Quality of chicken is poor again! I love Maxis, been going there for 20 years but since reopening after lockdown the quality has been questionable. I thought it was back to the usual standards but last weekend we went again and any dish with chicken is just unacceptable quality.

Perfect, again, as always! Wonderful selection, lovely ambiance and staff, divine meals, and all whilst having to cater to almost all allergies possible! ❤️

Had a lovely evening at the restaurant, waiter was really friendly and great service. Food was cooked beautifully, menu was small but would have been happy to have any of the choices on the menu... All presented nicely... Nice glass of bubbly to celebrate 15 years of the restaurant being open, highly recommend

We had a delicious birthday meal at Maxi’s on Sunday 11th October. We have been customers at Maxi’s in Leeds and now York for 30 years now, and have never been disappointed. Food and service were both great, Covid precautions all taken, can’t wait to download the new loyalty app, see you soon Maxi’s.

Excellent quality Meal & service which was good value. In addition the staff ensured that all Covid restrictions were in place which made us feel especially safe whilst at the restaurant.

Definitely recommend dining at this restaurant, you will not be disappointed!! From being welcomed at the door to showing us to our table the service was incredible. The food is amazing full of flavour and the table service was great!!

Excellent meal, nice Atmosphere & nice people.

I have been a customer of Maxi's for many years and I was devastated when they closed at the beginning of the lockdown ! Our meal last week (family celebration) was excellent. As usual we ordered too much food but we always like to take some home to relive the experience again Always my favourite restaurant -the best Chinese food for miles with such good service too.

A lovely family meal with our children 11 and 12. We had the banquet. We all loved it. Great food. Good Service. Tables well spaced and felt Covid safe. During October 2020 the banquet is reduced to celebrate their 21st birthday. Fantastic value. Great time to go. Booked table online through website.

Truly enjoyable evening. Food was really wonderful, service attentive, polite and kind. Very Covid friendly. We have already recommended to friends.

This was our third visit to 31 Castlegate in the past three years - we incorporate it into our annual pilgrimage to York. Service and food were both excellent as always- the venison and lamb were both delicious. Just a pity more people do not appreciate what a little gem this is as it was quite quiet when we visited on a Sunday evening.

Really lovely meal! And efficient, friendly service too. Only small criticism being that I was asked about a face covering which as an exempt person made me uncomfortable (the legislation makes clear that signage is enough) but the staff member was friendly and kind. If Covid security is a concern for you you’ll have no worries here. The restaurant is immaculate and tables are well spaced out.

Great food, although fairly pricey. Temp taken on arrival for safety of all. Unfortunately it Lacked atmosphere as it was very quiet. Only 1 table of 4 were dining when we left at 8.30pm. Shame really but expected in these strange times. Would recommend as a special treat due to price. Staff very pleasant and attentive.
