I have always found The Mulberry Bush an enjoyable place to eat. The food is fresh and very well presented. The prices are good and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I would recommend a meal here to anybody wanting good quality food.

Mulberry Bush – Kirkby Stephen
Adz Mc Graz

do yourself a favour and don't visit this restaurant as i found half a dead rat in the house special curry, i will be reporting this to the authorities its a fucking disgrace and i will take matters into my own hands if no action is taken.

Jasmine Palace – Whitehaven
Harriet Martin

go whenever we can have never had a bad meal yet the service is fantastic and the chef always seems to get it just perfect in my opinion the best restaurant in carlisle by far

farmers arms what is it? on the front of the building it says wine bar and restaurant however it is a pub full of drinkers shouting and swearing so it is not a restaurant. And to say that a selection of around 6 wines that you can get in the spar makes you a wine bar is just wrong.

Farmers Arms – Ulverston

Well what can I say about the globe; this may not be the largest or best dressed pub in Ulverston but what it lacks in size and appearance it makes up for in atmosphere, fun and damned good beer, and I prefer that any day to contemporary designer pubs where there’s more crack (craic) in a manikins arse than from the people within it. The pub is situated directly next door to the King’s head on Queen St, so it’s not far to wander if the mood takes you. It must have been three years since my last visit to this pub and it’s left me wondering why I left it so long. Although, like I said the bar area isn’t massive but it’s big enough to hold a good sized crowd and the staff seem more than competent of dealing with an influx of people. The pub is decorated in a traditional style again with slate floors, it has plenty to offer Joe public in the way of entertainment; Sky T.V. pool, darts, juke box and if that’s not enough entertainment you have the regulars who have to be met to be fully understood (and not in a bad way), they will leave you in stitches and not in the literal sense. Wendy who owns the pub is one of Ulverston’s best characters, on one hand she’s like everybody’s Mum, she always makes you feel at home and part of the family and she never forgets a name or a face, on the other hand she runs the place like a field general, not one of her customers would dare step out of line or cross her. So let’s take a quick recap; nice warm friendly welcome to every one of their comers, it’s a strictly run house so you have no worries of trouble and an owner that has plenty of time for her customers. That’s not all; the pub has a massive beer garden capable of easily catering for a military platoon and all of us smokers come July 1st. The pub is a Robinsons house with a good selection of ales, wines, spirits and alcopops (yes I know, that I bang on about alcopops being Satans brew but it’s a town center pub and must cater for the majority not the minority). I would recommend you try the XB at the globe it’s not normally the best pint or my first choice in any pub but Wendy keeps a bloody good pint of this fairly good all year round bitter. So if you like to partake in a few pints on a summers day or night I think you would enjoy a trip to The Globe it’s friendly atmosphere, warm welcome well stocked and kept bar is guaranteed to make you stop for more than the odd couple that you went out to consume, take your friends, your partners or go alone you will be all made more than welcome here. You really have to try this place to fully understand my warmth for this place and all the characters that make it what it is, a damned fine hostelry! See you when you get there

The Globe – Ulverston

I live just around the bay horse. In my opinion it is absolutely fantastic. The atmosphere; quiet music, families etc. Cheap, yet easily able to relax and dine. STRONGLY recommended

Bay Horse – Barrow-in-Furness

Had a really poor experience at this restaurant in November 2007. Owner/manager was very rude and aggressive towards our party when we felt the food wasn't as good as the price reflected. The customer is always right is definitely not on his agenda. We left with a small reduction in the price but really shouldn't have paid. I am contacting the Tourist Board in Kewsick as I was really upset and worried about his attitude towards visitors.

The coffee was fine, but the owner is HORRIFIC! We were told we couldn't take our push chair in, which would be understandable if the place was heaving, but it was 5pm on a December evening and there were 4 other people in there. The owner ranted at us and was extremely rude and not at all reasonable. 7 adults and 2 children bought coffees, hot chocolates, flapjacks etc, but we were told we were not allowed to bring our own food in; this was referring to 3 Organix crisps (baby snacks) being eaten by our 9 month old. I can not recommend this place for customer service at all! there are plenty of great places to eat and drink in Ambleside - go there instead!

Cafe Treff – Ambleside

We've been dining at Amigos for over 6 years now and have always had a fabulous experience there. The last couple of reviews have prompted me to add one in their defence. I would rather a wait a few minutes extra and be guaranteed a freshly prepared meal cooked with honesty and integrity. As the kitchen door is always ajar, customers can see the tiny kitchen and the two chefs working their amazing magic in there - I don't know how they do it?. The menu variety is great and we are always spoilt for choice (though one of us ALWAYS orders sticky ribs, the best I've eaten anywhere!). As we live locally, we sometimes just pop in the bar for a decent bottle of wine and nibbles, the atmosphere is like nothing else in Ulverston. Keep up the good work Amigos, you deserve the great reputation you've earned over the years.

Amigos The Mexican – Ulverston

The most amazing pub grub ever! Hungarian Goulash is stunningly good, plus excellent tap beers.

Beswicks! What an evening, Comfy sofas, log fires, fabulous food! You should never just pass through Broughton-in-furness you would miss a real treat. Thank you David once again excellent food.

Really liked this place. Ground floor it's a contemporary-styled cafe; upstairs a bit more characterful. The staff are friendly and efficient, the food is good value, but most important it seems quite innovative -- not the standard pasta choices that you find everywhere else. Music was good too -- can't beat a bit of salsa with your spaghetti!

Infusion – Kendal

the food is very good but the landlady needs a lesson in manners, she's very rude to customers especially the people who are just having a drink. she has put me and many others off re-visiting the place, even though the food is excellent.

Ship Inn At Roose – Barrow-in-Furness

The best food we have had in the lakes and believe me with have tried many. We have a caravan in the area in this is where we eat every Friday on our way in. Food is excellent and I challenge anyone to find a better chip. The welcome is warm and they are great with the kids. A lovely pub

The service was immpeccable. I was greatly impressed with both the food and the quality of service; the waitresses always had a friendly smile. The atmosphere was very welcoming and i enjoyed my meal greatly.

Lowther Castle Inn – Penrith

dunno whats happened to this place. 2 years ago i visited and really enjoyed. This time poor service microwaved food and in general i felt like my being there was putting staff out. Noticed that the pub across the road is now doing food ( station hotel) and on speaking to some locals have discovered that its now the place to go for food in town. Am back in a couple of weeks and will give it a go.
