The best Indian in York, and at a really good price. Try not to go at peak times, because the clientele can be rowdy. Well worth a visit!!

Saffron Desi – YorkJust moved to york, and we are gradually trying to find the best restaurants. Bobo's stands out! I was expecting an overpriced and overated meal, however when we received our food I was surprised by the sheer size of the dishes, huge. And the quality was great. Twinned with a cocktail, one of the best places to eat in York.
BoBo LoBo – YorkVery good service in a classic York Indian restaurant near to the Kings Arms pub. A good selection of side dishes and main courses mean that there is something for everyone that loves Indian food. The bill at the end of the meal is also extremely reasonable. We go from my workplace at least once a month...heartily recommended!
Kings Ransom – YorkToto's is what Italian restaurants should be like. OK the chains do a good, slick job and their staff are trained well, but there is such a warm, family welcome when you go to Toto's that the difference is immediately evident. No amount of training can achieve that. The food at Toto's is really excellent and the service is flexible and obliging. They were quite happy to bring a bottle of (excellent) wine and some olives and bread for us to nibble whilst we took our time browsing the menu and the specials board. The decor is a warm, traditional 'bistro' style - a welcome change from the wood and brushed stainless steel look that prevails today. It was noticeable that among the many ornaments and items of interest around, we could see not a single speck of dust and the windows were sparkling. A good start! Judi eventually chose the sirloin with a Gorgonzola sauce whilst I had the pork fillet with Amoretto - delicious - as were the puddings! In fact so delicious that we cancelled a booking elsewhere for the following evening and managed to get the same table at Toto's instead! The following day, I tried the sirloin with Gorgonzola whilst Judi opted for a seafood pasta dish that she declared to be superb! I can certainly vouch for the steak! The service was unintrusive yet friendly and we felt that they were delighted to see us and would look forward to our return on our next visit to York - a happy illusion that made us determined to oblige one day! I think you can take it that we highly recommend Toto's Italian restaurant!
Totos – YorkSuperb Food set in an informal cosy atmosphere. The owners are younger than you would expect but they certainly know what they are doing! Well worth a drive.
Rose and Crown – YorkWe have been to MANY Indian Restaurants but this, I can very happily say is the best by far. It was very busy when we went but we were still astounded by the level of service we had received. We were wooed by the massive Nan breads which arrive on a hook and the food we ate was outstanding. We came across this place by chance as we were in york for our anniversary and after travelling from Cardiff this was the closest and best looking place to our hotel - lucky us !!
Saffron Desi – YorkBeautiful food, some of the best Thai I have eaten. It was particularly pleasing to see a wide range of vegetarian on offer, as all too often restaurants are so lazy in this regard. The only (minor) criticism is that we felt the tables were too close together, but that did not spoil a lovely evening with great food and wine list.
Sangthai Restaurant – YorkWe had a great meal for our wedding anniversary, which made it very special. We both had steak. It was the best I've had!!!!!The atmosphere was buzzing and Kenny was great fun. The other staff were friendly. A lovely restaurant and reasonably priced for food of such a high standard!!
Ate O Clock – YorkHated this place - was greeted by surly staff who told us to wait while they figgled with computer- restaurant was empty, but seated under air conditioner, menu slapped down on table and left without offer of drinks. Decided to leave without ordering. The bar was full of teenage girls tanking up for what looked like a big night out. Don't go there if you want a quiet evening, there are better restaurants just up the road D.Taylor
Missoula – YorkThe restaurant is actually located in Selby, not York. So there is a mis-print here. They have a new canopy put up on there entrance, it looks very welcoming. We have been many times and the food has always been very good. I really recommend this place.
China Palace Restaurant – YorkMy friend and I had dinner middle of last week. Nicely decorated, enough people even mid-week to generate some atmosphere and lovely food. The massaman curry I had was divine, as was the coconut rice. My friend's BBQ chicken was not quite what we expected, being a more delicate flavour, but quite yummy all the same. The portion of noodles was enough for two or three healthy appetites. Great venue, food and service. Staff were pleasant, friendly and happy to help with any questions about the food, too. A very pleasant dining experience.
Thida Thai Cuisine – YorkI visited for the first time, 4 weeks ago with a group of eight. We had a warm welcome, and the table was of a comfortable size. The food was good but pricey the service was rigid all nice girls but reading from a script, nothing natural, struggled to smile. As a party we enjoyed ourselves and went home with a smile.
Blue Bicycle – YorkMy husband and I have been going to Maxis in York since it opened and prior to that, since 1990 in Leeds. We go at least once a month and have never had a bad meal. In fact, the food is consistently excellent. Truly delicious cantonese cuisine, with a separate cantonese menu for experts. The service is very good, the food coming quite quickly after being ordered. A must for those who love chinese and cantonese food.
Maxis – YorkWell known for a very long time in York, it was one of the first restaurants to provide high quality, consistently good food. The menu is largely fish, so if you're not a fan, there is not a lot of choice. Food quality is excellent and the food is very good. However, I don't think that the food was as good as the cost. A good cook at home could probably produce similar results. I must mention that the portions are huge, and even the largest of appetites will be more than satisfied. The langoustines were particularly delicious. There are more imaginative, creative menus in York. Good food, but not worth the huge bill at the end.
Blue Bicycle – YorkI have now been a number of times following a recommendation. Other than the excellent food the big thing for me was the children's menu: they basically give them small versions of the full menu at a reasonable cost. It's one of the best restaurants in York and my daughter loves it.
Ate O Clock – YorkWe have been going to Bari now for 3 years...and everytime we have a brilliant meal. There are so many Italian restaurants in York but we pick Bari everytime! We recommend booking as it can get very busy! Great atmosphere! Great food!
Bari – YorkThis pub has been going from strength to strength for a while now, one of the best real pubs in Leeds. Food is alway good quality and a lovely friendly atmosphere, easy going, genuinely friendly staff, no put on smiles here they oose friendliness. As if they have known you for a while rather than just met you. Very impressed.
Abbey Inn – YorkFantastic describes this restaurant. The young staff were very welcoming and service delightful in the full restaurant. We had an outstanding meal and everything was beautifully presented. The chef came out from the kitchen to ensure all the customers were happy with their choice of food and the dining experience was one of the highlights of our few days holiday in York. Dont miss it, but do book a table, they could not accommodate us on the Tuesday evening when we went the first time
