It was so great to be back at Maxis, York on August 8th. COVID-19 precautions were all in place - temperature and track and trace details taken, plenty of space between diners and all staff wearing PPE. Our meal was delicious as usual and staff as friendly as ever. Well worth the drive from Leeds. See you again soon Maxis.

Food good as usual, staff were following COVID-19 guidance and all wearing masks. Waiting staff often unfriendly but efficient. The hostess was wearing a Chinese dress that’s very short. When she leaned over to assist the next table, I could nearly see her pants. I would have thought the food is nice enough they shouldn’t resort to objectifying young women in this way??

Efficient booking system, chose this restaurant for interesting vegan menu! Excellent food, very good portions, flexible with menu options as wanted to change one of the mains from vegan menu to a vegetarian main from normal set menu! Mains were served nice and hot! Very good service , friendly and efficient. Good ambience , tasteful decor in a converted old building . Very good value and highly recommend this restaurant especially if you are vegan/ vegetarian!

We had missed Maxis so much due to the present Covid situation. However we returned on August 7 th, after booking online. It is all very well organised, temperature taken on entry, staff all very pleasant and helpful. Tables all spaced out. Staff all wearing masks. We felt very comfortable and at ease. The food was as we expected, delicious, so to those people out there that are nervous about venturing out for the first time, go for a meal at Maxis Nether Poppelton, York. Also, Track and Trace is in place. Good luck Maxis, see you again soon.

Went for a birthday meal. I’ve only been to the Leeds restaurant so the first time here. Food is still good as ever like the last time I got it. Service was a little slow but nothing major. Be coming back soon

My wife and I had an excellent meal at 31 Castlegate. We were very well looked after and made to feel very welcome. We felt very safe in the restaurant. The food was delicious and special, and we really enjoyed the experience of eating out again. This was the first time we had eaten out since March.

We were visitors to York for one night. York seems to have plenty of cafes for cake & coffee but we wanted a lovely evening meal for our first night away after lock down . Didnt want to risk finding one by chance on a Friday night so booked Castlegate. Good welcome,menu & food. Tables well spaced. Enjoyed our evening, would return.

We had our first post lockdown meal here Wednesday evening & it was well worth waiting for, we did eat fairly early in the evening so had the restaurant to ourselves for a while. The food was delicious & we managed to cram in a dessert too even though we were pretty full! The service was excellent too, we will be back very soon.

We arrived at Maxis having made a booking on line ,and recieving a email reminder days later , only to find they had no knowledge of the booking ! The service is slow ,but the food is good.

Arrived to find our internet booking wasnt observed by restaurant . They did have a spare table thankfully because we had arranged a family get together. Service achingly slow, we had to get staffs attention alot to keep the meal moving. Food good.. Decor tired ...But good value for money

We booked a table but when we arrived they had no booking on the list. Service was very slow, other tables were getting served before us even though we were seated before them. We asked 3 times to take our order and then had to ask again were our food was twice. Food was lovely just a shame service was shocking!
