Ye Olde Inn – HaverfordwestThe front of house staff were attentive but the kitchen staff are lacking. One person at our table ordered the chef special chicken in a spicy mince sauce....there was no mince. They bulked up all the dishes with large chunks of onion so 1/2 of the dish was lamb, chicken or whatever meat ordered and the other 1/2 was onion. Finally all of the sauces were bog standard from a jar. The chef messed up other orders as well not cooking what was ordered.
Raj of India – CaerphillyLove it!!! We went there with a group of of 7 friends on a short notice, they were very accommodating. The food is excellent. The ambiance is cozy and warm. Definitely will go back there again, highly recommended.
Ichiban – CardiffOut of this world... just a friendly and lively atmosphere. A must place to visit, food out of this world I tried the Broschette Special cooked to perfection, it has to be the best restaurant I have been to in the UK. Try out the cookery school I attended last month with Franco Taruschio a brilliant gift.
La Trattoria – PontyclunThis is the best restaurant around this area by a far margin. The food is superb along with the outstanding service.
Mouchak – PorthAte there last night. What a great meal! There was lots of choice and everything looked delicious so it took me a while to decide, I had the oriental duck which was really tasty and cooked well. My partner had the Fillet steak which i did try and was also delicious. Service was very good and the staff responded quickly to any needs that you had. Can't wait to go there again and try something else!!
Market Place – CowbridgeDo not go anywhere near this place
Tafarn Sinc Preseli – HaverfordwestTried the pub just after the new owners had arrived. No credit card facility at the time. Staff very friendly and got the impression it was "all hands to the pumps" but did everything to please us. Good beer, food and will be a very good pub when renovations are complete in the bar area. Good luck!
Alpha Inn, The – WhitlandThursday night Curry night really good value excellent food good atmosphere a family run pub/restaurant, brilliant pint will definitely be going back again!
KTs Wine Bar – Ebbw ValeGood food & real beers, competitive prices with friendly family atmosphere.
White Hart Inn – CaerphillyHave been to this pub many times with my parents-in-law. Very good food, good service and the staff are all very friendly. Would highly recommend it to anyone. Need to get there on the early side for lunch as the car park is not very big!
Rising Sun Inn – PontypoolHow can I recommend a restaurant that trades on its "reputation" yet treats its customers with cool contempt? Althouh we had pre-booked we were shoved away out of sight out of mind in a draughty end room. We probably had the "b" team as it was lunch-time (Aug 17th) but what hard work it was extracting a wine list, the correct cutlery, even obtaining the correct order! To be fair - my sea- food pasta was wonderful but my wife's crab salad was a deplorable mess. Part thawed crab meat (still thawing water into the salad) badly dressed meat ( full of shell ) and tired salad leaves. I had a terrible experience here about three years ago so thought "it must have improved" by now recommended it to friends ( they paid so I couldn't complain). Well it hasn't improved- its a horrid place where "attitude" rules.
Old Pharmacy Restaurant, The – HaverfordwestMy partner and I have been to this friendly little place three times and ate there twice. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals and desserts, very very good. The Whistle Inn was recommended to us by our biker friend - Dai Food:-> need I say more? Lol. We have been warned, however, NOT to order the full grill - Rosies grill I think, as not even the mighty god of food could finish it!!!! But if your hungry, hey - I'd say go for it and fill your boots, but don't have breakfast that day - or the week prior too come to think of it !! Lol. Great place excellent atmosphere!! Brill. Lovely scenery and love the sheep too :-> Will be going back lots. Yum. :->
The Whistle Inn – Pontypoolmy family and i enjoyed a lovely cosy evening at the Lifeboat Tavern. The meal was excellent ,pub food at it's best. The Burritos are to die for.Lovely beer garden at the back, but get there early for inside table. We visited last year, and we will certainly visit again next year.
Lifeboat Tavern, The – TenbyMy husband and I had a meal here while visiting Chepstow from Canada. I have eaten Greek food many times on Toronto's Danforth Avenue, as well as in Greece, and the flavour and quality of the food served at Mythos rates right up there with both places. I was surprised to find such a beautiful venue outside of a big city. The food and atmosphere are fabulous! If I ever find myself in that part of the world again, I will definitely return for another meal!
Mythos Restaurant – ChepstowMy advice - don't go. My mother and I went for Sunday lunch there today. I requested additional gravy when our order was taken. When our food arrived the extra gravy didn't. So, I put the gravy onto our dinners and requested another gravy boat. When the gravy was brought it was barely half full. Halfway through the meal my mother's dinner was dry, so I requested more gravy. We were told that we'd have to wait until the whole restaurant had been served to see if there was any left. Half an hour later my mother reminded the waitress: they brought the gravy out in a small dish. Needless to say we won't be going there again. The waitresses made us feel as if we were being greedy by asking for more gravy. The dinner came to £12.90 for the two of us. I don't think it unreasonable to have more gravy at these prices!
Green Acre Hotel – BridgendWe visited the Rifleman's Arms about 2 weeks ago. Lovely building with a nice cozy restaurant, we were given menu's and were totally shocked at the prices! The dishes were unexciting and something you could find at your local Harvester. I wish we had chosen the Harvester because the prices are a fraction of the price for the same quality of food. The waitress was very unattentive and rushed. The choice of desserts were also un-imaginitive - all mostly ice creams! We won't be visiting again because if we wanted this standard of food then Harvester is only 5 minutes away! Shape up guys! & Lower the prices!
Riflemans Arms – PontypoolThis pub is advertised on the Internet as the 'Best pub in Wales'...however, I beg to differ...the food was possibly THE WORST I have ever tasted, my chicken kiev was overcooked and completely dry with no garlic sauce in it at all, my wife had the chicken chasseur and quite frankly she had tasted better from homepride, the chips we were served up were obviously McCain crinkle cut...so much for home made as was advertised..The vegetables were not cooked properly and the landlady was incredibly rude and abrupt and maybe needs to attend a course on people skills as at the moment this appears to be lacking. The most annoying factor about this pub (you cannot seriously call it a restaurant!!!) is that if you want to order beers with your food, you have to pay for them with cash only as they can't be added on the food bill (which you have to pay for before you sit down to eat I may add!!!). All in all, extremely disappointing, the only positive thing about the pub is that it looks absolutely beautiful....apart from that...this pub is to be avoided!!!!!
