many better ones around locally, especially for Cheddar. Could I recommend a nice Yarg maybe?). And it wasn't enough to share. To be fair, it wasn't advertised as a sharing place but at £11, I expected more. All of that said. I still highly recommend this place. Just be careful what you order if you're hungry! A tiny bit more food, at the the same prices, wouldn't hurt.

Wonderful meal , very flavourful starters and main. This is the second time we have eaten here ( we live a long way from Wells, and ate here last summer) . Both times we really enjoyed our time at the Olive Tree. Very lovely , friendly , waitresses too!

Disappointing. It was our wedding Anniversary. We booked for 12.30pm and arrived a few minutes early. We chose a light lunch option - Devon scollops and ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio. We sipped an average wine and waited. Our light bite was served to us 35 minutes later with an apology that they had lost our order. The three small scollops, costing us £12 seemed very small, although the taste was good. We decided to go to go to Carwardins for our coffee. We will not be going back.

Lovely Sunday lunch as usual.

My husband and I had a lovely time at the Olive last night - Would love to say food was great, but sadly first off they forgot our starter, so had them for seconds, with our blessing. The sad part was the grit! As the muscles were very gritty, so much so I couldn’t finish. Informed front of house but apart from being sorry that was it! Not really what I would expect from a good restaurant. This put behind us the overall food quality was very good - just front of house and maybe suppliers that need to up their game.

Birthday Lunch for my wife along with our dog. Very friendly courteous service in the courtyard on an exceedingly hot day. Drinks bowl provided for Juno as soon as we sat down. Only slight distraction was the venue next door emptying the previous night’s empties into a bin! Food was all excellent, moules , fish and chips, cheesecake , cheeseboard. All served promptly. All in all a very nice lunch for my wife’s Birthday!!!! Thoroughly recommend. Thank You.

Superb service and food. Highly recommend.

We had a very jolly evening, with charming staff and interesting food. One tiny thing. Bread for four people comprised three slices. Perhaps cut them thinner, into four pieces maybe? Just a thought....

Three of us enjoyed dinner on a Thursday evening. We did not have starters but had fillet steak, chicken supreme and sausage ragu accompanied by a very good bottle of red wine. All three people chose sticky toffee pudding. The food was excellent, as was the service, and we will certainly return to this friendly, welcoming restaurant.

Second visit and the food was as good as the first Sunday Lunch! Brilliant service. Such a good find would certainly visit again and recommend.

Food was delicious and service excellent. We really enjoyed both our starters and mains. A shame there were not more tables occupied.

Our 3rd visit . this was to celebrate having moved to Wells a year ago. We think is the best place in Wells to eat out. We had a lovely meal , my husband started with the mussels which he loved but as the portion was big he run out of steam with his truffled chicken main course, he did enjoy it though. I had the Chalk stream trout for starter which was lovely followed by the best fillet steak I have had for years. I managed to squeeze in a dessert of passion fruit posset which was lovely. This is a lovely restaurant with sweet staff , we will be coming again.

Lovely venue and very friendly staff. Most importantly the food was excellent apart from the ice cream which we were told was Carte D'or. Not up to standard of the rest of the food, although very fairly priced. Would not hesitate to go again

We have been to the Olive Tree since it first opened and we always visit at least once a year when we are at Cheddar Woods The food is always excellent and never disappoints
