Bamboo Chinese and Thai Restaurant – CockermouthWas disappointed in my meal at Oily's. Although the chips appeared to be home made, they were soggy, 'bitty' and it looked like the fat needed changed. That comment was also made by another diner. Pie was rather dry, and my daughter was given cabbage with her scampi!!! I told my son where his sister and i had eaten to be told him and some friends had had a poor meal there also. I'm pleased there's good reviews for this a local business but sorry Oily's, the food wasn't that great.
Oily’s – Workingtonvery nice breakfast ,enjoyed the peaceful setting outside, no traffic after being in the city.
Aunty Vals Tea Rooms – WindermereHad an evening meal 9th September. The staff were very pleasant as were the surroundings. I ordered Scampi and chips, my partner ordered chicken and ham pie. My Scampi was served with carrots, cabbage, salad and a portion of soggy chips.(Is that normally served with Scampi) It was not very nice. My partners pie was average ,served with the same veg and soggy chips. Not really impressed.
Oily’s – WorkingtonThe best food ever, we have been going the lakes for the last 10 yrs, rasellis every time. We have even traveled from our home in oswaldtwistle just for a meal, then straight home after. The trip takes around 1 hour 15 mins. That's how good the food is. BBQ ribs, chips, garlic bread, veal cannelloni, yum yum yum yum.
Rastellis Pizzeria – WindermereWith regular visits to the Lakes over a number of years, I've eaten in a lot places and can honestly say the food at the Ship Inn is outstanding and by far the best place for home cooked food. Together with the relaxing atmosphere and the excellent service provided by the staff, I wouldn't hesitate in recommending the Ship to all. It is a must for good food lovers!
The Ship Inn – UlverstonA small group of us went too Oily's to celebrate a birthday on the 26th August, and what can i say FANTASTIC, we were made to believe we were the only ones eating there ( believe me the place was packed ) nothing was to much trouble, the drinks were delivered to us at our table, order taken as soon as we said we were ready, food cooked perfect and tasted delicious. All the staff were very friendly and helpful ( I think Joanna ) made our night, from sorting out a little piece of cake and finding candles to offering to take our photos so no one was missed out. God bless you all at Oilys we will back. 11 out of 10 for everything
Oily’s – Workingtonlovely fresh food,on holiday great service & reasonably priced
Mulberry Bush – Kirkby StephenGreat place to stay if you want to be in the thick of it in Bowness. Contemporary styling in the lakes is fairly rare and this place has it.
Angel Inn – WindermereEating out for my wife's birthday while visiting family in the lakes. The food here was excellent, plenty of choice for my picky palette, and helpful knowledgeable staff to look after us through the night. The portions were generous and the food was cooked to perfection, my steak being cooked almost to the second as I like it. A lovely sweet menu finished off a perfect evening. Oilys was recommended by my parents and they were spot on, they will be coming again, as will we when we next visit - 5* perfection :-)
Oily’s – Workingtonmy daughter and i visited Amanda's tea rooms 3weeks ago what a pleasant person she is well worth visiting
Brambles Coffee Bar – WindermereHighly, highly recommend this restaurant. My husband and I were on holiday from Australia and decided to dine in here while we were staying in the Lake District for a couple of days. I wish I could remember the name of the dish that I had, lol, it was a vegetarian dish, but it was the best Indian either of us had ever tasted. That was a couple of years ago and to this day we rave about the food to anyone here in Australia who will listen to us, lol! Very small premises, but efficient polite waiters, and very busy even on a cold winters night, so to me that says a lot about a restaurant. Would go there again again next time we visit the Lake District when we are in the UK
Prince of India – Windermeresalvanas is the best restaurant in the town love it :)
Salvanas – Barrow-in-FurnessI love this place, the food is brilliant, chef is great and the atmosphere is so welcoming. It's like a second home!
Akash Tandoori – WhitehavenVisited last year 2010 out of curiosity....because we had watched Brambles progress on TV. EXCELLENT is the word I can use to describe the place, food, and friendly service. Very relaxed and in no hurry to get rid of us and it was continually full the rest of the week. Will be visiting again this year on our holiday.!!
Brambles Coffee Bar – WindermereHave called in twice during July & Aug. 2011 for both lunch and afternoon tea. Excellent, wholesome, well presented food, tasty and just as you'd like it - if you'd made it yourself. Very high standards of cleanliness and most welcoming and helpful, polite staff. Will become a regular calling place for us when in Lakes.
Bowness Kitchen – Windermerevery nice food, reasonably priced. waitress very 'stuck up'. (red haired) spoke to me like she was telling me off. overall, good
Ship Inn At Roose – Barrow-in-FurnessWould recommend this place to anyone who likes eating in Wetherspoons. Thar's the quality of the meal we had there last weekend. Oh and on complaining and then paying we were asked to leave immediately. On returning to my car in the morning my cars roof had been slashed. working on the principle that the two aren't linked then watch out for someone in the sleepy town of Brigsteer carrying a knife.
