Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithOur second visit here and this time we stayed for two nights and ate in the Music Room on both evenings. The food is excellent and the dishes we ordered were a great combination of local ingredients, perfectly cooked with the added bonus of a great bunch of warm and welcoming staff. A perfect place to have dinner.
The Music Room Restaurant at Augill Castle – Kirkby StephenOn arrival, the pub was very busy and there was lots of hustle & bustle. We told the barman we had a table booked & he asked us to wait & went off to check. We then saw chairs being carried from the main bar area to a side room. A few minutes later we were told to follow him to our table. Which, on reflection, we think was hastily set up. Against a door in a side room with not much space to move. Menus were put in front of us the the drink order was taken. Drinks were brought to us, and then a few minutes later, someone came to ask if we were ready to order our food. I said I would start with , were I was interrupted and told that starters weren't being served & had no one told us. Well obviously not! In the same room their was five young boys and because of the close proximity we could hear them swearing all the time they were chatting. Although the food was really good were we were disappointed about the seating and not being informed there was no starters available.

The Netherwood Hotel and Spa – Grange-over-SandsHad lunch after using the spa on 10th January. The weather was cold and wet but the only 3 main courses available were all cold dishes; ploughmans lunch, caesar salad with chicken and one other. On a winters day it really would have been nice to have at least one hot dish choice.
The Netherwood Hotel and Spa – Grange-over-SandsExcellent food and service, as for our visits before the lockdowns. The Sunday roasts were a real treat.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickYou will not find a better roast dinner anywhere. Faultless. Staff also very welcoming and professional.
