Lovely meal, pleasant and attentive staff. The fact that our table was wedged cheek by jowl between two others at the front of the room was a bit uncomfortable. We might as well all have been sitting at the same table! No chance for private conversation.

La Mezzaluna – CarlisleWent here for a birthday meal, service was not good. We waited 25 minutes to even order our food and then didn’t receive our mains for another hour. We then had to wait ages for our bill to be given to us, at which point we had to go up to the bar ourselves, which would have been fine if we weren’t told to wait and our waiter would bring us it. Food was okay, my boyfriend enjoyed his pheasant, but the Cumberland sausage was overcooked. Disappointed as this place was highly recommended to us.

Pheasant Inn – KeswickThe starter was lovely but the mains a little bit of a let down, it felt like trying to be something its not, well not yet. Service was good along with atmosphere. Just need a tweak on food. At the moment not good enough for us to go back.

La Mezzaluna – CarlisleBeen here a couple of times and were in the Lakes for our 60th birthdays. Had an amazing meal and the staff are so friendly. I would definitely recommend and would definitely go back. We had French onion soup for starters and rack of lamb followed by cheese cake . Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereA very good meal, tasty, well cooked and well presented. Minor point was a little too much salt in the creamy mash for my palate. Atmosphere is pleasant but touch Spartan. However, excellent value and we will return.

Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithSorry. Am a good cook myself. My chicken was reasonable. The belly pork meal pretty awful. Staff did their best. Very pushed due to lack of help. Didnt think the quality merited the price paid. As an aside. The broccoli wasnt cooked at all and couldnt cut it. No offence to anyone. They were busy and pleasant.
The Wheatsheaf Inn – KendalI had cod fish and found it to be overcooked and dry. We were also put in the conservatory part of the restaurant which both my husband and I felt there was no atmosphere and rather chilly. In other words we were ‘out on a limb’ with service rather slow.
