Fabulous home cooked Sunday lunch and proper puddings. Couldn’t fault it!

We had a lovely meal at the Queens Head on Saturday night. The pub is cosy and welcoming with a roaring log fire. The staff were very pleasant and the food was delicious. Good choices for veggies, we had leek and potato pie followed by apple crumble. We enjoyed every mouthful. Would definitely recommend.

Very pleasant evening meal. Hearty food. Ideal after a weekend running the Lakeland Trails. Friendly, sociable atmosphere as the pub was packed with happy diners in warm, comfortable surroundings. Enjoyed the Fish Pie, although it was a tough choice as I also fancied the Venison Bourguignon. Apple and Gooseberry Crumble was lovely. Good selection of Ales, particularly enjoyed the Pheasant Ale. Will return.

We came here for my big sister's birthday lunch. We were a bit disappointed to find very little for vegans on the menu, but honestly the staff couldn't do enough for us. They were absolutely amazing - so attentive and kind. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service could not be bettered. Thankyou folk, great job!

Lovely welcome, great service interesting decor but….. The soup was fine The battered fish special was skin on ( no warning on the menu) The crumble was solid and soggy with little fruit The coffee was fine Good range of non Alcoholic beers The cost would have been fine if the food had been better.

We had a wonderful meal at this warm and welcoming pub on Wednesday night. The staff were very attentive, the atmosphere was cosy and the menu had a good choice of food. The meal was superb and I especially enjoyed the Balmoral Chicken. Great find.

Really good food and a warm friendly atmosphere. If we lived locally it would be our go to pub.

Four of us were celebrating a friend’s birthday on 8 October. The food we had was good but it was disappointing that they had run out of the mushroom starter, roast potatoes and Bakewell tart. We were told this was because it was the end of their week! No opportunity for coffee - we were just presented with the bill. It was all a bit rushed. Suggest Saturday night is avoided.

Food was amazing my husband had the Haggis l had the Place. Generous portions and all freshly made. Be back soon.

I came here with my partner on 13th October, booked at 7pm. We had been staying in Grasmere for a few days' break, and our experience had been a little up and down to this point, but choosing Lewis's for our meal on the last night was the best decision. We found the restaurant welcoming, the service efficient and the food absolutely faultless; I had the Lamb Rack and my partner had the Chicken, both top quality and cooked to perfection. The desserts did not disappoint either, Cheesecake for my partner and Affogato for myself, both heavenly. I have read some reviews which have been critical of both the service (rushed) and the menu choice (somewhat limited), but these smaller establishments can really hit the mark; they have not overwhelmed themselves with dozens of menu dishes that they cannot possibly maintain quality over, and speaking personally, we did not feel rushed at all, the service was attentive and it was also efficient, and we had a thoroughly enjoyable meal. Perhaps this may not be the ideal venue if you like to make the business of eating into a ritual that lasts all evening, but everything felt just right for us. Would definitely choose to eat here on our next visit, and would not hesitate to recommend.

Lovely friendly pub, good food, good atmosphere. Good value for money too. Totally recommend.

We had a table of 4 on Friday night, candle lit dining room lovely staff and great smells from the kitchen we knew this would be a lovely evening. All food served from our pre chosen menu was absolutely delicious, especially the cheese soufflé was on a different level! We all had a wonderful evening, last to leave it was so relaxing. Will definitely come back again.

Absolutely cannot recommend the pheasant highly enough, warm cosy atmosphere very friendly and accommodating ,even giving our dog a dog treat.The service was very attentive ,the food was home cooked and piping hot ,I had the fish pie which was amazing and my husband the steak pie which he loved complete with chips and veg, loved it thank you will be back when we visit Keswick again

We were on holiday at the local Whinfell Forest Center Parcs and came to Grants for a birthday meal. We had an amazing time. The menu was lovely and we can highly recommend the fillet steak, cooked to perfection. With two children in our party, we were delighted to hear that there were child friendly meals such as sausages, southern fried chicken, etc. But going the extra mile, they offered to do a smaller portion of anything on the main menu for the children too. Overall, fantastic service, lovely food and very reasonably priced for such high quality. We will definitely return when we’re back in the area.
