The opening of Grado restaurant and tapas bar in Piccadilly marks Paul Heathcote's first venture into Spanish cuisine. The focus is on new wave and regional Spanish cooking and the menu choices are both inventive and enticing. There's an all-day tapas menu as well as the main lunch and dinner menu which includes a different Spanish roast from the charcoal oven every day. The all-Spanish wine list stretches to 100 bins with 16 available by the glass. Chefs working from an open kitchen help give this smart and stylish new venue a real buzzy atmosphere. Since opening in 1993, the award-winning Indian Ocean in Ashton-under-Lyne has made its mark as one of the region's top Indian dining experiences. It's a modern, bright and spacious venue with a main restaurant that seats 110, but also can cater for up to 40 private diners in the VIP Aslam Suite. It also has a bar and entertainment area with live music and DJs at weekends plus a full outside catering and takeaway service. The menu is extensive, and in addition to the standard Indian dishes offers a range of Kashmiri and Punjabi delicacies. The London Road Restaurant & Wine Bar is one of the latest additions to northwest chef Paul Heathcote's growing culinary empire, which encompasses the Simply Heathcotes and Olive Press brands. This new venture in Alderley Edge spreads over three floors and includes a restaurant, wine bar, private dining facility and retail outlet. It's a smart, modern venue with an a la carte menu offering classic British and French cuisine. The choice ranges from Heathcote's classic bread and butter pudding to more exotic choices such as seafood platters and Frito Misto. There is also a kids' menu, a small plates menu and a traditional Sunday lunch. The wine list is extensive, stretching to 250 bins, 20 of them available by the glass, with a sommelier on hand to offer advice.
