Priory Hotel – CartmelEnjoyed a lovely lunch at Skitby House. What an unexpected surprise the place was. Cafe, wedding venue, shop all with a very pretty look. The food was very good.
Skitby House – Carlislelovely little cafe in a very quaint spot!
The Eden Gallery Tea Rooms – PenrithRobinsons have done a cracking job on refurbing this pub. It looks great and immaculate. food and beer to match!
Hope and Anchor – Grange-over-SandsSimply the best pub restaurant in the area. Fantastic real ales, beautiful food and good craic all in lovely surroundings within the village of Wreay, home of St Mary’s Church
The Plough Inn – CarlisleA great village pub. I stayed here when in Dent for the weekend. The room was nice, the food was good and their beer was excellent. They own Dent Brewery up the road. Right in the heart of this historic village. We did a great 10 mile walk from the door up Yorkshires highest peak Whernside. They take dogs too which was a bonus.
George and Dragon – SedberghReally love pubs like this. Like stepping back in time. A proper historical Cumbrian pub. Great beer, food and atmosphere. We ate 2 days on the trot. The Village of Dent is just like the pub, its cobbled street leads to its door!
Sun Inn – SedberghDropped in here after a windblown walk on the fells above nearby Patterdale. It’s got the feel of a lodge in the Canadian Rockies with a huge panorama window making the most of the view and a barn-type interior. Only had a couple of drinks and sandwiches but the service was friendly and the food good. I think they have bedrooms here too and a campsite close by.
Brotherswater Inn @ Sykeside Camping Park – PenrithGorgeous little pub in Levens. Rustic yet modern. Rooms, pub and an atrium restaurant. Only had a light lunch but it was lick the plate tackle (I didn't). A great place to stay too.
Hare and Hounds – Kendalgorgeous pub with rooms. Had a great lunch by the fire in England's prettiest village!
Cavendish Arms – CartmelBest food in Ulverston from our own celebrity chef!
Craig’s Kitchen at Virginia House – UlverstonInnovative Italian cooking in their new restaurant Stella and a beautifully refurbishment. This has to be one of the top addresses in the Lake District now.
Henrock @ Linthwaite House Hotel – WindermereAll new Horse and Farrier! great spot right underneath Blencathra. Good food and accommodation.
Horse and Farrier Inn – KeswickHave often looked up at the Angel from the main street at Bowness but never quite made it up the hill. Big mistake! It offers something different from the other pubs, tearooms and restaurants in the town and judging by the crowd both outside and in on a miserable winter’s day, the word is out. I can imagine in summer it will be really busy with people enjoying the fab views out over the lake. Give it a try.
Angel Inn – WindermereWe were looking for a late evening, last minute Italian in Bowness and boy did this hit the spot. Prompt service, great pizza, good value and a nice atmosphere even though it was the end of the night.
Rastellis Pizzeria – WindermereLovely lunch after a hike up Loughrigg direct from the front door of the hotel! Couldn't be in a better spot right by Rydal Water. I had a great spot in front of the fire with my wet dog!
Glen Rothay Hotel and Badger Bar – RydalWow what a place! Was a beautiful property before the current owners took over but no something else! No expense spared in any area of this hotel. Gorgeous art works throughout. I dined in the bar area and had the chicken cotoletta which was excellent. A guy on the next table said the accompanying mash was the best he'd ever tasted. Service was what you would expect from a place like this. Will return to dine in the main restaurant 'Stella' Great work team Linthwaite!
Henrock @ Linthwaite House Hotel – WindermereAbsolutely brilliant menu and food beautifully presented. Really pleasant and helpful staff. Would recommend to anybody.
