The Sun Inn – PenrithThis place was a real find. The service was very good and very friendly. Thought the food was very good and was enjoyed in a cosy setting. If we stayed in Grasmere again, we? book a table!
Saras – GrasmereHaving been cosseted at Beswicks one certainly leaves feeling well looked after and well fed it is THE PLACE to eat in Furness for an all round experience. The ambiance was fantastic The food excellent (quality presented simply, with vegetables etc silver served) The wine list was so good it was difficult to choose. The service was attentive and just right with most things being done for you without asking.
Beswicks Restaurant – Broughton-in-FurnessMy friend and I had a meal in the restaurant on a bank holiday weekend, it was very busy but the service was fantastic and the food was the best I had ever had. The staff are all very happy very helpful even at the busiest of times! I recommend you book a table before arriving as they have always been very busy when I have gone.
Jade Garden – AmblesideWOW what a find i came across this place while out for a drive it has the most wonderful food you could imagine the best place i have eaten at ever. The staff are fantastic, kind, polite, courteous and above all very friendly i recommend this place to everybody you just don't know what your missing.
Abbey House Hotel – Barrow-in-FurnessThe food was more and more sumptuous with every mouthful.
Caspian – WorkingtonWhat a fantastic place for lunch or dinner the best restaurant in the whole of the lake district, fantastic staff and even better food.
Abbey House Hotel – Barrow-in-FurnessI cannot do justice to the Moss Grove Hotel experience. My husband and I decided to treat ourselves to something a little special so we picked the Moss Grove Hotel. The prices may be a little higher than average but in my humble opinion it is worth every penny. The welcome was warm and felt genuine, the food (organic obviously) was heavenly and after feeling quite under the weather for a couple of weeks (nasty chest infection) I felt rested, relaxed and 'healthy' after only 2 nights. We'll return!
Moss Grove Organic – Grasmeresmall family run country pub. the owners are very friendly and welcoming. my only complaint would be that the sign on the road states that food is served 7pm to 9pm and apparently they stop serving at 8.30. so my advice would be ring in advance and find out as in this district it is hard to find restaurants that serve after 9pm
Kirkstyle Inn – BramptonI was desperate to visit The Jumble Room after reading it's website, and it lived up to all of my hopes. My husband and I enjoyed a very special evening here. We can thoroughly recommend the mushroom and nutmeg soup, organic battered fish with chips and mushy peas and the organic chicken with sweet potato and chilli jam. If you're a fan of cheesecake then you must try it (I passed on a starter to leave room!) I can guarantee you it has never seen an artificial colour/preservative. The surroundings are comfortable and a little quirky - I loved the place.
Jumble Room – GrasmereWarm friendly staff, lovely food, enjoyable atmosphere, would recommend to couples and families, suits all types of customers.
Farmers Arms – UlverstonExcellent choice, even for a vegetarian. Dishes from the chef's recommendations are as good as you would expect (as are the rest!). Garlic chilli chicken massala is spot on.
Bari – CarlisleThis is a very good place to eat in Ambleside. We were hooked after one visit. The staff are lovely and the food is great and good value for money. Try it for yourselves.
Apple Pie Eating House and Bakery – AmblesideNo stay in Broughton is complete without dinner at Beswicks. Good sensible menu with the food well cooked presented and served. And do chat, if he has time, to the Proprietor, a man of many parts.
Beswicks Restaurant – Broughton-in-FurnessI first visited it 11 years ago and was eager to introduce my new husband to the 'Duck' - it didn't disappoint. If you're just visiting for a pub lunch why not try the 'Ploughman's Lunch,' it'll be a pleasant surprise.
Drunken Duck Inn – AmblesideAfter a super night out on the town, we ended up wanting what most people do at that time of night, eat a curry, and that we did, and what a beautiful curry it was, thanks emperor, you are the best.
Shahibs – WindermereGreat Family Pub in the heart of Bowness
The Village Inn – WindermereWelcomed with smiling faces into beautifully painted restaurant. The food was exquisite and perfectly cooked, accompanied with homemade bread only a true Italian can cook. By far the best value for money Italian restaurant in the North. Well done everybody. Dax.
