The Old Ship – Lee On The SolentA gem of a pub with good sized portions of food. Good selection of real ale. Friendly bar staff and good service.
George Inn – PortsmouthTheir food is ok but it is not quite up to my expectation. I don't mind paying more for excellent food but this is definitely not the special one. Their service could put you off as they could be quite rude and intrusive maybe that they are in the prime business location where there is a lot of passing trades. So why should they worry about repeated custom.
Ocean Dragon – SouthamptonWhy?,when you find a good take away they mess(to be polite) it up!...Ordered food tonight. They got a dish wrong. They offered to bring meat to go in dish if I paid?!.After negotiation a meat was coming no charge..It came with an even hotter sauce!.I phoned and complained they laughed at me!!!!.I told them the rest of the meal was great, but the dish being hotter was not on.I offered for them to try different dishes but they weren't interested..Well saving sauces, lets see what the paper reviewers have to say!.
Cinnamon Indian Restaurant – WaterloovilleKerelai food is the best Indian food we have had outside of India. Really delicious selection of dishes for our vegan, vegetarian and meat eating family! Friendly service, good price and fab food. Haven't found such authentic taste anywhere else in the uk.
Kairali South Indian – SouthamptonTry the daily buffet (12 - 2, including Sunday). It's the best value at 7.95 around this region and the staff (especially Kamal if he's there) can't do enough for you. The a la carte menu is Keralan (southern Indian) and quite different from your run-of -the-mill Indian restaurant. Try also the sister restaurant in Burgess Road Southampton, 2 mins from Southampton University main campus - mosala dosa, an exquisite rice pancake with gorgeous veg filling (suitable for veggies and probably vegans too).
Namaste Kerala – SouthamptonMy favourite restaurant of all time! Being Vegan, choice is usually extremely limited if I attempt to eat out. I love the Kairali menu, with 'non-vegetarian dishes' taking second place in the menu to 'Vegetarian dishes'! And about half the menu is available for me to choose from. The food is delicious and very good value for money. I have introduced many friends (even the omnivorous ones) to the delights of Kairali and everyone loves the food.
Kairali South Indian – Southamptonrelight my fire, its the best
India Cottage – RingwoodA welcoming atmosphere, good food and congenial staff makes this a favorite place to come, whether for evening meals, or lunch.
The Toby Carvery – SouthamptonSUPERB SUPERB SUPERB - not the cheapest place, but like anything in life you get what you pay for! Fantastic menu - WE means West meets East - so dishes are westernised in as much as you are not eating anything you've never heard of. Quality is outstanding, as is service and ambiance. A huge restaurant beautifully styled - unlike most Asian restaurants, there is loads of room between the tables. Fantastic choice of Indian or Thai food. F1RST CLASS!
WE The Restaurant – FleetAn excellent pub, with, by prior arrangement, excellent food for a party of about 30 persons. A friendly group of locals & a landlady who "pulled the stops out" for our party, & made us really welcome. The food was, for all our party, very good, & we have no hesitation in recommending The Five Bells !
The Five Bells – WinchesterI went there for a romantic meal and was slightly nervous as I approached the building, on walking in all was forgiven. It is fun, relaxed and respectable in one breath. Staff were delightful and the food even better. Oh for more romantic evenings
The Black Rat Restaurant – WinchesterMy wife and I (and about ten thousand other people with good taste) have been going to this restaurant for several years. This is Keralan, i.e. Indian cooking with a difference. Go just for the Mosala Dosai (rice pancake with veg filling and coconut sauce) - the only place outside London we've found it. Many vegetarian and some vegan dishes. Friendly service too from proprietors Kamal or Sagen and great food from Munir the chef. Go early or book in advance.
Kairali South Indian – SouthamptonIn The Coach House Carvery, Gosport, I was astounded to be refused a glass of tap water and asked to pay £1.00 for a bottle of water. It was only when I asked for the manager and said I needed it to take medication that I was brought half a glass of water. I eat out regularly and never before has providing tap water been a problem. Disposal of water bottles is a growing problem and drinking tap water, quite safe, should be encouraged.
The Coach House Carvery – Lee On The SolentThe Dairyman's Daughter offer a very good day time menu and lunch time specials. They also have a very good evening menu & sumptuos specials board menu, which my husband and me often try. There is an array of home made sweets also available, that taste excellent. We always enjoy our meals at this establishment.
The Dairyman’s Daughter – Isle of WightWhat a great “local” pub! I visited it last night, after some time. A new manager arrived a couple of months ago & what a turn around! It’s very clean, the staff are friendly and efficient, the beer and the food is good and the prices are about what you would expect nowadays. There is a very large child friendly garden and good sized car park. They have pool teams and are starting a poker night. They also have special Curry Nights. Well worth a visit!!!
The Chestnut Tree – AndoverVery nice place for lunch or dinner with an original menu. The staff were very friendly and the food was food of flavour. This is an old converted pub and has its own quirky character. We liked that we were not rushed and the staff had time to explain the menu and suggest some good wine
The Black Rat Restaurant – WinchesterAlways superb food and service. The lunch menu is varied and affordable. The location is superb. Full marks.
