We had a delicious meal at the Olive Tree. Really welcoming and friendly staff and the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere. Timing of the courses was perfect, the chef was extremely good and it was a great experience. We will definitely be returning. A new favourite restaurant for us!

Only criticism is there wasn’t really enough food on the plate , and we had ordered extra cauliflower cheese , having said that I’d still go back but when I was less hungry perhaps.

We had a pre-dinner drink in the outside courtyard then ate a delicious meal in the main restaurant which was full but didn’t feel at all crowded. We will undoubtedly return when we are next in this part of Somerset.

Very good to see the (very pleasant) owner involving herself directly. Friendly and attentive service from all the staff. A brilliant evening and not expensive for the experience we had. Very happy to recommend.

The Olive Tree Restaurant – WellsI treated my sister and brother-in-law to a meal at the Olive Tree and I must say the food was excellent, particularly the first courses. My chicken breast with squash emulsion was perfection - simply delicious and they both thoroughly enjoyed their seared seabass fillet, prawn and fennel orzo. The puddings were good too, though a little on the sweet side. They both had Eton Mess and I had the creme brulee. My Dutch brother-in-law who is normally very critical of British food had to actually admit that this meal was superb.

A lovely setting and smart, polite staff, although they (the staff) were a little chaotic and occasionally left plates uncleared and glasses unfilled rather longer than you would expect in a place this expensive and otherwise classy.

The service was good and the food was okay but not outstanding as all the root vegetables seemed to have been frozen ones and then roasted so either not really roasted or like the roast potatoes - bullets However, the burrata starter was very good with the watermelon, so perhaps it's just the Sunday lunch combo which was probably a short cut for time. It was an extremely hot day so hats off to anyone in the catering trade to be honest!
