good home cooked food from what appears to be a family business, the building is a bit in need of brightening up and seems a bit grubby and unkept also the biggest problem is all of the downstairs floor which is the only accessible part during the week is smoking and this becomes a bit much when you are surrounded by smokers other than that the food is not to be faulted, its well worth a visit.

Excellent food in a great location. Only go if your hungry the portions are massive...Steak and Ale pie, gorgeous!!

Amazing, the food was excellent. So much that it was impossible to finish, definitely value for money. I will definitely be going back next time I? in the area!

the food was very good, my partner and I went ate on a Friday night which was quiet but think that was time of the year, service was good, overall I very enjoyable meal and very reasonably priced, I certainly recommend a visit

We stayed at the Hideaway for a few nights a couple of months ago and although not very impressed with breakfast, the evening dinner was fantastic. We devoured our meals on all nights and would definitely return, wine was lovely too! They have a very good chef there, he was lovely, excellent

Gooooooooorgeous italian food, the best garlic bread ever, especially the tricolore and chilli and cheese!!

Had a dining experience, even though all were busy, and were able to use their Bar across the road while we waited - carried our wine back to the restaurant when the Bar received a call our table was ready. We even met Lucy after her night doing her outside catering bit. A great evening, Thanks

The only problem with this place is that's is almost impossible to get accommodation in the summer. However this is a testiment to it's quality. A first class Gastropub!

After being continually queue jumped at Chester's cafe at Touchstone interiors, we opted for the fine traditional cafe/restaurant which makes up part of the Lucy's deli in ambleside - fantastic food, warm Lakeland surroundings, and smiles from the waitresses. A glass of vino, some coffee, a light snack and some terrific cake for two - all for eleven quid - not too bad for the lakes - plus cosy and warm on a freezing day!

The Queens Head is in a great location on the side of a stunning valley at the foot of Kirkstone Pass. The food is restaurant standard but served in traditional pub setting. The rooms are great as well as not being extortionately priced like some Lakeland Inn's. Well worth a visit to eat, drink or stay!

A special venue that our family have been frequenting for years. Expect a very traditional and character filled country coaching inn. The dining room is of the old school, starch linen, heavy silver with hearty satisfying British cuisine. A great feature of the Inn is the bar with its original smoke stained and varnished walls.

Fantastic place for a wedding. A 19th century country house perched on the edge of Lake Windemere. The place underwent a significant refurbisment in the last few years taking it back to its former glory. The restaurant has great views over the lawn running down to the lake.

Fantastic restaurant. We enjoyed a very special meal here. Well deserving of it's Michelin status.

We stayed the night here at this wonderfully isolated pub and i have to say they have got things just right. The danger in the Lakes is that things get a little too twee and chintzy but here the decor and design is contemporary without being at all out of place. The public bar is a delight, albeit a little small, the bedrooms are comfortable and luxurious and the food fully deserves its AA rosette. I even liked the 'designer' brown bathwater!
