Arrived a bit early. Very cold and no one else seated.1st opinion on walking in was are we in the right place. Chairs and decor very scruffy. The bbq tasted good but way over priced .we only had water as we could see how much it was going to cost.the bbq for consists of a bowl of cos lettuce, 2 small dishes of meat and a trio of dips. That cost £19 ....seriously. we had to order extra rice ,meat and lettuce at extra cost.for 4 people it was just shy of £100 never again.

The best dim sum I've had in a while. We visited on a Sunday afternoon when it wasn't too busy and the place started filling up with dinner guests and families out celebrating birthdays and special occasions. It didn't feel crowded as the tables were well spaced. Staff were helpful and attentive although the temperature check on entry was unannounced and felt quite abrupt. We had char siu buns, which were larger than usual, fluffy with just the right amount of filling. Wu Kok was sensational - light crispy batter with a filling that actually tasted of yam. Har Goy was plump with a nice crunch to the prawn filling - best eaten steaming hot. A dish of house special crispy noodle was generous with a variety of meat and veg and not too salty. The salted duck egg and custard bun came with the rest of the dim sum but was cold by the time we got to it - but probably just as well, as the filling would have scalded earlier. Will definitely come again!

Brought my family here for my Dad's birthday and we could not have enjoyed it more. The staff were so friendly and really helpful (we didn't know what to order!) and the food was delicious. Little Milo was a highlight of the evening too!

My wife and I enjoyed an evening at Maxi’s Chinese restaurant. We were made welcome on arrival and shown to our table, The restaurant is authentic looking with a calm and relaxing atmosphere! The food was very enjoyable, large portions, well cooked and had great flavours. Incredible place, incredible food, and incredible staff. Honestly can’t recommend this place enough and will always be my go to recommendation for anyone looking for somewhere in York for whatever occasion.

Had a fantastic time at Oshibi. Service impeccable from firstly booking to helping my wife and myself with what to choose from the menu (it was our first Korean dining experience) A gem of a restaurant in a beautiful part of York. The bibimbap was a firm favourite and went beautifully with the BBQ. We plan to return soon. I would highly recommend Oshibi.

Relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and great food

Had fantastic meal service excellent

Visited Maxis on the night of their anniversary (22 years), visited several times before and always a fantastic atmosphere. Staff always smiling and can’t do enough for people. Temperatures still taken at the door despite most places now no longer bothering with Covid restrictions. Food was as fabulous as always. Would recommend the special banquet, fabulous selection of food and they are always happy to box up any leftovers. (Which is every time so far for us). Even given a lollipop as we left despite me being in my 50s!

We hadn't been for a while, so had two table bbq portions with bulgogi beef, chicken, spicy pork and seafood. Also some kfc (korean fried chicken) which you can't miss, and rice. It was all fab, fun and delicious. The dessert pancake and milk ice dessert were an adventure and delicious. Really pleased that Oshibi has survived the worst of covid economics. Go and eat there - its fantastic, local and a real gem.

Our server was very knowledgeable and welcoming. The menu and food were both brilliant. My only constructive criticism would be for the decor to be a little more inviting which is not a dealbreaker. I had a pleasant experience here and would definitely return.
