A party of 8 of us had our evening meal on Friday and Saturday 12th and 13th December. Our food was excellent although we thought the menu could have had more choice. We normally sit at a long table just round to the left of the entrance into the dining room. This time it was in front of the fire and it was far too hot to sit there in comfort. Two of our party had to move away especially on the Saturday evening. Better back where it was we all agreed.

We had an excellent experience during our visit to Tanvis Restaurant. The elegantly decorated ambiance, complemented by classical music, created a welcoming atmosphere, and the attentive service provided by the staff was greatly appreciated. We attended the breakfast buffet, where each dish—including poori, dosa, and various chutneys—was exceptionally flavourful. We highly recommend Tanvis to anyone seeking high-quality Indian cuisine in Wakefield.

Beautiful cosy village pub. We stayed next door so booked a meal at the bay horse . Everyone was very welcoming . Menu choice was good . Food was delicious. Enjoyed it so much we booked for our second night . Definitely return . Pub was. Yay both nights we were there .

Great food, great restaurant and couldn't have been more helpful. We enjoyed private dining for a party of 13 with our own music on speaker. The 13 different meals all arrived at the same time piping hot and delicious. Highly recommended.

We were a party of 5 and 3 of us had the burger and was very disappointed. Burgers were obviously frozen Birds Eye type and tasting it took me back to my childhood but as I am not 12 anymore was left feeling very underwhelmed. Didn’t help seeing someone if chief’s whites walk through as had just nipped out and walked in with a bag of frozen onion rings. To be fair I had the fish with noodles and that was nice but was missing the veg that it was advertised with. Won’t hurry back which is a real shame.

A wonderful family evening, made even more special by the attentiveness of the staff. Highly recommended for good food and cosy atmosphere. See you next year.

Came for a joint birthday meal over Christmas, our large party was catered for beautifully. The restaurant is so Christmassy, food was absolutely wonderful- steak cooked to perfection! 100% recommend !

The best in the area . We always know that when we have friends visiting we can guarantee that the food at the Bay Horse is going to be good and we’re never disappointed. The best trifle ever and the meat and fish dishes exceptional. At a time when pubs and Restraunt’s like this are struggling it’s important we support them!!

Twice brought white wine when asked for rose. Staff were appalling totally disorganised and distracted. Food was ok but way over priced. Much better out there.

A classic case of if it isn't broke, don't fix it! The previous premises in Brook St were small and cosy. However I think that for such a success as this business is, it was just too small. The food is equisite, the staff are friendly, helpful an efficient. The menu is a sensible size and caters for all tastes and diets. I know that soft furnishings are difficult to clean and are a source of infections, but the new premises are a bit of a barn and the noise levels are very high. We had a wonderful evening on Saturday, and we would certainly go again if only we didn't live 70 miles away.

Absolutely brilliant evening, Denman's has a very welcoming and calm environment, the food was excellent, could not fault a single thing, would highly recommend to anyone.

We visited the Bat Horse on Saturday 13th December, on arrival we were welcomed into the front bar for a drink before going through to the restaurant. Once we were sat down our starters came very promptly, we have a cod coujons, tempura prawns and doreens black pudding, all were delicious. Once we had finished our starters and they were cleared, our mains came within 7-8 minutes, again a selection off the menu, mainly though venison and pork belly which was just divine. One of my pet hates with eating out is when the plates cold and the food not piping hot, both were perfect on this occasion. We don't normally go for puddings but we'd heard they were really good here and all home made by Gill. We were not dissappointed with a range of sherry trifles, sticky toffee puddings and pavlova. We'd highly recommend going here for food, one of the best in the area for sure!

Food is always good in roots what was different tonight was the guy felt like he was the owner maybe but his vibe his attuide his passion was amazing couldn't do enough for you absolutely loved his attuide. Also was a thursday and it was a really good atmosphere. And really cheap for the quality of food you get . used roots for years never been disappointed.

This was our first visit and we went on the recommendation of friends. We went with other friends From the minute we went through the door we were made to feel welcome. Staff were polite, helpful and very friendly. The food was fabulous and portion sizes were great as we went for the all you can eat ‘tapas style’ so we tried numerous dishes. Already recommended to other friends and we’ll certainly be back soon.
