Britannia Inn – AmblesideGreat pub restaurant with rooms in Sedburgh. Taken over by a couple who ran restaurants in Manchester and have brought that contemporary city vibe to a country coaching Inn. Loved my Hereford Beef pie for lunch. Rooms are great with awesome bathrooms
The Black Bull – SedberghWe have just had a beautiful Sunday roast. Starters were full of flavour and well sized portions. Children’s menu again boasts a well sized portion, excellent quality and value for money. Much nicer than some of your “branded” pubs serving food. Excellent value and quality food! Thankyou for the lovely welcoming atmosphere! Beautifully decorated pub full of character and history
Crown Inn – PenrithExcellent place we stayed on the campsite and had everything we needed provided for us. The staff and owner were friendly helpful and welcoming. The food was amazing and brilliant portions. Highly recommend a visit
The Wheatsheaf Inn – CockermouthBooked in here tonight for a table of 7 people . The table was reserved but no cutlery ,condiments etc in place . We asked to set up a tab as we knew we would be having a few drinks ,food etc but were told that we had to pay as we ordered . After one drink they ran out of ice , the meal came after a lengthy wait ( only two other tables occupied ) the adults scampi of which we had ordered two of varied from 6 pieces of scampi to 9 pieces whereas the child’s scampi at1/2 the price had 5 pieces on it !!!!!! We had to ask for cutlery, salt, pepper and sauces . There were no beer mats, no glasses cleared despite the table being full , they then asked if we wanted puddings before they had cleared away plates . Definitely a real let down and will not be returning again
The Squirrel Inn – PenrithLove this place!. A great part of the lakes. lovely rooms and of course the badgers!!
Glen Rothay Hotel and Badger Bar – RydalAmazing place really enjoyed te food, service and atmosphere. Clearly the best place to eat in Windermere and Bowness
San Pietro – WindermereBad attitude all round. Walked in to be told we couldn't order food for 15 minutes. ordered 2 drinks, can we have a tab, only if you sit inside. You cant sit there its reserved. OK can we just order the food and pay and then it can come out whenever you are ready. no cant do that. None of the above was out of order just the arsey way it was delivered. So we paid for the 2 drinks and left, left them £60 shorter too.
Church House Inn – ConistonLovely old pub in the village of Broughton which I love. Food well presented and pretty good. Service was good but understaffed for the hot sunny day. The place is clearly making an effort.
Black Cock Inn – Broughton-in-FurnessI strongly recommend this place if you are after quality, hearty and tasty food. A foodie place but big portions and more artisan style. Real proper food!
Just Good Food – WindermereUnpretentious, great beer in the famous cowshed Hikers Bar, hearty simple yet quality food, lovely rooms with stunning views, very well priced., friendly staff who are nearly all their to climb some of the best rock faces in England and nearly all of the best walks in the Lakes literally from their door What’s not to love
Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel – AmblesideGreat spot and good food. Very friendly service too. My usual pit stop in Bowness!
Mio Mondo @ The Coffee Bean – WindermereMy son and I had a lovely meal in the Kings Head Broughton. It has new management with a wealth of experience. good luck to them
Old Kings Head – Broughton-in-FurnessAte here the other night on my birthday with my Mother, Father and Boyfriend. None of us had eaten here before but my Mother wanted to for a while after hearing good things and we were not disappointed! Walking in, the restaurant is small but cosy and quirky decor, the staff were incredibly welcoming and made effort to talk and joke with us whilst waiting for our food. The food was absolutely phenomenal. We all decided to get different starters and mains to try each others, and we could not decide what was the best! All the meat was cooked to perfection and all the different flavours in our food were incredible. Even the dessert (there's always room) was fantastic, we will definitely be going again when we are next in the Lake District and spreading the word of this amazing little restaurant!
Jumble Room – GrasmereBest eatery in Coniston. Great food, very friendly staff, unusually good parking for the village and gorgeous fell views!
Herdwicks Cafe – ConistonGorgeous old pub with stunning views over to Blencathra and the fells beyond. My lunch was lovely and portions huge. its near Penrith and on the way to Keswick and very near the M6 motorway so in a great spot!
The Clickham Inn – PenrithLovely tasty filling lunch in front of the fire at the Brackenrigg Inn. Posh homemade (including the bread) fish finger sandwich with a side salad and chips. Great views out over Ullswater and the snow peaked mountains behind. Will stay next time and try the beers from their own brewery!
Brackenrigg Inn – PenrithGreat little cafe in Bowness with a view down the main road. Had a lovely tasty lunch served by friendly staff. I sat outside in the winter sun with my dog. Perfect.
